Shanghai Trouble?

Regardless of all the potential problems, I am still REALLY excited for this park to open and have already started saving for the trip. I'll be very surprised if it opens before Fall 2016, though.

That would be almost a year behind schedule then. Last I heard was spring 2016.

I would say 2017 is possible the question is while the park will have al the Disney property's, trademarks and intellectual properties......will DISNEY have any anything to say about the parks??? Based on what recently happened at the airport with Igor and friends and the Chinas past actions in stealing other companies properties, it quite possible Disney will not have anything to o with the park.

I think it's very likely Shendi will keep Disney as an owner but with no control whatsoever

Read the thread, and I do not mean any disrespect to anyone on this thread/board. There are alot of very knowledgeable posters and experience members here...but....how many of you are Chinese? How many of you have seen first hand the disgusting behaviours displayed by people at HKDL?

Being both, I am not optimistic about ShanghaiDisney AT ALL! The Disneystore had great sales first couple of days, but it is heavily supported by the wealthy elites of Shanghai. Those elites are westernized and are into Disney. Couple of months down the road, when the wealthy moves on, the general population wont give two hoots. Why? Its because THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHICH FACTORY MADE THE ITEM. I can't begin to tell you the number of times I have family members tell me they can "get something at production price" because they know the factory owner.

Sorry for the exclamation marks and Caps....its just...I have to say there is a cultural difference. The various perspectives in this thread is very western...and while I am Pro-Disney and all for the American Dream....I just dont think Disney is really ready for the big slap across the face they are about to get. Even just the basic 4 pillars Disney designs by disregarded in a heartbeat.

I was wondering about this. My Sister In Law moved to Shanghai in January for a long term job assignment. She was able to purchase a DVD of the new Cinderella movie for US$5 within a few weeks of its opening. She doesn't speak Mandarin so she certainly wasn't searching to find it. I've often wondered who is the Disney Store's target audience in Shanghai. Doesn't seem like it's the locals.
