Day 4 at the fort-

I woke up this morning at 10:00am....Ahhh. It was nice to finally sleep in on this vacation !! :thumbsup2 Cassie (10 yr old dd) didn't get up until then either. Hubby had been up for 2 hours and washed 4 loads of laundry. :laundy: We each only brought 2 pair of jeans and long sleeves. I thought we would only need them on the way here and back, lol !!

It was gloomy and cool this morning but we did all play some catch out front. We went over to the Lodge again for lunch and decided to make it interesting. Cassie and I rode our bikes and the rest of the gang took the golf cart to the settlement area and caught a bus over. We beat them by 5 minutes. It wasn't very crowded over there today. We all seem to have our favorite lunches there. The girls and I like the pizza, Jack(6) the pb & J and Chad(hubby) likes the fresh turkey sandwiches. After lunch Cassie and I rode our bikes back and this time the rest of the gang took the boat back. We beat them by a good 10 minutes.

We had planned on renting kayaks this afternoon, but it started raining on our way over there and they told us they couldn't rent them out if the forecast called for chance of thunderstorms, darn it. But the Meadows pool was open (go figure) so the kids spent a couple of hours swimming while Chad and I sat under an umbrella trying to keep dry and played cards. At one point a CM came over and tried to get some kids to go play kick ball...but she had no takers. So she got into the pool and played "Mickey-Pluto" with the kids (like marco-polo). They all seemed to really enjoy that. Jack is doing great with his water wings.

We dragged the soggy, tired kids back to the site about 3:30 so they could dry off and Chad could sneak in a little nap before the Hoop Dee Doo !! It was STILL raining so we had to wear our ponchos to the Hoop Dee Doo. We ended up sitting right next to the piano in front of the stage. The kids were thrilled to be so close to the action. We thought the show was good...the food was pretty good, though it was hard to grab our server for refills. My son was cracking up almost uncontrollably during the "Hokey Pokey" when "Six-Bits" had to put his backside in and they tooted the horn. The look on my son's face made my day, rain or no rain. He said it was the funniest show he has ever seen (six year old humor, lol). :lmao:

It was still raining pretty hard after the show. The campfire program was canceled. We considered going over to the Lodge arcade for awhile, but decided to come back and hang out at the rv for awhile. We played some games, took showers and got the kids in bed fairly early.

Tomorrow we are going to The Magic Kingdom !! :) :) Forecast is 88 degrees and 30% chance on isolated thunderstorms. I am hoping for the best, but taking our ponchos just in case. Luckily most of the rides we are interested in are indoor. Do they cancel the MK parade or fireworks if it rains ??

Shannone it seems like you're having a blast. Day 4 already, wow, it seems like we just started reading your posts. Believe me I'm so envious of you being at the fort. Even though we're just a couple hours away it's a trip to make and set up. I would love to go once a month but it would get old I'm sure. Keep us all posted. It sounds like the trip is going great. Are you posting on RV.Net as well? I've seen you on there a few times.

Enjoy the MK...can't wait to hear about it. :thumbsup2

Ugh, Hoop Dee Doo, video arcades, swimming pools, that's it, I'm coming up tonight...lol. I can't believe it's day 4 already either!

Yea, they were showing low 80's for the week a few days ago, now all of a sudden they're showing 89 and 90 during the week. I just checked the weather radar, I know what you guys were going through because it's just about to smack us! All I can hear is constant thunder outside and the flash of lightning, and the rain is starting to come down hard.

That's what you guys were going through, now you sent it our way!!! lol

Hope you guys have a blast at the Kingdom tomorrow, I don't think you'll have as much rain as you did today. Yes they will do the parade in the rain, and I've seen the fireworks in the rain as well, so don't worry!

Been following all of your trip reports which are so well written and detailed. Thanks for sharing and taking the time on vacation.

We spent a very wet day at Magic Kingdom several years ago. I had the kids in a double stroller and we were backed up against a building trying not to get soaked any more than we were. My dh left to get us some hot chocolate but was empty-handed when he came back. He said there was something waiting for us at the restaurant, which I believe was the Liberty Square Tavern. It was a hollowed out round loaf of bread filled with the best clam chowder this New Englander ever tasted. The warmth of the soup was the perfect meal on a rainy day.

We've been back a dozen times since then but we always talk about the bread and soup and our seeminlgly "mandatory" yellow ponchos.

It's good to hear that you are still having a great time despite the weather. The rainy and cold weather experience mandates to return for another trip to try for better weather.
