~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
The "x" on the bum means that the doll was purchased at the annual MCM benefit sale (Madison Children's Museum). Any of the dolls that AG receives back as returns or defects are donated to MCM... Regardless if that doll is in pristine condition and can be resold - AG won't ever put a returned doll back on the floor to be resold. The "x" is put on the bum to identify the doll to AG - so people can't return it or claim it's defective, because that's already been done once. These dolls have absolutely NO warranty from AG, so you can never get AGs help with a doll that was purchased from the MCM sale - they are "as is"... Other dolls go there, as well... Every 2 years, AG changes the "meet outfit" on the MyAG line - rather than undress and redress all those dolls, they are simply donated to the MCM sale - nothing wrong with them at all - they still get the nice little "x" on the bum though. When I went to the MCM sale 2 summers ago, I found a pristine Felicity in her original "meet outfit" (the Rose Garden Gown), AG had found an entire box of them in their warehouse - nothing wrong with them at all, except they were in the wrong outfit - so they got sent to the MCM sale. I was very excited to get this Felicity - AG archived her the following December - and I had a brand new Pleasant Company Felicity. :lovestruc
So, just be careful if you buy an "x" on the bum doll - they have no warranty - and the only way to get your $$ back is Ebay. Personally, unless I can look at the doll in person and verify it's a good doll, I would just buy from AG directly.
I will have to look into this, I thought of it a few weeks ago, but I am not sure how much it will actually save us, since I think we will be there much longer than what the tickets are valid for - I might be better off buying from Disney?
DH and were talking about taking a cruise to Amsterdam to celebrate when the girls graduate HS... LOL He'd have to take 3 months off of work though, because we'd spend a month on ths ship (taking the longest route possible), a month in The Netherlands and a month to come home... We would book a trip that leaves out of FL and we'd stop at WDW at both ends of the trip. :rotfl2: I better start planning. :thumbsup2
D~
Thank you for the "x" info -- I knew you would know and I was suspect. I think I may just take dd to DC and buy her a doll there. She wants to go. It may have to wait until spring though as I don't do snow (though it has been close to 70 degrees here lately). The dolls on e-bay seem to go for just about as much as they would new -- it was the same for the horses. I'd rather spend an extra $20 and get brand new. Though I'm still proud of my mom's $5 Samantha. And her hair is beautiful now that I bought dd a wig brush.
The military salute tickets saved us oodles, of course dh was with us and his tickets were free.
OMG on a three month trip!!! I went to Africa for a month vacation once and I thought that was a long time to be away. You are taking Cheryl and I and Lisa on that trip as well, correct? I think it's great that Lisa can join us. Alexa would probably like it if Megan came too. Get sewing now!!!!
Those military salute tickets save a lot....as long as you are only planning on going to the parks for 4 days...otherwise, adding days to it costs more than it would to just get the total amount from Disney.
This past year, we went for 8 days and the rest of the family went for 5 with 4 in the parks. All 6 of them used our tickets.
I don't think I could go for just 4 days...unless it was just a short trip! I thought about using them to go for the meet in January...but not happening...
I love the dresses. I have shown them to my daughter and she has fallen in love with them. Are you selling them on eBay?
I've been trying to finish (once I started :rolleyes1 ) a few things. I have F~O~U~R questions for you.
1. Do you always prewash fabric for doll clothes?
2. How did you finish the back (closures) for the original Fab Five? I have a pattern that I really like and it uses a zipper, which I don't mind, but it wants you to have the zipper all the way to the top of the garment, cut the ends of the zipper that are too long, and burn them to heat seal them. I'm not so crazy about that part. Velcro? Zippers? Something else?
3. As you know Dorrrine has long brown hair, because I couldn't find any with elegant short white hair like mine. I primarily got her to try on cothes, and I must say her hair gets in the way. (I haven't broken down and bought a hair brush yet, but if Santa leaves me enough money, and if we can still afford beans or rice the following week, I may buy one.) Are AG heads made to pop off? It would be so much easier if she didn't have a head -- maybe that's one of Ginger's charms.
snowman010.jpg
4. One down, 51 more to go before I get the free trip to Disney World. Where do I sign up for that?
And you thought you missed me!
