~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I'll comment on everyone's comments later... rushing before I have to get ready for work...
Valid concern Liddy... And since I am there with you that day... It's truly a valid concern for me, as well. :rolleyes1
D~
:lmao::rotfl2:
Ok... I am at work and I have HUGE trip news....
Airfare dropped last night for our 'perfect flights'. I about died when I logged in this morning and saw that. However, eventhough it's on sale it's still about $50 over my budget. So I left for work this morning, and didn't buy airfare.
So, I've been kicking myself since and lamenting over it...
DH just came to see me at work... He bought the girls and i our airfare this morning as our Christmas gift!
Have I told you all how wonderful my dh is recently???? He's the best! We are now, officially, going to Disney... Window seats to boot!
D~
That is sooo awesome! YAY D! :woohoo::woohoo: Your DH is wonderful!!! Be sure to tell him that we are proud of him for being so awesome! (And jealous!) :lmao:
I am finally fully caught up on your trip report! Phew!
Congrats on getting Patience and Mr. Rocket squared away! I would never have known needles could wreak such havoc! I also didn't know we're supposed to swap them out every 6 hours of sewing time or so. (Who says reading the Dis isn't educational! :) )
I don't think I've mentioned before, but like everyone else, I LOVE your planner! Have you thought about marketing that at all? There are all kinds of printable things for sale on Etsy. I am completely inept with photoshop, so I would gladly pay for that kind of thing. (I did for decorations and other printable things for dd's birthday party, as a matter of fact.)
How wonderful that you were able to add days for less money on your trip! And, what an awesome thing for your dh to do! Merry Christmas to you!
Regards,
C.
Yeah about the airfare! :cool1:
As for CS meals:
MK-Columbia Harbour House
Pecos Bills
Epcot: Tangierine Cafe (Morocco)
Fish & Chips are usually yummy @ UK
And anything from the Norway or France bakery! YUM!
:dance3: WOW! Your DH is the best and you got a perfect Christmas gift too. You must be so relieved, but for selfish reasons I hope this doesn't slow down your progress in sewing. I just love seeing all of your wonderful designs and ideas :rotfl2:
Seems like you got alot of great advice for your CS selections. I'll have to keep those in mind for our next trip. EofS in DTD was by far the best counter service that we had in WDW, especially for the price and I don't even like sanwiches. Plenty of yummy choices at a very reasonable price. On our last trip we ate at Pinocchio Village Haus in MK and it was pretty good. Lots of food and we got there a little before the lunch crowd so we could get a seat overlooking small world. We like to eat at place in the Land Pavillion too, it has a good selection and we can usually coordinate the our meal with our FP return time to Soarin' (or get more fast passes).
Your planner looks great and I can't wait to see your next project. :surfweb:
I LOVE your park bag!! (Can you tell I'm a bit behind?! :) ) SO CUTE!!!
Thanks so much... :lovestruc
DTD is easily Earl of Sandwich! It has become a staple of or trips! At MK, we love Cosmic Rays. It is one place we can all get something different. At Epcot, we like the CS in Living with the Land...I can't remember the name, but it again has lots of different selections.
At DHS, we like Studios Catering and Backlot Express. Of course the ABC commissary is good for a nice air conditioned break.
At AK, there are only 2 that we have ever tried...Flametree and Yak & Yeti.
As you see, we are not all that adventurous for our CS meals! LOL. We tend to do the same ones each trip. We did try Columbia Harbor House once, but since none of us are big on Fish sandwiches...
Nini
OK, so lots of recommendations for EoS in DTD... I will have to go check out their menu - we are not picky eaters, just big eaters... 3 squares a day at our house, plus snacks. popcorn::
ok will try to wait patiently for your next big reveal popcorn::
CS options!
DTD - DEFINATELY Earl of Sandwich - get the Caprese sandwich SO YUMMY!! you get the entree, drink and either chips, dessert so we each get a sandwich, drink and then shared the chips and dessert...we actually ate there twice!
MK - Cosmic Rays - their chicken meal is enough to share with two
AK - Flametree
Epcot - I love Mexico, always get the chicken tacos!!! - China is good too, Megan's fav - and France's bakery is a great choice too, plenty to choose from.
More EoS at DTD... really must go check out their menu.
I got your Christmas card today... I love it... I am really bad at doing Christmas cards - some years I do them, some I don't... I haven't decided this year. LOL But thank you, I saved it to hang on my cork board that I will someday get. :thumbsup2
What great news and what an awesome husband!
