Shampoo with mouse ear lids???

Well, it makes sense that Disney would use a single source for their California hotels. Even more so when there are H2O products in Florida and on DCL.

However, the H2O website does not have the PPH products, I've just double-checked. We have a few of the Mickey-ears bottles around the house; I'll inspect them closely to see if there are any telltale markings!

Do they sell the Mickey Ear bottles at the hotel gift shop? Last October when we were down at BCV they had the H2O products down in their shop.

Those Ear bottles are so cute. :)

I think the newer packages like the ears bottles don't have any mention of H20 in teeny print (only the much older, pre-ears packages, as I mentioned in my previous post). So you won't find it, I'm pretty sure. My Mickey ears bath products don't say H20, from what I recall, but my much older PPH packages without ears did say H20.

As I indicated earlier, if something has changed, maybe H20 is no longer making the products for the PPH and the DLH, but since they are making the products for GCH, the DCL and the WDW hotels, it would seem pointless to not make them for those 2 hotels too, especially when H20 used to make the PPH products (based on what I saw in the tiny print on my old packaging). I'm guessing there is an issue with that specific bottle design and that's why you don't see it sold on H20's website.

Because the DLH and the PPH have the specific 'ears' bottles in their bathrooms, there may be some different proprietary issues or licensing issues with that specific design that may prohibit H20 from showing them on their website. Disney probably wants it to be a Disney exclusive, not sold by H20. You never know. But that doesn't mean H20 is not making the product that goes into the bottles. They are probably still making it.

These are super cute! We are east coasters though.. and I don't think I'll ever talk DH into DL...

Can you buy them?

Caseystigger - I'm not sure. They could be in either the DLH gift shop or the PPH. I didn't see the Ears bottles in the PPH gift shop in December (the shop is called Mickey in Paradise), but I didn't comb every inch of the shop to be 100% sure. You would think that would be something they'd sell because it's so darn cute.

Now the DLH used to sell its bath products in one of its gift shops years ago, pre-Mickey ears. Now that it, too, has Ears bottles I'm not sure if the DLH is selling them. I went into the DLH gift shop last year as well - the one where they used to sell their bath stuff - and I didn't see any indication of the bottles off hand, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. I may have just missed them.

I gave away 2 sets of my Mickey Ears bath products to DIS'ers last year, and I gave away a third set to a different DIS'er this year. I may have another set I can part with. Also, I have a nice long 7-night stay at the PPH coming up in late November/early December, so that means a set of Ears bottles for each night! I will be sure to give more of those sets away to DIS'ers when I get home! I pretty much only hoard them to give them away - I just need one set for myself, for collectible purposes. I don't even use the products!

As you can probably tell, the Mickey ears are unimportant to me. Cute, but 'cute' doesn't wash my hair. I am just hoping for a source for the shampoo, itself.

I'm wondering if the housekeepers sit around a table and fill the ears bottles from a larger container (that I could buy somewhere)? I've seen it done elsewhere (the filling - though not with ears bottles, of course.) If it's only available in little bottles from housekeeping, I don't think we could ever stay long enough to collect a year's worth of shampoo to take home to Mexico.

If anyone wants to send me a PM about the source of shampoo, it will make a VERY easy Christmas present this year......just sayin'......

That's a very interesting thought (about the housekeepers or whomever) filling the bottles from a larger container. I never thought of that but it's highly possible. You never know!

Have you considered contacting Disney directly - maybe even calling the PPH or the DLH directly - and asking them where the shampoo originates? Or maybe contact H20's customer service and ask if they make the products for the PPH and DLH, too. That might give you a better lead.

The only reason why that Ears bottle design matters in this case is because that is the only place we know for sure that particular shampoo can be found, until further notice. So that may turn out to be the only way to get the shampoo itself - in those bottles - especially if it's something made specifically for Disney.

I'm sure if anyone here knows about the source of the shampoo with 100% certainty they will post it. Our DIS'ers are pretty good about sharing information. I don't think it's a secret. But most likely it's some form of H20.