:upsidedow
I can't answer all of your questions -- some of these relate to D~. Why are you asking her questions on my ptr???
I highly recommend velcro for AG doll clothing because it's easiest for kids to dress their dolls in. Button closures take more time to dress, though snaps could work well (but I hate sewing them on things -- mine always look sloppy! Zippers??? What are those? I just got my lot of e-bay clothes and I think most of the things were velcro and some snaps for pants.
I also recommend prewashing for absolutely anything -- I just like to get any nasties out of the fabric (dyes and crap). I wash all my new clothes before I wear them.
I bought my dd a wig brush from Sally's and it works beautiful on the doll's hair. My dd can even make the dolls hair look perfect now! It was less than $5, but more than $4 so you may have to eat ramen for the week, but if you're like my dh and kids that shouldn't be a problem. I can't recall how many ¢ it was over the $4 (I just had to add that so you know I paid close attention to my lessons ºoº).
Don't worry, I already have you signed up for the trip. So far it's you, Lisa, myself and my dd. I suggested that Lisa also bring Megan along.
What are you doing with all the doll clothes you make? I love the snowman!!!
Me <------ who should be sewing AG clothes for my dd but have to work on a birthday gift for someone else instead
So since you came over to say hi on my PTR I thought I would come over and retun the favor. :thumbsup2 Now I just have to catch up, and with almost 100 pages it is going to take me awile. :lmao:
Welcome!!! Yah, my PTR is a bit thick... Probably because Andrea thinks it's hers. :confused3 Most of the important things are listed on my Table of Contents page. :thumbsup2 And that's a quick read becase it's mostly pictures. :rolleyes1
These are two of the pin sets they had, I think there were a couple of other sets. I'll let you know if I can pick some up for you. Those hip lanyards look like something you could make fairly easily! They feel like they have something stiff inside, maybe a piece of plastic, or cardboard.
These would be awesome, and you said you got them for $7.99? That would just be amazing! :lovestruc
I had a dream last night (no joke) that you found me a set of 100 pins for $29.99. I ordered 2. ROFL
looks who's going to Disneyland!
D~ sent you a text too, but wanted to share here! Megan loves her bag!
P1090440.jpg
I am so glad that Megan loves her bag... I thought you had given it to her when you got it???? I think I misunderstood. I hope you all have a wonderful time and enjoy your Christmas trip! :lovestruc
Thank you for the "x" info -- I knew you would know and I was suspect. I think I may just take dd to DC and buy her a doll there. She wants to go. It may have to wait until spring though as I don't do snow (though it has been close to 70 degrees here lately). I agree about the dolls, at a savings of $20, it's really not worth it if you can't get the AG warranty - which is FOREVER, btw.
Like Nini said before, the salute tickets are only for 4 days. The way I understand the ticket rules, is each service member is allowed 6 tickets, however Disney won't activate the 6th ticket unless the service member is there. We need 8 days, so by the time we purchased 5 tickets, then a 5th from Disney (not even sure we could use the tickets that way - DDs would get two salute tickets, one for the first 4 ddays one for the 2nd 4 days). We are just better off going through Disney - if we did save any $$, I don't think it would be worth the hassle of risking it, if it didn't work. This is how I understand those tickets anyways - and besides, I am pretty sure it is cheaper to buy from Disney at this point. According to my notes (and I could be waaay off) adding the extra 8 days onto our tickets is only $400 (not my earlier quoted price) - I still have to call Disney to confirm that - so, $138x 5= 690, then I would still have to buy 4 more days from Disney... So even if it's my original quoted price, it would still be cheaper to buy directly from Disney. Make sense? If we were only going to be there for 4 more days, I would have definately gone that route because it would have saved us a bunch of $$.
OMG on a three month trip!!! I went to Africa for a month vacation once and I thought that was a long time to be away. You are taking Cheryl and I and Lisa on that trip as well, correct? I think it's great that Lisa can join us. Alexa would probably like it if Megan came too. Get sewing now!!!!
I didn't realize I quoted you... LOL I just kind of answered this above, but I said the same thing as you.
I love the dresses. I have shown them to my daughter and she has fallen in love with them. Are you selling them on eBay?
Welcome! And thank you.
I've been trying to finish (once I started :rolleyes1 ) a few things. I have F~O~U~R questions for you.
