sewing question...

Oh wise and wonderful dis-sewers!! I would like to ask a sewing question if I may
I bought a Wendy (Peter Pan) costume that I love , but the sleeves are elastic trim and it's tight!!! Any advice for loosening the elastic??

It depends on how the elastic is on the sleeve. If it is in a little casing, it would be easy to rip it open and pull out the elastic. Then insert another piece of elastic of the same width, just longer length that you sew together (or glue or safety pin if no sewing skills!). It's a bit more difficult if it's directly attached to the sleep....more sewing required. Do you have a machine to fix it?

Can you just insert something long and round into the sleeve and leave it in there until you stretch the elastic a bit?

If the elastic is in a casing I would do it just like SarahandPaul said. If it is sewn right into the fabric just snip the elastic with a pair of small scissors. I just did this to one of my dd's nightgowns and it really helped. I just did one snip on the underside of the arm. If the elastic is really tight you may need to snip it in more than one place.

It's not in a casing, just sewn into the sleeve.. I'm gonna try to stretch it.. hadn't thought of that!! I just ran at it with scissors and DH stopped me before I damaged it.
