~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
That will work if you like to inflict PAIN.... :lmao:
It has nothing to do with pain.... The ultimate goal is to protect the bag... I just told dd about your plans, and she is all for the idea. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
D~ <--- Headed to my sewing room for the day...
Welcome! :thumbsup2 I am glad you found me... I agree, I post waaay too much around here sometimes. :rotfl2: Not sure how I even find the time to sew. :confused3 LOL I would be happy to make you a bag for your trip. :lovestruc Thanks for stopping by & I hope you'll continue to follow along and post. :thumbsup2
Well, I got a lot accomplished yesterday... Victoria was kind enough to help me with some quilting. :banana: I was able to get the majority of my Carry-on/DHS & maybe Epcot bag done... Really happy with it so far. All I really have left to do is the applique - this is where I always feel like I wreck my bags/outfits. I am doing another messenger bag like the girls' - but I did a bunch of renovations to the pattern... First and foremost - I changed the size of the bag... I made it a bit deeper. I also added a lot of fun features, and I fixed the pocket that I never liked - now I like it. :thumbsup2
Usually, I don't have any issues falling asleep, but last night, I laid awake for hours... I came up with 2 new accessory ideas... So, I am anxious to get started on those, as well. They will really compliment my bags, and one of them is VHTF, so I think it will be something that is very unique. :lovestruc
I have to work this morning, but I am off pretty early - so I might be able to sneak into my sewing room for a while this afternoon.
Oh, and I just checked....
Only 69 days till Disney!!!!!
D~
:banana::banana::banana:
Only 69 more days - you have plenty of time to sew lots of items for yourself.
I have a question for you, if you don't mind sharing:
What kind of batting do you use in your bags that you quilt over top of? I want to make a little notebook thing for my daughter and I wanted to quilt the fabric.
Can't wait to see your new bag plus your accessories! I am sure they are going to be awesome. Do they have your favorite little duck on them?
I made another hipster bag yesterday. I added a zippered pocket inside. I am very happy with the pocket. I'm not crazy about the fabrics since I just used some fabric I already had. It was raining bucket and buckets yesterday and I just couldn't get myself to go to the store to buy different fabric. I still need the slide piece for the strap. Maybe I will pick that up today. The next one I do I plan to put an applique on the front.
Can't believe that you only have 69 more days. The time is going to fly by! Can't wait to see your new creations!
I just use regular quilt batting... What ever is on sale when I go to buy. :thumbsup2
Nope, no Duck this time... :eek: This one is for my favorite movie...
Awesome... They are so fun to make. It sounds like you were able to figure out the zippered pocket - I keep meaning to write a tutorial - but every time I think of it, I am half way through the process. I just need to make a bag with that tutorial in mind.
Looking forward to seeing all of your bags. :thumbsup2
I know, I can't believe how fast it is going! :rolleyes1 I was just telling the girls yesterday that we need to bring our luggage upstairs and start throwing a few things in there that we aren't currently wearing - because it will be here before we know it, and I don't want to be searching for shorts and capris the night before we leave... :rolleyes1
D~
Yay for more D~ creativity :woohoo: can't wait to see the new goodies!
Hey there. I'm a little late, but I took some "time off" over the holiday. The girls' bags look awesome! Such lucky girls to have such a talented mother :)
Yay for 69 days! Not to rub it in...but we only have 38 :cool1:
FQ has free wi-fi now too? Cool. I wonder if the Poly does. Last I had heard they were just testing it out at a couple resorts and Poly wasn't one of them, but I didn't think POFQ was either. So maybe Poly has it for free now too. Not that it matters for me, cause my parents have a mi-fi (through the cells) card to use anyway. But it is nice that Disney is finally stepping up and offering that. I mean, you get free wi-fi at a $80/night joint off the highway! About time :)
Anyway...just catching up on here after my brief hiatus. Glad you had a great Christmas!
I thought I would let everyone know, I was just on the Passporter website, and they are having a sale on their 2010 spiral edition of the Passporter, for $1 each... I know, it's 2 years old... but most of the information is still valid, and for $1... I ordered a few, because I always like having a Passporter on hand, even when I am not actively planning a trip - I am always actively dreaming about planning a trip - and there's nothing better than a Passporter. :thumbsup2
So, run over there and get yourself a deeply discounted Passporter. :thumbsup2
I've never made a simply sweet, but I've found that with stripwork jumpers and wrap skirts (and my stripwork twirl) that it makes a BIG difference with a t-shirt under something. Seems like the stripwork jumper is too big, but with a t-shirt it starts getting snug,. Have you run into that?
I just tried the dress on with the t under it and it fits just fine. It may be loose without the t- ~ not sure b/c it will be worn with the t- as I don't like the fabric showing on the doll. It may be a little hard for my dd to get on and off though -- I slid the dress on through the legs rather than over the head. Will try to get pics sometime today and post them on Disbout -- or perhaps right here on MY ptr. I worked the past two days and work tomorrow so I have lots of laundry to catch up on and some cleaning to do. I am also working on another t-shirt for the doll that dd wants embroidered (just a very simple butterfly design that came with the machine so that should be easy).