1. Do you always prewash fabric for doll clothes?
Yes, I always prewash fabric for everything I do. With dolls, it's especially important because they are prone to dye transfer - even to their vinyl - which is very difficult to remove. Washing the fabric really decreases the chances of this happening.
2. How did you finish the back (closures) for the original Fab Five? I have a pattern that I really like and it uses a zipper, which I don't mind, but it wants you to have the zipper all the way to the top of the garment, cut the ends of the zipper that are too long, and burn them to heat seal them. I'm not so crazy about that part. Velcro? Zippers? Something else?
I almost always use velcro, even though I hate it because it's constantly snagging the doll's hair - but it's very easy for little hands to operate. And honestly - I use a lot of elastic too, because it stretches enough to get on the dolls, but keeps the fit nice.
3. As you know Dorrrine has long brown hair, because I couldn't find any with elegant short white hair like mine. I primarily got her to try on cothes, and I must say her hair gets in the way. (I haven't broken down and bought a hair brush yet, but if Santa leaves me enough money, and if we can still afford beans or rice the following week, I may buy one.) Are AG heads made to pop off? It would be so much easier if she didn't have a head -- maybe that's one of Ginger's charms.
You can pop her head off, just untie the striings (don't take the string out though. There is a small trick to getting it back on though - so you can ask me that when the time comes. :thumbsup2
However, just note, the heads do get in the way of dressing, and they are an obstical to over come. If you don't have the head on, you will have no way of knowing if you can dress over the head. Most outfits are actually made to slide on from the bottom up - at least mine and AG's are. Just so you know that. A pony tail is a nice way to keep the hair out of the way too. :lovestruc
This dress is truly adorable Cheryl! I love it!
4. One down, 51 more to go before I get the free trip to Disney World. Where do I sign up for that?
I know, I know... I totally dropped the ball on my 51 outfits. :sad2: But I am still creating, so maybe I should change the title of my PTR to reflect this? I've thought about doing that a lot over the last few weeks. :confused3
And you thought you missed me!
:upsidedow
We did miss you... :rolleyes1
I am exhausted... I went Christmas shopping with my neighbor yesterday... We didn't finish until stores closed at 11 pm. It was crazy! But fun!
We have one more gift to make to give tomorrow, so I will be helping V with that project today.
I just realized yesterday, that I only have one day this coming week to finish Allison's bag. I work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. The girls are off of school on Friday. So, it must be done on Tuesday! ACK! Plus, I haven't even started wrapping gifts... EEK!!!! So, that must be done on Tuesday, as well. If necessary, I can finish some of Allison's bag on Friday - I'll just have to barricade my sewing room door, so she doesn't see. :rolleyes1 But my goal is for Tuesday.
D~
These would be awesome, and you said you got them for $7.99? That would just be amazing! :lovestruc
Yes, $7.99 - some were originally 24.95 and some were $29.99!
I had a dream last night (no joke) that you found me a set of 100 pins for $29.99. I ordered 2. ROFL
Well, I've been told I'm a good bargain hunter, but not that good :lmao:
I have an extra set of the WDW pin set, you can definately have that, I don't know if they have any left, but I will definately look next time I go to St. Augustine to shop. I have pins I've had for a while that would be good for trading........ you want to barter out some sewing? I really need a mickey zip wallet to go with my lovely Mickey bag :rolleyes1
When we got our tickets they were for five days. That was two years ago though so they may have changed the way they do things. I remember dh was completely free and they did not charge extra for park hopper for him as I had originally been told they would. We bought them at SOG b/c they only had one ticket left in Norfolk between our oodles of bases but we did have to have them activated at our first park (which was no big deal and I don't even know if dh had to be present -- I can't remember -- happens with age, ask Cheryl).
And speaking of Cheryl, please don't tell her how to pop Dorrrine's head off!!!! This could spell d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r!!!!!! Do you want Dorrrine to run around looking like Ginger! :crazy2:
I haven't wrapped many presents yet either -- just a couple. I have to figure out what to give dd for Christmas and what to give her for her birthday. Should I make her wait 24 hours for the horse???
