Driving under that sign was as exciting and magical as ever!

Yep, we were really finally on property!!!

I do love that magical arch!

Disney street signs are just so much more exciting than the street signs in the real world. :)

Looking forward to Plan A, B, or C.
I was hoping for whichever one that included MNSSHP. so I guess I will know soon!

Good Lord! He's worse than a woman!! What the heck was he drinking????!!! I can only imagine how often he had to take potty breaks during the drinking part of your trip!

Just Diet Coke if you can believe it! He claims it's because he is getting older.

You know I remember hearing a new story a few years back about a woman that drove across country wearing a "space diaper". Just sayin!:lmao:

I know what is going in Charles' goody bag next summer...:rolleyes1:laughing:

Oh yay!!! I just love your first entry! How fun to take a solo car trip (solo meaning no kids) and practically really solo b/c Charles fell asleep, but still I am sure this was a fun start to an exciting trip, it makes me want to do a solo or adult only trip. :goodvibes

Except for the frequent stops, it was a nice drive down -- Charles and I enjoyed talking and not having to break up fights or answer the never-ending "How much longer?" questions.

Charles and I would make good traveling companions. We'd both have our pillows from home and we'd both be needing to stop often for pee breaks. :rotfl:

 It might end up being a really long drive! :lmao:

I have the same, ahem, issues when I go on car trips. I have to ration myself on liquids so I don't have to stop once an hour. Thus another reason I prefer to fly. :thumbsup2

Hi, Katie! I kept suggesting to Charles that he might want to ration his drinking, but it fell on deaf ears.

Wow you could be living my life! My Dh will also bring his pillow and sleep while I drive. Most often he is asleep when I need an extra set of eyes for directions etc.:sad2:

BTW he always the one to ask for a pit stop. Not quite as often as your DH but he is the one who always has to go. :rolleyes1

That's funny! It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one with a Charles! :rotfl:

ditto for me too. I'm the reason for our frequent stops.

My mom is like that, too. Charles kept saying to me, "Just pretend you are traveling with your mother."

LOL!! Poor Jackie, I would have been going out of mind with all those stops!!! I usually stop just ONCE on my road trip down LOL!!! Love the road side fruit stands though...you can get some great produce that way!!!

I remember that text...I was with C when you texted back and we had a good laugh and couldn't wait until you arrived!!!!

Can't wait for more!!!

I was about at my wits' end with the stops at that point, Jen! If I had my way I would stop once in Valdosta and that's it!

Plan A, B, or C?????? Ok - this is going to be interesting! I hope you go with whatever option takes you to the Halloween party!

Glad your drive was uneventful, except for the frequent biobreaks. And thank goodness Charles' insulin survived intact. Does he take lantus, too? (just curious).

Did you take that picture of the WDW entrance????? Steady hands. Good job!

Can't wait to read more!

Charles and I would make great travel partners...that's all I'm saying about that.

:lmao:

Love going under the sign and realizing that you are in WALT DISNEY WORLD!!:cloud9:

Can't wait to hear more!

It's my favorite thing about arriving -- once I drive under the sign, I know the vacation has really started.

We usually stop about ever two hrs, I needed a restroom break and DH has to get and and walk. It is consistent rest stop Macon, eat about Valdosta, Florida Welcome center. I know Valdosta to Florida is not two hrs but I have just drunk two glasses of tea, plus who can pass up free OJ and Disney material. Then last stop rest stop near Gainesville or Ocala, finally next stop Disney.

Yep, we hit all of those stops and then some.

I read your chapter title and assumed the acorn was in reference to a brain.

:rotfl2:

Surprisingly, not this time. :rotfl2:

Charles is lucky he has you to drive as he sleeps.
I cannot believe you stopped so much for the restroom. Poor Charles :sad2:

Love the photo of the Disney sign. It's such a great feeling driving under that sign at the start of a trip.

Can't wait to hear more about CBR.

Oh, I like to drive -- Charles kept asking me if I wanted him to drive, but then I would have been sitting in the passenger seat all antsy and bored. I hate sitting still.

I :lovestruc that Disney sign. Love, love, love it.

CBR was so nice!

Oh goodness Charles, you are worse than the kids....Can't wait to hear about CBR.