Thank you... I know - he is just the best. I doubt he did it because he wants to get rid of us, or anything. :confused3
WONDERFUL!!! what a sweet DH you have!
I know, super excited... I've been grinning all day!
That is sooo awesome! YAY D! Your DH is wonderful!!! Be sure to tell him that we are proud of him for being so awesome! (And jealous!)
I will be sure to tell him... I am totally :worship: him today.
I am finally fully caught up on your trip report! Phew!
Wow Carrie, I am impressed! :cool1: I am not even sure I could catch up on my own PTR if I fell behind. :rotfl2:
Congrats on getting Patience and Mr. Rocket squared away! I would never have known needles could wreak such havoc! I also didn't know we're supposed to swap them out every 6 hours of sewing time or so. (Who says reading the Dis isn't educational!
Thanks... I know, it's so educational... I am just glad they are both fixed. Mr Rocket still has the occasional attitude - but nothing I can't live with, for the time being. :thumbsup2
Thanks... I really like making them, but I am getting super annoyed that I keep changing my plans, then I have to change all my planner pages - I just need to quit changing my mind. LOL I think, after our trip is done, I'd think about making them for people... I've made a couple for Disers that have asked... :thumbsup2
How wonderful that you were able to add days for less money on your trip! And, what an awesome thing for your dh to do! Merry Christmas to you!
I know, I am just so excited that it happend that way... I never dreamed we'd be able to go for longer. :thumbsup2
Yeah about the airfare! :cool1:
Pecos Bills
I was thinking of Pecos Bills too... we always end up going there, and we really enjoy their food - I know it's just hamburgers - but we really LIKE hamburgers. :thumbsup2
I was also thinking Fish & Chips in Epcot... that actually sounds delicious right this minute.
:dance3: WOW! Your DH is the best and you got a perfect Christmas gift too. You must be so relieved, but for selfish reasons I hope this doesn't slow down your progress in sewing. I just love seeing all of your wonderful designs and ideas :rotfl2:
No worries... I still have a long ways to go to pay off my trip... So, I will be sewing. Then I will have lots of other things I need to pay for that my sewing will subsidize, like our park tickets (remember, I backed those down to 2 days, because I was worried that we wouldn't be able to pay them off in time, and that made our trip cheaper - that's a huge chunk of change), and our souviniers (we love to buy LOTS of souviniers), our tips (let's be honest, we aren't very good tippers) and a couple of OOP meals (but we love to eat)... Not to fear - I fully intend to be creating right up until the day we leave. :thumbsup2 Not to mention all the customs I still need to make. :lovestruc
Another vote for EofS... I need to go look at their menu right away... popcorn::
Thanks!
I am really excited about my next project... I drew it up today, and it is going to be super fabulous awesome. It is actually a gift for my youngest dd for Christmas, and I am just so excited about it. Unfortunately, I can only work on it while she is in school - so it might take a while. :surfweb: Then I have another similar project in mind for my oldest dd - which is in the works and I am recruiting some outside help from a fellow Diser (:lovestruc)... And of course, D~ must make some accessories too.... :rolleyes1
I couldn't remember the name of the CS place in Morocco. We got a couple of different main dishes and shared them. We love kabobs, falafel and shwarma! Living around DC we have the chance to eat lots of different ethnic foods. But I think Epcot has some that we don't usually eat at home. Especially the pastries in Norway and France. LOL!
Glad you got your card...I had to put a little of Jim included :goodvibes with Goofy!
so since your DH is giving you such a fabulous gift for Christmas, what is he getting :rolleyes1
tip on spending money....figure out how much you want for the extras and put it on a Disney gift card....when its gone its gone....worked great for Megan and me too :lmao:
if you go to E of S...go around 11 for lunch...before the crowd hits! it gets busy, but the line moves really quick!
ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just went and checked my email...
DH accidentally booked our airfare for 3/5 - 3/15 instead of 3/6-3/15
He is on the phone with the airline right now trying to get it figured out... ACK!!!!!!
D~
Can't go wrong with E of S---and I love the Morocco counter service, too. Huge servings!
ruh-roh hope they will fix it without charging you...
OK, it's fixed... They waved all the fees because we called with in 24 hours of booking.
Phew...
D~ <--- who wouldn't have minded yet another day in Disney. LOL
At least you figured it out now and not a week before your trip. I was thinking another day in Disney would be a good bonus but I'm glad you got it straightened out. You must have been stressing.....