Yes...those military salute tickets used to be for 5 days... at least they did not have a price increase when they went to 4 days (at least not the first year!) They do require someone with a military ID to activate them at the first park, but after that they are fine without the service member. The first year the service member was free...now they have to use on e of the tickets...in fact this past year a new part of the fine print said that one of the tickets HAD to be used by the service member... but they were not enforcing that part.
I think our upcoming trip will be the first time we haven't used them in some form. I just wished they offered a discount on the MVMCP tickets like they did on the MNSSHP tickets! That would save us a ton of money!
We always buy our Military Salute tickets at SOG...gives me an excuse to go there to get some Starbucks! Of course, both times we went this past trip, Starbucks was closed! GRRRR! (good thing I took our mini Keurig! There is no way I could go the whole trip without REAL coffee!)
Hmm...wrapping presents...that is a novel idea. Probably should get around to that at some point! LOL!
I have a couple of back stories first...
1. Blyssful (Beth) is AWESOME
2. Blyssful is my mystery Diser who is helping me with my project.
3. Blyssful is still AWESOME
4. Blyssful did an AMAZING job on above said project
5. Blyssful contunues to be AWESOME
6. Blyssful sent Pixie Dust for my girls
7. My girls say the Blyssful is AWESOME too! :thumbsup2
8. Blyssful put a really huge smile on my girls' faces today
9. Did I mention that Blyssful is AWESOME???
10. Blyssful - You are the BEST!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc
OK... Now for another back story... And NO, you do not get to see what Beth helped me with yet... gonna have to wait until Tuesday... Probably LATE Tuesday.
First, I had to circumvent the Pixie Dust delivery to pull out what else was in the box...
Then... My girls have NEVER been Pixie Dusted... And honestly had no idea what it was. I've told them before that "I am Pixie Dusting so-n-so" but they've never really known (or realized) what Pixie Dusting is. I can guarantee you - right this minute - they are BIG FANS of being on the receiving end of Pixie Dusting. :banana:
So, before they got to peek inside the box, I had to explain to them what Pixie Dusting is, and the contents in the box are a gift made especially for them to make them feel happy from our friends on The Dis.
And, of course, they have to goof off, as usual...
IMG_24021.jpg
First, they got Fairy word searches...
IMG_24032.jpg
And a bag of candy for each of them (then are consuming it as I type)
IMG_24054.jpg
IMG_24065.jpg
And probably their favorite items in the box... Beth made them each a set of hair bows - and let me tell you... They are soooo ADORABLE... Beth - they want more - llike, they are requesting (they never request anything!)... I will be contacting you to see if you are interested in a Non-Pixie Dust order. :thumbsup2
Aren't these CUTE????
So, from the bottom of my heart... THANK YOU SO MUCH BETH - you are AWESOME!!!!!
D~ <--- Who can't wait to show you all what else was in that box!!!! :lovestruc
oh that is awesome D.
I want to do one of those tic tac toe sets if I get a chance LOL
Awww, I'm so glad they got everything and liked it and for the "awesome" status. I know they are older but who doesn't love a goodie bag??! :) I love the pictures... thanks so much for sharing!!!
Can't wait to see your finished product.. I know after you put your finishing touches on it, it's going to be TDF!
OMG on a three month trip!!! I went to Africa for a month vacation once and I thought that was a long time to be away. You are taking Cheryl and I and Lisa on that trip as well, correct? I think it's great that Lisa can join us. Alexa would probably like it if Megan came too. Get sewing now!!!!
I can't answer all of your questions -- some of these relate to D~. Why are you asking her questions on my ptr???
Good point. Since it's your PTR I should ask my twirl skirt question. I spent way too much time last week trying to make an AG stripwork twirl. I was trying to make an attached underskirt (it didn't make the final "cut") and the waistband a separate piece. If you've done it for a doll do you remember measurements and did you do a separate waistband?
I highly recommend velcro for AG doll clothing because it's easiest for kids to dress their dolls in. Button closures take more time to dress, though snaps could work well (but I hate sewing them on things -- mine always look sloppy! Zippers??? What are those? I just got my lot of e-bay clothes and I think most of the things were velcro and some snaps for pants.
Kinda what I thought. I just have to modify the pattern a bit so I can do velcro. Not to mention, zippers aren't cheap -- unlike me :rotfl2:
I also recommend prewashing for absolutely anything -- I just like to get any nasties out of the fabric (dyes and crap). I wash all my new clothes before I wear them.