He was -- normally we don't have to stop that much with Chelsea and Connor partly because I think Charles just wants to get there and out of the noisiness of the car. :rotfl:

Yep, that was Charles most of the drive.

Oh my goodness.

The size of an acorn.

I thought that was me but I really think he has me beat. And you are still doing all the driving! :worship::worship::worship:

I really do like to do the driving -- a couple of times Charles pestered me to let him drive, but he finally gave up when he realized I wasn't going to let him.

Yes, I think Disney signs are so much better -- they have cool names like Buena Vista Drive and World Drive -- so much more fun because they lead to fun places like Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. My road just leads to Walmart and the Quiktrip.

We had a hard time deciding which plan to go with...

Great start!! Can't wait to hear your impressions about CBR.

I've always been the one who needed frequent breaks. :rolleyes1

Yep, he takes Lantus first thing in the morning, and then Novolog before meals if his blood sugar is high (that's the one he dropped). I knew we would need that one if we were going to be eating all day at the Food and Wine Festival.

Did you take that picture of the WDW entrance????? Steady hands. Good job!

Can't wait to read more!

I did -- I wasn't handing the camera to Charles and having him make me slow way down again.

Bladder the size of an acorn. :lmao::rotfl::lmao: Still cracks me up and it's the 2nd time I've heard it now. Poor Charles. Me thinks for the summer trip there will be no liquids and give him a benadryl before you leave (but none once you're there :sad2:). The space diaper ain't a bad idea either. ;)

I'm excited to hear more about CBR! popcorn::

Just Diet Coke if you can believe it! He claims it's because he is getting older.

Substitute his regular diet coke with caffeine free and see if that helps! I'm usually not too bad on long car trips but caffeine makes my bladder go insane. :rotfl:

Totally true. A Urologist first told me that and I've found it rings true for me. Of course sometimes you have to have some caffeine to keep you awake while driving and then I make sure I have some solid food with it. It helps counteract it a bit. But once I tried a Red Bull to stay away on a drive. It was awful. I felt like I had spiders all over my skin and my bladder went into convulsions for days.

Oh, goodness - I'm a bit worried about this on our next trip. It's the first time we'll be driving (from Indy - ticketing five people just gets so darned expensive!), and with three of them plus my DH I'm worried about the number of stops we'll have to make. Me, I have Teacher Bladder - I can go until lunch, and then until 3:30, without having to worry about it! Well, I'm ok until the evening. Then I have to go about every 45 minutes!!! :rotfl: But by then we'll be stopped. Can't wait to hear about CBR! I'm glad to hear that you liked it.

Jackie, I was excited that I might be able to use my daughters as an excuse to stop for breaks. Unfortunately , or fortunately depending on how you look at it, they only need to go two or three times a day. I do tend to drink nearly a gallon of water a day, though. We will make our first drive to Disney in June from PA. Hopefully, I will be too anxious to get there and won't have to stop so frequently! I teach high school, so I didn't have to transition to a teacher's bladder. (I can leave the room in the even that I need to or go in between classes.)

Bless you for not leaving anyone out and responding to each of us. :goodvibes Can't wait to hear more!

:yay: You've arrived! A tad later than expected, and more stops than desired, but you are there!!!

Ah, doesn't it feel great to drive under that arch? Someday I hope to have a seat on the ME that will allow for me to snap a picture of it.

You and your pictures! Too funny! :rotfl2:

Hi Jackie! Got back last night and I am so happy that you have started your TR so that I can see how much of what we ate/drank was the same!!
It is so hard coming back home....at least I know I have another trip planned for May but the weather was so beautiful it made it even harder to leave!
I love, love, love that sign too :lovestruc

Tracy

Hi, Barbara and welcome! I hope Emily's hand is okay now!!! :goodvibes There are lots of Food and Wine adventures to tell!
Hi Jackie,
I took her for x-rays. Nothing is broken or fractured. The doctor just gave her a split so that it will heal faster. She's going back on Thursday to get it off and then she can play softball next weekend.:goodvibes
Can't wait to hear about your food and wine adventures.
Have a good night!

Hey everybody! Stop picking on poor Charles!

Polyuria is common in diabetics.

:snooty: Hey somebody's got to stick up for the poor guy...

Kathy

too funny... I'm guessing one of those plans didn't include Charles?? hahah...
