Seven weeks before Easter and wouldn't you think you could get a fresh

marshmallow peep!?! Am I expecting too much!?!

I went to the store tonight just to pick up a few items. I walked down the candy aisle and right away I spotted them. YELLOW MARSHMALLOW PEEPS!!!! I was beside myself with glee. I LOVE these little chickies! I couldn't believe they were out so soon. I grabbed two packs, (ten little peeps), and bought them. As soon as I got home I tore into a package, ripped one from the bunch, and took a bite. IT WAS STALE!!!!!

I opened the other package, freed a peep, bit it, and IT WAS ALSO STALE!!!! What!?! I was certain they would be fresh. I mean, seven weeks before Easter, the peeps couldn't have been on the shelves very long, so how could they already be stale!?!

Do you suppose the peeps were left over from LAST Easter? There was no expiration date on the package. I'm miffed! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I almost threw one across the room, but I was afraid it would put a dent in the wall.

Any ideas on what to do with ten stale peeps, two with bites out of them? Paperweights? Bookends? Anyone? Anyone?

I wouldn't keep Peeps for an entire year, I'm sure they would get stale.

I would take them back to the store to get a refund.

I think I remember hearing on the radio last year peeps have a 3yr shelf life. So if was stale I wonder how old it is??? One word.....YUCK!

They are good microwaved, but I can't remember the timing- exactly 11 seconds, or 9? It can't be more because they would explode.

I do the same thing, open them as soon as i get them and let them sit for a few days! I cant eat them fresh! I have to haved them stale.

I really only like them when they are stale. I buy them in bulk on sale after Easter and age them - like fine wine.

haha! My daughters just followed your advice! The chicks kind of fell over then got really big. When we opened the microwave the chicks deflated!