I don't wash fabric as soon as I get it home, and when I just need an itty bitty bit for AG clothes I'm kinda lazy. Good to know that both you and D~ wash. Maybe I can change my evil ways.
I bought my dd a wig brush from Sally's and it works beautiful on the doll's hair. My dd can even make the dolls hair look perfect now! It was less than $5, but more than $4 so you may have to eat ramen for the week, but if you're like my dh and kids that shouldn't be a problem. I can't recall how many ¢ it was over the $4 (I just had to add that so you know I paid close attention to my lessons ºoº).
over $4???? :faint: That'll blow my husband's social security check this month.
PS :teacher: Extra ¢redit for you! °o°
What are you doing with all the doll clothes you make? I love the snowman!!!
The woman who bid on Barbara's auction was so generous that I've made a couple extra outfits for her.
looks who's going to Disneyland!
D~ sent you a text too, but wanted to share here! Megan loves her bag!
th_P1090440.jpg
You mean some people actually go to Disney?!!??! I thought people just wrote about going. I like the idea of a real live trip.
The Toy Story bag is great. Another fabulous D~ creation.
Yes, I always prewash fabric for everything I do. With dolls, it's especially important because they are prone to dye transfer - even to their vinyl - which is very difficult to remove. Washing the fabric really decreases the chances of this happening.
Good point about the dye to vinyl transfer. :artist:
I almost always use velcro, even though I hate it because it's constantly snagging the doll's hair - but it's very easy for little hands to operate. And honestly - I use a lot of elastic too, because it stretches enough to get on the dolls, but keeps the fit nice.
Okay, then. Velcro is is.
You can pop her head off, just untie the striings (don't take the string out though. There is a small trick to getting it back on though - so you can ask me that when the time comes. :thumbsup2
However, just note, the heads do get in the way of dressing, and they are an obstical to over come. If you don't have the head on, you will have no way of knowing if you can dress over the head. Most outfits are actually made to slide on from the bottom up - at least mine and AG's are. Just so you know that. A pony tail is a nice way to keep the hair out of the way too. :lovestruc
I'm probably a little askared to actually pop the head off. I'll keep you posted.
It's probably the new math.
Hmmmmmm. I think I read about that once, but I don't remember.
Hi D~ from DISNEYLAND!
a couple of CM's thought Megan's bag was so CUTE!!!
today was fun....got a photo of Donald's boat all decorated for Christmas! will send it to you soon!
can't upload photos, internet is SLOW!!
:wave2:
Remember me?
I told you I'd try to sit down with the computer tonight and catch up! I've posted in the Disboutiquer thread & on Judy's TR . . . of course, I'm having internet issues, so I might NOT have actually posted in either of those places, but I THINK I have :confused3 that's the point, right?
LOVE LOVE LOVE it all! Love the "not to be named" wallet, LOVE that you loved your pixie dust, LOVE that I could help you out with at least some of the items you requested (really wish I could have found something to fulfill the other request though :( ), LOVE Beth! LOVE the pixie dust she sent the girls! LOVE her kind & generous heart :)
Love that Cheryl is back! And that Andrea's PTR is going so well! Love that you called me today just when I really needed a pick-me-up! :hug:
Are you a AAA member? You should check with your local AAA (if you are a member) to see what prices their Disney tickets are - I know AAA Southern New England's tickets are actually cheaper than Disney's - they have awesome buying power :) AAA Montana's are NOT cheaper, so like I said, you have to check and see. . .
Hmm - I had other ideas for some of your questions - I wanted to quote, but it wouldn't let me :confused3 Oh! Breakfast on the go ideas! What about the Market Pantry Protein bars? We brought two boxes with us on our trip - Chocolate Mint & Caramel Pecan - in case one of us needed a quick snack to take the hunger edge off. The boys also had a box of Z bars (the chocolate chip or the S'mores are their favorites).
And I think you need to break the news to Andrea (and Cheryl) - I called dibs on that 4th spot in your room a long time ago - remember, it was payment for the personal delivery of your pattern this summer :lmao: I did have to skip my original flight home and all you know :lmao:
oh that is awesome D.
