A FEW TIPS
Don't be afraid to take an adults-only trip to Disney World! There are plenty of good restaurants for romantic dinners to celebrate a special occasion, such as Artist Point. Another great romantic thing to do is the Electrical Water Pageant -- just take the bug spray! Using Disney transportation worked well for us -- it was a nice break from having to drive. We also had a blast meeting the characters. Most of them kissed my hand with great chivalry when I approached them for a picture.
The Disney Dining Plan is great! We spent very little on food OOP and we had plenty to eat. In fact, we had trouble using up our snack credits. We had no problems sharing either in order to stretch our credits.
PhotoPass was nice because it made it easy for us to get pictures of the two of us together -- most of the photographers actually offered to take pictures on our camera as well as theirs. On a short trip though, we only had 37 pictures on our card, so we didn't buy the CD, but I will order some 5X7's online ($12.95 each).
Don't be afraid to split up occasionally. We found this was a good way for both of us to stay happy. Steve rode some of the more motion-sickness inducing rides alone while I shopped, and I watched the parade alone when he needed a break from the sun.
Traveling during August -- we have to travel in the summer since Steve is a teacher, unless we want a very short trip. We still had a great trip, mainly by being at the parks when they opened and by using Fastpass. We didn't find the pool to be much of a break due to the kids and the heat, but we found it helpful to get away from the parks to shower, change clothes, or have a meal in an airconditioned resort restaurant.
SOUVENIRS
We got some cute souvenirs for our two goddaughters and my godson: Princess in Training and Pirate in Training:
We started a tradition on our honeymoon of buying a Christmas ornament on every trip we take -- that way, we remember our trips every year when we put up our tree. On this trip I bought a Wilderness Lodge ornament, as well as a Lenox-style 2006 ornament that is similar in style to ones I bought on our previous trips. I am also collecting various characters -- this time I added Jasmine and Aladdin, Stitch, and a cute Mickey and Minnie ornament:
Here are some cute picture frames I bought. The one on the left was $5 for spending $40 at the Mercantile at the WL:
And here is the t-shirt I bought myself. I was pleased to see they had some ladies' t-shirts, which are cut with more shape and are more flattering than unisex shirts. I also discovered that some of the souvenir shops have fitting rooms!
well that's all I have for now. Thanks to anyone who has gotten this far! I know how much I have enjoyed others' reports when I needed a Disney fix between trips.
It will probably be awhile for us before taking another one, so writing this report was a nice way for me to relive it and make sure I don't forget about it. 340 pictures don't hurt, either. LOL
