Several Newbie Questions about Booking, Payment

We've been on one cruise, so we're Silver Castaway Club members. We're looking at doing a family cruise next summer, so I've got some questions to try and get squared away. Hopefully I can keep these clear.

  1. Since I'm silver and can book one day before general public, can I book staterooms for the rest of our party that they can link to their own account to pay off the balance? And they could reimburse me for the deposit? We're going to be looking at 4 staterooms - 1 for us, 1 for each of my BILs and their SOs, and then 1 for my in-laws that all the kids will split as a gift. I'd like the BILs to be able to manage their own reservation after it's booked.
  2. I was thinking of having a travel agent try to book on opening day. Would they be able to use my silver status to book all of the rooms?
  3. We put down a placeholder on our last cruise. Do I need to call Disney to book myself because of that?
  4. Are there any travel agents where you can you pay with Disney gift cards?

3. Placeholders can only be converted to a specific cruise by calling.
4. Travel agents will take any form of payment. Actually, you are NOT paying the TA, the TA is being an agent for DCL. DCL accepts gift cards for payment.

Thanks! I thought maybe I read that about placeholders.

For our first cruise, it was a 3 night one as a gift so we just booked it for full price through Disney. I hadn't explored any options like TAs for OBC or using gift cards I earn to pay at that point! So I wasn't sure if all TAs took them, but if they're just funneling it along, that makes sense.

A silver guest has to be in the cabin in order to reserve on the silver booking day. I asked my TA if I could reserve for my brother who is silver on my platinum booking day and the answer was no. It is probably a good thing in reality or the Platinum guests would all have new "friends" they're making reservations for! :)

Haha an excellent point!

If you had named a TA when you booked the placeholder, or transferred to one within 30 days of booking the placeholder, then the TA would need to be the one on hold with DCL when you booked an actual cruise.

Good to know! I have a feeling we would book another cruise or placeholder.... :)
With how many people are you? If you are with 4 silver members, have one in each room and you can reserve them
ETA or in this case, if there are 2 platinum, put one in each room
Me and DH are silver. Other than MIL (not with Disney), no one else has cruised before.
