Sew Much Fun...13 of Cinderella's Mice head to WDW! (update 3/10 page 23)

Jumping in here...

Okay...have no cocept of the whole security thing...never been on a plane...but that would be me getting serched...heck I got searched going in the hospital a few weeks ago!

Time alone would be both fun and strange...somtimes I read the reports of people being alone and I think how much fun...but then I also think whoo do you say "Hey Look at that!" to?

I also love you pictures! I'm a real P&S girl because I am lazy!:lmao: I may have to change my mind with this next camera because your pics are great!

So apparently I wasn't subscribed. :headache:

But I am back and caught up!! I adore the light photos. I am just starting to experiment with my camera settings. My dad has been giving me pointers so I hope to capture even better ride pictures without the flash. :thumbsup2

I just found your TR and am having a great time reading it! I went solo for 4 days in Dec 08 (my daughter, bf & baby joined me the last 4 days) and I had fun being alone taking in rides and shows I knew she & her bf wouldn't want to do.

It seems having several hours to just take your time and explore HS would be so relaxing but then if you felt like I did, did it seem like a looonnng time? Esp when you are anxiously awaiting Stacy's arrival? Great pics :thumbsup2

You got searched at a hospital??? Wow you've officially beaten me as America's biggest security risk ;) :rotfl:

I was wondering what happened to you! Does your new camera have a no flash feature?

:welcome: Thank You for reading. It did seem like a long time until Stacy arrived because DHS is just not my favorite park. If I was at MK it probably would have flown by.

Yes it does. I have been experimenting with the manual mode and doing the settings manually. It's a lot of fun.

:welcome: back! Hope you had a great Cinderella bday! Can't wait to see your pics. I have pics of your kiddos. Just need your permission to post more of them (There may be a really cute pic on page 204 post 3056 of our thread that I jumped the gun and posted without your permission...just saying)

Of course you can post them, how else could I steal the photos? :confused3 :rotfl:

I hope so. I was just clicking photos around the house and I was amazed that I accidentally got a picture of the tv screen and it came out crystal clear. I was amazed with my camera. :lmao:

You should be. Some of the rides are particularly tricky (HM and POTC come to mind) because they are REALLY dark and there just isn't enough light to catch a shot. Try to get a seat on the edge so you can perch the camera on the edge of the boat to stabilize it.

I will try that. I figure being solo that if I really want to ride again if my pictures don't come out that I can do that. I thinking being able to take my time with pictures is the thing I am most excited about in my solo trip. :goodvibes

I filled 3 memory cards during our 9 day trip in Sept. I have 477 pics left over after all the ones I deleted from this trip!

You must be a kindered spirit to my DH!! Our last trip, we came home with close to 1500 pictures (not including photopass)....he is totaly in love with the quick burst setting on his camera:lmao: (he is a very good picture taker though)

I on the otherhand, hate having to carry around the big camera so I asked for my own "purse size" one for Christmas....it has more little do-hickeys and whats-that for settings than I expected! So keep letting us know what settings and lenses ect. you use. Your pictures are great and I am getting an education too!!:rotfl:

Oh I wish my DH knew how to use a camera....a P&S is way too much for him to handle :rotfl:

:welcome: Thanks for reading!

Ooh ya, sorry that I forget to address this. These pics were taken with no flash with my 50 MM lens and I set the ISO to 1600. I did the same for all the dark ride pics. Fireworks pics (coming up) were taken with 50 MM lens, no flash, but I lowered the ISO to get the trail of the fireworks. AK pics were taken with my 300mm lens and most of the others with the kit lens that came with the camera.

Thanks for the info!! I'm usually too lazy to fiddle with my camera settings. Plus, I'm always wanting to take a picture really quick while my kids are doing something cute. I'm ashamed to admit that I only carried my big camera with me for one day. Then, I switched to my little camera because I was too lazy to carry the big camera around. Now that I see the pictures, I really wish I would have used my good camera more!

Ya the DSLR is committment! You have to get used to your back killing by mid day from lugging around the camera and all the lenses

I want a 300mm lens!!!!

I don't think I've gotten over 200,000 points but I normally stink at those type things (like Buzz) so I feel like I do so much better on TSM. BUT more on Buzz coming up ;)
I stink on Buzz too. I was teasing my DD before our trip that I was going to beat her on Toy Story Mania. I did beat her in August but she was pretty close to me. I am embarrassed but proud to say that I did beat her on this trip. I just didn't have it in me to let her win. She'll probably beat me on her next trip.

I had a dSLR for the first time on my Jan trip and I was thinking the entire trip I could NEVER have done this when the kids were younger.

So where were we. Oh ya, I was still wandering around DHS. I decided at this point that it would be a good time for lunch. Odd thing about DHS though. Because I don’t care for this park much…we rarely eat here. I’ve eaten at Pizza Planet and Mama Melrose’s only.