It would be interesting to know if H20 sells that particular shampoo under a different name on its site - a name that has nothing to do with Disney - and maybe Disney buys it from them or has H20 bottle it up for them in the Ears bottles.

Good luck with the shampoo mystery!

Provitamin B helps reinforce strength to make hair more resilient and manageable

I must be super picky (and I think we have all figured that out by now), but I never use the mickey ear shampoo/conditioner, because I think it makes my hair "weird". I always bring my own, and don't even touch that stuff. Even at the GC with their spa grade shampoo---I just don't want to chance having "disney hair". I had that on our 1999 trip when I forgot to bring my own toiletries. I also forgot pressed powder and mascara that trip:eek:

alphie1991 -

That's great information! Hopefully that's the same stuff that is in the bottles at the PPH and the DLH, for m4travel. At least that's a lead on what the name of the product might be - Bath Aquatics!

Lisa -

I bring my own stuff with me! I don't use the Mickey toiletries either (nor did I use the H20 Spa stuff at the GCH). Now, don't get me wrong - I am a sucker for bath/hair/body products like The Body Shop, Lush, Basin, Bath & Body Works, etc. - but I mainly want to keep the Mickey ears items so I can give them away to other people, and then keep one set for myself. My friend didn't like the Mickey products either.

We travel with our own H2O+ Sea Salt toiletries, but I always like to give the local product a try, too. I remember a hotel in Palm Springs that had this terrific ginger-scented shampoo....

Anyway, I'll try to follow up with H2O re: PPH shampoo (it's not the Aquatics line that they have in WDW). It does nice things with my (dare I say it) thinning hair.

And I figured if anyone knew about the shampoo, a Diser would know!

LATER - Okay; I've written to H2O and will share their response, which they promise within 48 hours.

EVEN LATER - My eyes have warmed up to the point that I can read the wording on the bottom of the bottle: "Guest Supply. something, something, Hong Kong, 50ml / 1.7 oz, China"

I'm thinking it refers only to the bottle, not the contents; we'll see what answer we get from H2O!

Thanks Sherry...I will definitly take a detour from GCH to the DLH & the PPH to check it out. I love the sea salt shower gel at GCH so I usually ask for a couple more bottles from house keeping and combine them into a bigger bottle when I get home.

That's nice of you to hoard to share :)

Thanks for the names of the stores in the other hotels.

Erica

Well, it's now well past the 48-hour promised answer from H2O's website.

I've searched the GuestSupply.com website and they have many toiletries from many hotels, but nothing from Disney.

One last try, I've written to the Paradise Pier Hotel and asked my question re: shampoo.

I'll post again if there's an answer.

Otherwise, we'll be at DLR in October and I suppose I could pilfer some from the housekeepers' carts in the hallway....

Marc

I love the these bottles, I keep a set on my garden tub, so everytime I have a bubble bath I think of my stay at the DLH!

The H20+ Aquatics products found at WDW are definitely not the same as the stuff in the Mickey bottles at DLH and PPH. Aquatics are delightful, quality products and smell heavenly! Every time I smell some of the shampoo or bath gel that I brought back from WDW, I am immediately transported to my room at Saratoga Springs.

I have a Mickey ear bottle from PPH here and the bottom says, "Guest Supply GPO 2654 Hong Kong". Even my older bottles, the black and red ones with the pie-eyed Mickey design on them, do not say H20 anywhere. The bottom says "Hunter Amenities Int'l". Ones that are older than that, say nothing. Just a bunch of numbers.

Well, October has come and gone - and we didn't make it over to PPH to ask about the shampoo. Loved what it did for my hair, but if I can't get it, there's always something else.

A friend just returned from Cunard's Queen Victoria raving about the shampoo that was provided onboard - and her hair does look 'nicer' since she's been using it.

I've ordered a small set of their products (Gilchrist & Soames, London product line) to try out. If it does for my hair what it did for hers, I'll be in a long-term commitment.