I want to do one of those tic tac toe sets if I get a chance LOL
I know - it is super CUTE!!!
Awww, I'm so glad they got everything and liked it and for the "awesome" status. I know they are older but who doesn't love a goodie bag??! I love the pictures... thanks so much for sharing!!!
Can't wait to see your finished product.. I know after you put your finishing touches on it, it's going to be TDF!
Everything is MAGNIFICANT! I can't wait to get it all together on Tuesday!
Thanks. It was fun to make, although I broke down and used ric rac. In general I'm not a ric rac fan.
tag fairy -- I'll help you out. My tag can be
I don't do Starbucks.
I don't do Facebook.
I don't do ric rac.*
*except this once
I've never understood the "Tag Fairy" thing???? Someone care to enlighten me? :lovestruc
Good point. Since it's your PTR I should ask my twirl skirt question. I spent way too much time last week trying to make an AG stripwork twirl. I was trying to make an attached underskirt (it didn't make the final "cut") and the waistband a separate piece. If you've done it for a doll do you remember measurements and did you do a separate waistband?
I will tell you about the only patchwork twirl skirt I've ever tried to make... It turned out more like a lamp shade - it was one of my first skirts ever - and we all thought it was sooo funny because one of the girls put it on the doll's head and it made the perfect hat... the following night, in my sleepless hours, Goofy's hat was born.
I have never done a stripwork twirl skirt alone, I have only ever done one that's attached to the bodice of a dress... I do know that the measurments are double for each additional row...
Kinda what I thought. I just have to modify the pattern a bit so I can do velcro. Not to mention, zippers aren't cheap -- unlike me
And I don't think that zippers are expensive... However, you live on a ramen noodle budget... We graduated from that a few years ago, and we are mostly a Rice-a-Roni family.
I don't wash fabric as soon as I get it home, and when I just need an itty bitty bit for AG clothes I'm kinda lazy. Good to know that both you and D~ wash. Maybe I can change my evil ways.
I don't wash it the minute I get home either - usually - unless I have a project in my head. But I do wash everything before I sew with it - the fabric is so much easier to work with. However, I don't press it after washing unless it's really bad.
The woman who bid on Barbara's auction was so generous that I've made a couple extra outfits for her.
That is sooo awesome!
You mean some people actually go to Disney?!!??! I thought people just wrote about going. I like the idea of a real live trip.
Sometimes they do... The rest of the people there are just props.
The Toy Story bag is great. Another fabulous D~ creation.
Thanks, it is one of my favorites, and I really want one for myself - I fell in love with it while I was making it!
I'm probably a little askared to actually pop the head off. I'll keep you posted.
-----> whoops, there it goes
You must say that to yourself a lot? :surfweb:
I'm sending that photo to the crime lab to have your address reconstructed. Be on the lookout for mail from me. It may or may not be a past due bill for Dorrrine with hefty interest charges.
Ack! I doubt they'll be able to reconstruct anything...
D... love the not to be named wallet
Thanks! :)
:sad: I have been begging for one for a long time but the TG Fairy doesn't like me
Ok, seriously - I've heard of these Tag Fairies, but I have no idea what they are???
Hi D~ from DISNEYLAND!
a couple of CM's thought Megan's bag was so CUTE!!!
Cool! :lovestruc
today was fun....got a photo of Donald's boat all decorated for Christmas! will send it to you soon!
can't upload photos, internet is SLOW!!
Can't wait to see - I don't think I have ever seen Donald's boat decorated for Christmas - that alone could justify another trip... :wizard:
:wave2:
Remember me?
Whoo - hoo!!! I Marianne!!! Glad your pc let you come back for a minute! :thumbsup2
:I told you I'd try to sit down with the computer tonight and catch up! I've posted in the Disboutiquer thread & on Judy's TR . . . of course, I'm having internet issues, so I might NOT have actually posted in either of those places, but I THINK I have :confused3 that's the point, right?
Well, you've posted here... So your odds are looking good. I need to get over to the Disbou thread - it's been quite a few days.
