Shake and Bake! TR link up FINALLY!!!!

Public Service Announcement:

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO OUR PENNIES! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh boy. My eyes!!!! :scared1: I just searched through a few hundred pennies and man do they get a bum deal in life. Some of the 2007 pennies look like they lived in the cave man days and a few 1940's pennies were almost perfect. Who treats pennies this way? :lmao: I felt like air lifting the 2007 penny to the burn unit at Maricopa Medical Center.

I believe it has been flicked into a campfire, digested by a bear, exited out the other side:scared1: frozen in the polar ice cap, melted and ran through the streams of the rockies, eaten by a fish, digested by a bear again through means of the fish, exited, found by a camper, ran over by his trailer, stomped on by his horse, thrown in a camfire again, rescued and used for purchasing. The 1941 penny was probably in some guys jar for 50 years perfectly clean and happy.

Treat our pennies better because some poor mom will have to sort through and clean them some day only to squish them at WDW for her children!!! :rotfl2:

Well I found 26 pennies each for the kids. :thumbsup2

For those of you who do the pressed pennies and get the books how many do you usually collect. I'm wondering how many we need over a 2 week trip!

Penny abuse. America's little tiny shame. On the next Oprah.:lmao:

Your penny horror story had me :rotfl: I have no advice on the pressed penny thing. Mr. The King did a few with PC. He got pissed because they upgraded so many to pressed quarters. Men.

Wow!!!! You know, you gave me an idea!! I think with all our pennies around the house, we can start Hollie a pressed penny collection!!!

BTW, while we were in Florida, I watched Wedding Crashers 3 times!!! I love me some Vince Vaughn!:lmao:

there should be a special on this I'll tell you. Quarters! :scared1: Thats too rich for my blood! I hope there are some penny squishing machines left for us poor folk since I just stuffed them into the mini M&M containers for easy access.

The M&M's somehow disappeared. :rolleyes1

A pressed penny collection is just the thing!

Vince Vaughn is sexy. I'll take him over Brad Pitt anyday!!!

Thanks! I just saw it on your PTR and I was searching for it! :lmao: I'm glad you provided me the link because my brain was getting jumbled!

Free Dining!!

Did I read somewhere, that you got the red jacket done? Did you stay up to the wee hours of the morning or something? :sad2:

:lmao: Yes I got it done. I used a PJ pattern shirt without the buttons and modified a lapel. The only thing is I didnt do a collar and it might look funny but Oh well!!! Its done now.

I need to finish the shirt today. I bought a shirt but didnt like it so I made him one. I just needed to adjust the colar. Then make the bow tie and the bunny head piece. Unfortunately I'm addicted to the DIS this morning and cannot get motivated to sew. :rolleyes1

Hey AZMickey, Grumpy here

On the subject of pennies I have to ask.....................how do you clean them???? Last night I had them in all kinds of domestic metal polishes, all I acheived was a chemical reaction so potent that it had me chatting to the little tinkerbell who popped up onto the counter next to me. After I had come down off my high and Tink had left me alone I noticed the pennies remained as grimy as they had when I started :confused3

Hey Grumpy! Glad you are off your HIGH! :lmao:

Here is what I did. I dumped a few pennies at a time in a bowl of white vinegar and about a tablespoon of salt. Probably doesnt matter what type of vinegar. I let them soak about 10 minutes. I waited too long one time and they turned black so watch them carefully. Then I brought them out and they were clean for the most part but they were not shiny so I took some baking soda and water, made a paste with it and scrubbed for a few seconds on each side with a toothbrush and they shined right up like the new 2008 pennies I had. They seriously look brand new and I did 52 of them in about 45 minutes with Jake's help.

Good luck and hopefully Tink wont come back in that way. :lmao:

Do NOT store them in a pouch of your camera bag or in your luggage with a battery.
That was an expensive lesson...

Ok the battery ruins the pressed pennies. it corrodes it! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: A serious penny violation indeed. Thank you Alex.

I must have missed the update on the sewing - how is it going?
My Mum just brought over grey thread and ribbon for my Shang costume so I guess it is back to work for me!

:lmao: :rotfl2:

I tried to catch up on your tr at work yesterday.
I had to stop after a couple of lines. :rotfl:
I'm going to have to add you to the list of things that are too funny to read at work. :sad2:

You really had me laughing with your penny misadventure tale.
Having gone through our "coin jar" as well, I will agree. Some of them really look like they have been chewed up by something!

Sounds like the sewing is going well.
I think you are closer to being ready than I am! :scared1:

The sewing is coming along great. The white rabbit is almost done. Just the tail which is turning out to be the hardest part ironically. :lmao:

No I still have the pirate cruise skirt and shorts to make. :scared1: And a shirt for me for Chef Mickeys. Then get the other items for the suprise bags and the travel necessities ready. This weekend I'll gather suitcases out.
