EEK! :scared1:

This Is A Particularly Dangerous Situation...

Destructive Tornadoes... Large Hail To 4 Inches In Diameter... Thunderstorm Wind Gusts To 90 Mph... And Dangerous Lightning Are Possible In These Areas.

Discussion... Rapid Development Of Supercell Thunderstorms Will Occur Early This Afternoon Ahead Of A Particularly Intense Upper Trough And Jet Stream Moving Into Central U.S. In Addition To Very Large Hail... There Is The Potential For Damaging Long Track Tornadoes Later This Afternoon And Evening. Storms Will Initiate Vicinity Of Dry Line Ern KS And Additionally Vicinity Warm Front Extending Ewd Across MO Into IL.

Gee, that doesn't sound bad does it? I (of course) am home today by myself with the kids until around 5 PM and I am supposed to be studying for a test I have tomorrow. I hate bad weather and this watch has me very nervous. :worried:

Good luck, hope it doesn't get too bad.

We've had heavy rain, thunder, lightning and high winds, flood warnings all night. Still pouring out there. (I'm in Kentucky)

I love thunderstorms. I wonder if it will Chicago. Lets hope for no tornados but a thunderstorm would be fun!

I think in this area at this time of he year we can' halp but think of tornadoes with rain. Good luck to you becca! We have a tornadic storm heading our way! And it's sunny out. Not good. :sad2:

OK, so how many of us just put our fingers into a circle to estimate how big a 4" piece of hail would be? Man, that's huge!

Stay safe, and after it's all over take a picture of the hail if you get it!

I had to check what city that forecast was for... it's pretty typical for spring in N. Texas, too! Stay safe!

I am not sure what part of missouri you are from, but i am in southern illinois. We are just a few countys away from were the path of the storms went through last night about 10pm. I am so glad it was not us but very sorry it did all that damage to other people. From what i understand there was a very large vilant tornado that touched down & did a lot of damage & injurys. I heard a report of softball size hail near were it touched down at. I believe we are expected to get even more dangerous storms this afternoon into the night.

I saw that on the national weather service site, we are getting a big snowstorm today, big snowflakes falling now and the wind is supposed to pick up and blow hard. Hopefully all is well!

:rotfl2: I don't think so.....I moved here from Missouri in April and your "storms" are nothing like what the Mid-West experiences. In fact you guys hardly get any "real storms", just some rain, lightening & thunder.

(Thank goodness....:thumbsup2 )

DS is in Missouri and he was put on active alert last night due to the weather situation. I haven't talked to him to know how things are going.

Spring is always a tough time here in the Midwest. As Kitty always says, hunker down.

We have two tornados headed right for us. We are piling a mattress and blankets in the hallway. The odds are not great that we will get a direct tornado hit on our house but the situation here in Columbia is very dangerous.

Please pray for us..... :scared:

DH saw a funnel cloud and we got some 2-3" inch hail but thankfully the storms appear to have passed over us at least for now. It could still be a bumpy evening with storms but at least that is over. There is nothing quite like hiding in your hallway with pillows/blankets and a mattress pulled over you and trying to keep two young kids from escaping.

I sure don't miss those tornado warnings. Yes, Florida has them occasionally, but they don't last long and are not that strong.

I've been watching the weather in Missouri all afternoon. They had damage in the Kansas City area. Baseball size hail hit Liberty. That isn't very far from where I used to live. I can't help but think of my old neighbors.

Let's hope things calm down soon!