So I finally had the time to go through and read your PTR!!! :woohoo: As you suggested I used your ToC to read all the important stuff.
I am loving all of your plans and I can't wait to read all about your ADR's when you get back. I also loved the pics of your 2008 trip. I think I will have to steal that idea for my PTR since I have so much time to kill.:lmao:
All of your outfits and bags are incredible. I can't believe that you have just started sewing a little over a year ago. I know what you mean about the Disboutiquers thread. After being on there for any amount of time you start coming up with all sorts of ideas that you want to do. That is wear I got the idea for my DD's halloween costum. I got some ideas from others and made my own pattern for what I wanted. I haven't tried the appliques yet, but I am itching to try one, but a little worried it will come out horrible.
I recently bought some material to make my DD a bag for the parks and will have to get to it soon. Now that I have seen your bags I have a whole bunch of ideas running through my head. Thanks D.:lmao:
What's a passporter??
I can't believe that you have just started sewing a little over a year ago.
OMG :eek::eek::scared1::eek::eek:
Is that true?!?!?!? A little over a year and you are already THAT good?!?!? What did you use to learn how to sew?
Lastly I'm jealous of your 69 days left!! We have 161 today. So I will spend a lot of time popcorn:::surfweb:!
Sorry I've been MIA! The ILs visit was as horrible as I expected and it only made my time with my parents that much shorter. :(
I have been sorting through pictures from my trip though and have started working on things for my TR . . . y'all want to be my test audience? Here's the first "page" for my TR - tell me what you think! I realized that I really needed to go with a sort of photo-journal style since I have a TON of pictures I want to share, hence the "scrapbook style" look . . .
I can't wait to see your AG outfits! When you're done with your laundry - you can stop my MN and do mine quick. :cool1:
At this point, anyone who takes the time to read my PTR is amazing... IMO - there is waaaay too much to catch up on now. :surfweb:
Go for it! :thumbsup2 I love looking at then n' now pics, it's so much fun to see how everyone "grows up Disney"... :lovestruc
Anytime... I can't wait to see what you create! :surfweb:
What's a passporter??
It's a Disney touring book/organizer/planner type thingy... Love all of mine... :lovestruc They have a website... passporter.com
[OMG
Is that true?!?!?!? A little over a year and you are already THAT good?!?!? What did you use to learn how to sew?
LOL :wizard: Yup, it's true... :eek: I'm really not that good... I just take good pictures. :rolleyes1 Lots n' lots of practice, :lovestruc and then when you think you've practiced enough, practice some more. :thumbsup2
Soon enough, you will be at your 69 days, and I'll be cryin' :sad2: because I am at home with no plans for another tirp.... maybe.
Andrea - don't forget to swing by NC too! I have mostly clean clothes, but they need help making their way to closets and drawers!
I've missed you too! Glad you like my first page! I have 4 pages done and since I'm keeping it fairly simple, I think I'll actually start posting later tonight. . . well, IF I can think of a cute title that is . . . :rolleyes1 Suggestions welcome! :thumbsup2
My ILs - yup, piece of work sums them up! I really don't like myself when they're around - because I've found the only way I can deal with them is to sort of ignore them, which kills my inner "make everyone feel welcome and included" . . . but if I don't, I know I'd wind up telling them off for how horribly they treat DH and how much they make my children crazy.
Okay, okay, if you're gonna shine that bright light on me I'll confess. The stripwork jumper seemed a bit big without a shirt under it (it fit Ginger perfectly, which was the clue). I made it a tad smaller, and then it was snug when I put a t-shirt under it.
I'm with you -- I like making t-shirts. Here's a t-shirt I made to go with the auction for Barbara and the twirl skirt that seemed to have so much fabric at the waist that the t-shirt seemed a bit snug.
snowman012.gif
(Now that I see the photo again seems like the skirt may be a bit short.)
I just bought some fabric (fortunately I think it was another PTR where I wrote that I need to STOP buying fabric or START sewing). Get this . . .
I'm going to :laundy: it!!!!!!!
AND I may make something with it.
:faint: :faint: :faint:
BUMMER about the in-laws, but I :love::love::love:
1. your photos
2. the outfits and backpacks you made
2. CBR
The first time we went to CBR we had a two year old and a four year old and were at Trinity North or South, which ever one is the farthest away. Despite being sooooo far from Old Port Royale it quickly became our favorite resort. Lately I've been staying at different resorts, just to try them out, but CBR will always be our favorite -- of course, if they wanted to extend the monorail there, that would be nice, too.
Raise your hand if it's 18° with a wind chill of 7° where you live. :wave2:
:upsidedow Me<----- who really should be trying harder to hack into D~'s computer to get herself a spot on that trip that's happening in 68 days
