~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
will keep Josh and you all in my prayers!
my Dad had back surgery years ago...back was broken in WW11, and finally couldn't stand the pain from his back and legs anymore....he had complete success, after his 6 weeks of recovery was pain free!!! he did sleep in the recliner for the first 4 weeks.
can't wait to see the goofy outfit...it is the same as the AG outfit you made Megan?
D~ I am sending huge prayers your way. Hope the surgery is a Success and Josh recovers quickly.
Thank you, me too! :lovestruc
Oh goodness. I'll be praying for him and your family. :hug: Keep us posted on how awesome the surgery goes and how quickly he recovers! :flower3:
Thanks - I will keep you all posted. :lovestruc
Third time I have tried to post something ...
D~ That sounds very similar to part of what they did to me. Mine was called Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion (or ACDF for short). NOT fun! Of course, my husband tells me it couldn't have been all that bad...I went to Disney 10 weeks later!
He is in our prayers!
NIni
I am glad to hear that it was successful for you. I am a bit concerned because his Dr. said that one of the possible consequences is that he could be temporarily perilized (sp?)... Especially his shoulder/arm area... I just hope he doesn't have a lot of pain. This is the main reason why we got new furniture (I know I didn't tell you all about that reason)... But the Dr. said he wouldn't be able to lay down to sleep for a few weeks, and I quote "I hope you have a good recliner" :eek: So, initially we were looking for a recliner for Josh - which turned into the sofa/loveseat with recliner combo. Unfortunately, the best we could do is delivery next tuesday - so we'll have to figure out something for a couple of days for him. :confused3
Thanks. :lovestruc I am glad you dad is now pain free... How horrible to have to live with such pain for so long. :hug:
Actually, this one is not... However, I am throwing around the idea of making her a replica of my Goofy outfit... I actually was looking for a shirt at Kohls the other day that I could rip apart and make into the Goofy shirt - but I couldn't find a single black button up shirt - short or long sleeved. :confused3 I might end up using a T-shirt if I make the outfit... I will have to see how much time I have... So much to Sew, so little time. :rolleyes1
I practically LIVED in my recliner for almost three weeks! LOL!
(I guess the fact that I was allergic to the pain meds didn't help much!)
I just got back from WDW earlier today and I wanted to let you know, I got soooooo many compliments on my Ultimate bag! It was perfect for Disney, just the right amount of room and pockets! I sent quite a few people to Etsy to look for you (except the Disney employees that asked :rolleyes1 )
Sorry to hear about Josh's surgery, hoping for a speedy recovery and until them he will be in my prayers. My mom has had four surgerys on her back, all four of them have been ruptured disks. First happened when I was a teenager and her disk ruptured while driving her car, than about 10 years ago a blood spinner hit her in the back of the neck and ruptured three disks. She has had three fusions with this one, the last one being about 5 years ago.
I am glad to hear that you started packing, I've been thinking of starting that myself. I even just got 4 new shirts yesterday for just $20. I looked for a donald one, but I didn't see any that I felt were D worthy.:lmao:
So at this point (if they are not booked up by the time I get the money) my choices are POR or POFQ. What do you think? Should I just go for POQF so we could be neighbors?:lmao: If thats the case we will definatly have to exchange #'s so we can bug each other while we are there.:rotfl2:
Nope my machine isn't worth repairing it was a cheap Kenmore I bought 5 years ago and for the guy to look at it is $40 then whatever it costs to repair it which I think is the motor.
I have finally convinced DH to let me buy the embroidery machine I want since mine kicked the bucket.
I wil be praying everything goes smoothly with Josh's surgery. I hope you are able to repair your sofa as well.
Nini
That just sounds so horrific, I can't imagine the pain you must have been in. :hug:
I am really not sure what to do for Josh for the first 2 days he is home, I have no idea how he is going to rest and sleep??? I am quite nervous about it.
I told him yesterday, we should just load up our sectional and bring it to the Goodwill... My thought is that I could rent a carpet cleaner and do a deep clean in the living room. We could bring up our camping chairs from the basement and use those for a week (they'd be much more comfortable than our sectional, that's for sure)... Then the furniture store could reimburse us the $30 we paid to get rid of it - and we won't have to worry about them taking it or not.
Josh's thought was... Then I have to clean out the back of my truck. :eek:
So, I am not sure what we will decide to do... but I really don't want to be stuck with the sectional for 10 weeks while Josh is on restriction - we just don't have the room. :rolleyes1
Stephanie... I read this last night, and it just made my day! :lovestruc Thank you so much for coming to tell me! :cloud9: I would love to hear all about your trip and I would love to see some pictures too - if you don't mind posting them!!! I am so glad that you love your UPB and the size/pockets worked well for you! :lovestruc
Thank you. Ouch on your mom - that sounds awful!