So I went with what I knew and went to Pizza Planet. WRONG CHOICE. I got into line. It was long but didn’t look too bad. AGAIN WRONG! I was in back of a group from Argentina…who I truly believe were stealing pizzas. They kept getting trays, passing them to the person in the back of the group and then saying that they didn’t get everything. The CMs were not good about counting everything so they were getting really confused. It ended up taking me 40 minutes to get my lunch. 40 MINUTES! Needless to say, I wolfed down that veggie pizza and diet coke by the time I got it. 40 minutes to get it…30 seconds to eat it!

After that, I walked around again and discovered this:

Wait a minute…I’m a passholder now! So I flashed my AP and went into this

It was so much fun. If you have a chance, definitely check in out. The three singers we had during our competition were amazing…so amazing that I couldn’t pick one. Basically you get to vote for a singer from a control in your seat. The winner goes onto that days’ finals and the winner of the finals’ gets a “golden ticket” to a REAL Idol audition. Luckily the two seats next to me were empty so I voted for all 3 (each on one seat!). Disney outdid themselves with this one. You would SWEAR that you were on the real idol set. Alas no pictures. Because it was a soft opening preview, we weren’t allowed to take any pictures.

After that I wandered around some more taking pictures

I wandered in and out of all the stores when FINALLY my cell phone rang about 5:45pm. It was Stacy…she was finally at DHS. I ran down the street and hugged her like she was my long lost twin. Poor Stacy probably thought I was some kind of nut. You have to understand. I come from a big loud Irish family. You meet my family…you are getting hugged. Probably kissed. Just how we are. So didn’t think twice about hugging Stacy.

We immediately decided to try a ride before dinner. We head over to RnR and ToT. The line was insane for both of them. We decided to go single rider on RnR. While waiting in the line we were in back of a VERY annoying Floridian teenager who spent the entire wait dispensing her vast Disney knowledge to us. And some of it was completely wrong!

However, she was NOTHING compared to the school girls from Argentina. OH MY GOD. First of all, there were literally about a 100 of them in the fastpass line. 2nd of all, they were cheering LOUDLY…with moves. But they were apparently from competing schools because one group would yell one thing and the next would yell something back. This went on for the ENTIRE ride wait. People in between the two groups actually start booing. So now we are in line, with annoying Florida chick in front of us, Argentinian girls SCREAMING cheers, and American tourist booing all at once. It made Aerosmith seem quiet!
Bonus though: Despite being single rider- they let Stacy and I ride together. YAY! Now you must be thinking “Kristine you have been waiting all day for Stacy…you must have IMMEDIATELY photographed her” Um nope…never took a single picture of her that night!

But I did take a picture of her food! After RnR we headed over to Sci-Fi to see if we could be seated early. They ended up seating us ½ hour before our ADR time. (YAY again!). They had changed the menu that was online and as odd as it sounds, Stacy and I had both been looking forward to having burgers. But fear not, this is Disney…they accommodate. We got our burgers. We also got the new “Celebration” themed drink “Magical Star” (I also got a cherry coke…which is included on the DDP in case anyone was wondering)

I didn’t take pics of our burgers because they are burgers. But I did take pics of our desserts. Stacy and I originally both ordered the peanut butter fudge cake…until I heard the waitress at the table next to us describing all the desserts and mentioned that the PB fudge cake had candied nuts on the top. Odd fact about me: I have a nut allergy….EXCEPT for peanuts. Weird right? So I couldn’t get the cake. When I told our waiter…he ran back to the kitchen to find out what was in all the desserts. I didn’t ask him to do it. He just did. LOVE DISNEY CUSTOMER SERVICE! He came back and told me that I could have the new “Celebration” themed dessert. So I did

If you are wondering if that is a piece of cheesecake with caramel drizzle, with popcorn and M&Ms, and a white chocolate picture of a castle stuck in top…you’d be right. It was a little slice of heaven.

Here is Stacy’s cake (sorry pic is blurry)

There was a rather nice waiter (not ours) who admired my camera and gave me some picture suggestions. He would yell from other tables when Walt was going to pop up on the screen. Thank you mystery waiter.

We walked out of Sci-Fi (did I mention that this was my FIRST time at Sci-Fi…another first) and walked onto the streets of America and saw this:

We got a little nervous. I felt like we had walked into Kingdom Keepers and had been locked in the park after dark. We walked down to TSM (one last shot right). They were closing up the ride when we got there. I did get some nice nighttime shots as we walked out

After that, we headed back to Pop. It was cold. VERY COLD. You could see your breath. And yet, there were kids in the pools. Nothing like pneumonia on vacation  Stacy was really nervous heading upstairs because of her missed flight…she didn’t know if her luggage would arrive right. But no fears, it did. We unpacked and traded presents and headed off to bed. I slept (I had been up since 7am on Thursday and this was 10pm Friday. I was tired). Stacy stayed up doing something. All I know if that I kept waking up and she was still awake.

So do you think that we made it to my FIRST EVER rope drop in the morning????

That's all for tonight folks...I was supposed to be studying for trial tomorrow and needed a study break! Now I have to get back to studying!!!