Good luck with your secret project.
I will have to look at the menu for Morocco. :lovestruc
We did stop for pastries in France the last time we were there - DH ordered everything for us - and I don't remember them being that great. :confused3 I don't remember what he ordered though.
I know that a lot of people talk about the pastries in Norway - might have to check them out this time. :lovestruc
Glad you got your card...I had to put a little of Jim included :goodvibes with Goofy!]/quote]
I did see that. :hug:
so since your DH is giving you such a fabulous gift for Christmas, what is he getting :rolleyes1
He wants the B&N Nook - touch screen but not color. So, he is definately getting that. It won't be a surprise though - which I don't like - but I was really clueless on which one he wanted, so he did a lot of research for me. :surfweb: I really wanted to make him an awesome cover - but he wants a purchased one - because he wants the hard case. :confused3
tip on spending money....figure out how much you want for the extras and put it on a Disney gift card....when its gone its gone....worked great for Megan and me too :lmao:
We did this last time too. I agree, it worked out wonderfully... the girls even had some of their own cash, just because, we didn't want them to come home with just Disney GCs that they could only spend in Disney. So, the spent the GCs first, then they worked on their cash - then when we came home, if they had any leftovers, they were free to spend anywhere. I don't think they had any leftovers though. :rolleyes1
if you go to E of S...go around 11 for lunch...before the crowd hits! it gets busy, but the line moves really quick!
Thanks for the tip. :thumbsup2 I did go look at their menu last night... the ordering process looked a bit confusing. It looks like everything is prepackaged, but the sandwiches are made fresh? It looks like you go through a cafeteria type line to order, then you wait for your sandwiches at the end? And it also looks like there are free refills - is that for the whole day or just while you are in the restaurant? And is it cups with lids and straws that you can take with you around DTD??? :surfweb:
Can't go wrong with E of S---and I love the Morocco counter service, too. Huge servings!
Hmmm... You all must know something about these places - glad I asked. :thumbsup2
Thank goodness! But another day wouldn't have been that bad! :thumbsup2
So glad you got everything resolved! :goodvibes
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
great news!!
I know... I really do have an awesome DH. He kept asking me what I wanted for Christmas... and all along I've been saying Disney GCs, so I can pay for our trip - but this is just as awesome. I am really close to paying off our trip - and I don't think I will have any problems doing so - and now I don't have to worry about trying to save for airfare on top of that. It was just a really huge burden off of me, I can't even express how much it means... Besides, he fully admitted last night that he is looking foward to 11 days of a quiet house. :confused3
Well, I officially have a week off of work. I am using this week to complete some of the girls' Christmas gifts. I have to run to JoAnn's this morning and get some fabric, and I also have to run to the PO. I really want to get to JA's and get right home, so I can get the fabric washed up and start cutting out pattern pieces.
I am just even more excited about our trip now that we have airfare - it just seems so real. We are definately going. :thumbsup2 :lovestruc
Still lovin' all my new fonts. :thumbsup2
I also wanted to let you all know that I updated my planning post on page 1 of my PTR Link to post. Just in case you want to read it. Some people get into that sort of thing and want to critique - and others don't. :surfweb: But I wanted to let everyone know it's updated. :thumbsup2
D~
it seems like forever since I have posted. Just know I have been following! Great news on the airfare!
For counter service (and this is with an EXTREMELY picky eater):
DTD - I agree with everyone else...Earl of Sandwich...my picky eater was able to get a plain PB sandwich and a shake which made him happy. The ordering is not as confusing as it seems...the people are friendly and helpful...We have not tried Wolfgang Puck Express, but if it is anyting like the table service it should be yummy too,,,and I have heard nothing but good things about them.
Studios...we like Starring Rolls Bakery. I have only heard consistent good things about Backlot Express. We did not like ABC Commissary. We used to eat at Fairfax Fries when it was a McDonalds sponsored place, but don't know about it know.
AK...I was not impressed with Yak & Yeti. Again we went to the McDonalds places which are no longer in exsistance...have always heard good things sbout Flame Tree...Pizzafari is generic pizza
EPCOT...we love the are in the Land (LOTS of CHOICES for everyone)...I have enjoyed the chinese counter service too.
MK...Casey's Corner, Cosmic Rays...never been to Columbia Harbor House, but people say it is good and has a quiet place to sit upstairs.
Lynn