:LOVE LOVE LOVE it all! Love the "not to be named" wallet, LOVE that you loved your pixie dust, LOVE that I could help you out with at least some of the items you requested (really wish I could have found something to fulfill the other request though ), LOVE Beth! LOVE the pixie dust she sent the girls! LOVE her kind & generous heart :)
Love that Cheryl is back! And that Andrea's PTR is going so well!
I love it all too! :lovestruc
Love that you called me today just when I really needed a pick-me-up!
I think we both needed one. :thumbsup2
Are you a AAA member? You should check with your local AAA (if you are a member) to see what prices their Disney tickets are - I know AAA Southern New England's tickets are actually cheaper than Disney's - they have awesome buying power :) AAA Montana's are NOT cheaper, so like I said, you have to check and see. . .
I am not a AAA member. :confused3 We have really good roadside assistance through our insurance co. so we've never bothered looking into AAA.
:Hmm - I had other ideas for some of your questions - I wanted to quote, but it wouldn't let me :confused3 Oh! Breakfast on the go ideas! What about the Market Pantry Protein bars? We brought two boxes with us on our trip - Chocolate Mint & Caramel Pecan - in case one of us needed a quick snack to take the hunger edge off. The boys also had a box of Z bars (the chocolate chip or the S'mores are their favorites).
Actually, that is a very good idea! :thumbsup2 I was thinking of hauling our suitcases up to my bedroom after Chrismas, so I could start "packing"... Ie: Throwing everything I think of into one location, so when I need to start packing, it's all there. :wizard:
:And I think you need to break the news to Andrea (and Cheryl) - I called dibs on that 4th spot in your room a long time ago - remember, it was payment for the personal delivery of your pattern this summer :lmao: I did have to skip my original flight home and all you know :lmao:
Oh, that's right... How could I have forgotten about that? Yup - that extra bed space is reserved for Marianne... She also has a spot reserved on my sewing counter. Sorry to disappoint... However, Andrea has second dibs, because she HAND DREW a pattern for me and sent it out... And Blyssfull also has second dibs because of this huge project she is helping me with... Lisa and Chiara also have seconds, just because I like them. And everyone else here... I think I might have to draw ###s? Gotta keep it fair. :rolleyes1
Have a family Christmas party to go to today. It's my mom's family - we are a very large family... 100s of cousins and cousins children - we all have to wear name tags. I know all my immediate cousins, but their kids - not so much - there's just so many. Which means, I will be on the road all day. The girls and I will leave this morning, we have to go about 30 miles out of our way to pick up my brother, then on to the Christmas party. On the way home, we are stopping at my Dad's to celebrate a small Christmas, then dropping my brother off and headed home. I am hoping to be home at a decent hour, because I have to work tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow... It's probably gonna be a rough one for me, kind of have mixed feelings about working. It's the anniversary of my Mom's death... The 20th anniversary, to be exact. She was very sick my whole life, and as long as I remember, I was groomed to know that she was going to die early in my life. That never made it any easier for me, and as a pre-teen and teen, I pulled away from her because I thought it would hurt less when she died. I'll probably regret that for the rest of my life, because I still regret it now. She was a very strong and courageous woman who fought every second for every breath she took, and in a way, it was a relief when God granted her peace. I was only 16 when she died, and on the anniversary of her death - so close to Christmas - I always try to reflect on the memories that I have left of her, because most of them are quite blurry. In the recent years, I think to myself that I have lived most of my life with out her, and that makes me so sad. I pray that my girls never have to live with out me.
Anyways, I thought I would share a couple of pictures of my Mom...
This is probably my favorite picture of my mom... She is the younger one. 9 more siblings followed after this...
And her with her older sister (my mom is on the left)...
And my parent's wedding...
That's all... Thanks for looking and letting me share. :lovestruc
D~
Sorry D~
I was grown and had grown kids when I lost my Mom 7 years ago. Since it was sudden, we didn't have time to prepare (as if you could ever prepare for that). My biggest regret is that I do not remember our last conversation that morning. I only remember that she was angry at me for something. She wouldn't even tell me good bye when I left for work.
Since Christmas was her (and mine) favorite time of the year I always spend a lot of time missing her during these days.
Lots of hugs today and tomorrow!
Nini
OH D, I am so so sorry. I don't think time makes things all that much easier. I just think we learn to deal better.
I will be thinking of you and sending lots of ((((HUGS))) your way.