Awesome that you've started packing!!! And awesome about the new shirts! ROFL about finding a Donald one... I was counting yesterday, and I am pretty sure that once I finish the ones I plan to make - I should have almost enough for every day while we are there. LOL
You can do whatever you are comfy with... I'd be happy to exchange #s. :) We don't plan on spending too much time at the resort - we are rope drop to close the park type gals. LOL
That's a bummer that your machine can't be fixed... but awesome that your DH is letting you get the emboidery machine you want.... Which one are you getting?
Thank you everyone for your well wishes about Josh's surgery... We are a bit nervous about it (especially the girls), but I am confident in the surgical team - the hospital he is having it done at is #1 in the nation for spinal cord injuries - so I feel confident.
Victoria's Goofy dress is going well - I got a lot accomplished last night after work. I wasn't planning on working on it at all, but Josh offered to make dinner last night, so I snuck up to my sewing room for a few hours. :lovestruc
I also have to run over to the furniture store today, the delivery paper didn't get signed while I was there, and in order for them to deliver it, I need to sign this annoying paper (grrr...) so that will be at least 2 hours out of my day. I am kind of hoping that Josh will go with me and we can look at just recliners, I am so nervous because that was the main reason we were furniture shopping in the first place, and we didn't get one.
While I am over there, I am going to swing into JoAnn's and grab the lime green thread that I didn't realize I was almost out of (story of my life). My goal is to finish the Goofy dress today, and hopefully cut out the Goofy skirt. I have just enough orange dot fabric to do that... :rolleyes1
I will probably be right there with you girl, being by myself I will have no excuse to get to RD. I will have to keep an eye out for your.:rotfl:
Nini - I can't remember the medical term - I think it starts with an "f"??? The surgery is actually a result from an injury in Iraq - TMI ahead... They are opening up his spinal canal, and dremeling out part of the bone cavity there - I think they are doing that to two of his vertebrae???? I try not to pay too much attention, because it grosses me out and freaks me out. It's possible that he could have some paralysis for a few days after - but the surgery as a whole is quite safe????
D~
Prayers for Josh, his medical team, and you and the girls.
May the healing which you most need be the healing that comes over you.
May the many who know and love you discern the ways that their love for you may best be expressed.
May you know even in the darkest moments there are always arms around you.
Sorry I've been absent for several days. We had a very busy weekend!
I love the Test Track bag. It is awesome! The fabric you used is perfect. I know that everybody at Disney is going to be complimenting you on your bags no matter which one you carry!
Sorry to hear about your hubby's surgery. I hope that he will come through it with as little pain from the surgery as possible and the maximum relief from his neck problem as possible.
I just had to update with some official Disney news...
It's official - Mickey Mail is here!!!! :cool1:
Pics are coming momentarily...
Don't mind the mess, I just piled the suitcases on top of our ottoman in our bedroom and everytime I have something I need to pack - I just put it in there. :confused3 The suitcase that is standing up is still empty... Maybe you can play a nice game of I Spy with yourself Liddy??? IF you look closely - our Mickey Mail is right under the little notepad on top of the suitcase on the left, you can just barely see the corner of the envelope.
Love the TT bag! Love all your bags actually!
Hooray for Mickey Mail! Hopefully that means ours isn't too far off either. Can't believe we will be there in 40 days!
OK - I love how this turned out! It was so much fun to make! :lovestruc However, even though V has been begging for this for months, I will admit that it's not really age appropriate for her. :confused3 Like DH said - I am great at making doll clothes, but my girls are not dolls. :confused3 I told him that they are "my dolls" - but that doesn't make the dress any more age appropriate.
She plans to wear it with a pair of black leggings and Converse, and either a Goofy bow or her Goofy hat (and, of course, her Goofy bag)... I am hoping she wears this outfit for one of our MK days - because I would love pics of her with the "original Goofy". :lovestruc
Sorry, I missed your post in my multiquote... Thanks for liking my bags... I am starting to think I have pleanty of bags, and I really shouldn't make any more - I need to save some for my next trip. But I really want a Toy Story UPB, so I might cave on that one???
I hope your Mickey Mail comes soon... I was super excited to get it, but it wasn't as thrilling as I thought it would be. :confused3 LOL
D~
Just getting Mickey Mail is exciting--opening it, meh.
The goofy top is cute and she will work it well in MK with the leggings and chucks! (When you get home it will make for a great Halloween costume!)
Prayers for your family for the surgery.
LOVE IT! :love:
If she wears it for one of your Epcot days she could take pics with Goofy in the character meeting spot . . . which building is that in again? Innovations? Anyway, that's where we got our original goofy pictures :) I don't remember seeing him in MK at all :confused3 this trip. We did see him in AK, but not in his original outfit. Oh! We saw him in MK - but as Pirate Goofy, not original.
And I'll just keep talking to myself . . . running dialog . . . I need to be cutting and sewing. . . I'm avoiding it . . .
That is so cute! My opinion - does anyone care what is age appropriate when you are at Disney? I could see my SIL dressing as a princess if she could get away with it. :rotfl2: As long as V likes it, that is all that matters.
