I just bought so many cute patterns online to make for my three girls for our trip in august/september. I had planned on making them some animal kingdom zebra strip skirts, a hawaiian one for Ohana, etc and my sewing maching from the 70's has officially DIED!!! I don't have the funds to replace it or repair it, and everyone I've asked, doesn't own one to borrow. WAHHH!!!!! :sad1: I'm so upset and will have to probably spend too much and find some on ebay because I promised my girls. I don't like breaking promises. :(

Just needed to vent.

That really stinks. I'm sorry :( Have you thought about looking on craigslist?

yes - our area is horrible. They are selling stuff at astrinomical prices just to try and get some money. Income is horrible here.

They are so expensive on ebay, too. And the outfits are expensive - For three sets, I could buy a new sewing machine at wal mart. lol

Hey disers - are we able to post our ebay user ids on here for those who sew? I don't know if its allowed or not.

Try looking on walmart.com They have some inexpensive ones ~ less than $100. I would think buying an inexpensive machine would be cheaper than buying outfits off e-bay, especially if you have all of your supplies. Good luck!

Walmart has cheap sewing machings go buy one there..
They have a brother for $69.98..

Have you tried taking it to a sewing machine repair place, just to see what it might cost to fix it? I had mine (circa 1985) die, but all it really needed was a tune up. (Cost around $30, IIRC)

Tell us where you are so any local Dis'ers might be able to help.

I too got a relatively inexpensive sewing machine, got mine at Sears.

Maybe try freecycle for a sewing machine?

I think I'm going to get a really cheap one from wall world. I don't need anything fancy for these... just need to make sure its sews! lol

The ones that I googled for were in the hundreds of dollars. It's good to see that I can get one for under a hundred!

Actually, yes, I have. The closest repair shop is a two hour drive away for me in Oklahoma City. We have two wal marts here, too many bbq places, but no camera shops or sewing shops.
