"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

I finally got around to reading the posts on this thread from before I joined it.

Cohartman- I saw you are flying in to Barcelona from London on the 7th? What airline are you going to be on and what time? Just wondering if we will be on the same flight.

MJGirl-I pretty much gave up reading the EB repo cruise meets. I will stick with the summaries. I can't believe it's now well over 2,000 pages with some disers having over 2,000 posts on the thread alone!! Every time I get caught up and go do something else, they add another couple of hundred posts!I think some of the members have been on their computers through out each day and night since they booked! I can only imagine what it will be up to by the time we cruise in 8/2008!!!
I got nervous when I saw that there really weren't too many flights from LHR to BCN before the evening.

I booked British Air #484 on July 7th, it leaves LHR at 9:25am.

Any suggestions or recommendations for hotels in London? I would hate to be disappointed, especially since they seem so expensive.

I can't help you out as my hotel is pre-booked with Adventures by Disney. We'll be staying at the Renaissance Chancery Court. I checked it out on the web, and it is beautiful, but a bit on the pricy side. You can check it out at tripadvisor.com! Good luck!

That is the exact flight that we have booked. Of course, last night my MIL informed DH a travel agent they use at her work could get us tickets for $800 a piece round trip from Dulles through United since they had purchased a block of them. She's considering it. We would lose a thousand dollars, but still come out a good thousand plus ahead of what we paid. I don't know if we'll switch though because they seem to have more stops (Boston and Germany and then through Switzerland on return) and worse times.

I wouldn't take a flight that gets there after 6 PM either. DH said the DCL agent said the port officially closes at 4PM but would let you embark until 8PM on Disney. I wouldn't want to chance any delays. At least we won't need to worry about snow that time of year!

I can't help you out with hotels. I was last in London in 1991. My brother flies there several times a year for work (Microsoft) but they put him up in a 5 Star hotel with a butler and I'm sure they pay an insane amount.

I agree for a while there I was keeping up, even participating, but I can't maintain their pace. There has been so much planning for that trip already, it's unbelievable. I have been reading the summaries and popping up every once in a while to say Hi! It should be fun though, but I don't want it to overshadow the Med. I think I'll get more active when I get back. My daughter should really enjoy the Repo, as we set sail on her birthday. She'll turn 18, so she can do the adult tours and enjoy the adult pool and restaurant. I have been readin

I can't maintain the pace either. I thought it may die down a bit but seems to keep up. Every time I get an email notification and then decide I may respond, there are so many pages past what was written! I will most likely follow it more closesly the closer we get to that cruise. I want to concentrate on this one first. I think I've only joined the 12/1/07 cruise threads and not posted there yet too. My dad's birthday is also August 17th!
She will love Palo (at least we did!). We haven't made it to the Quiet Cove pool since our first DCL trip, but I'm looking forward to getting there this time. The teak chairs looked so nice in December. We were only on a 3 day and it went by so fast we didn't do a whole lot other than eat, go to the shows, the Pirate Museum in Nassau (we did the dolphins on a 4 day DCL trip) and CC. Our oldest DS never even went to the kids club and he loved it in May. I'm sure they'll find lots to do on our 3 days at sea on the Med cruise.

I'm already getting requests from friends/family for purchasing items in Europe. I have been worried about fitting our clothes in 2 bags each and people want souvenirs!! I guess I will have to cut back who I tell about the trip! I generally would be more than happy to get people what they want...

I know what you mean ... I'm considering fed-exing some souvenirs home before and after the cruise to save on luggage weight allowance. I wonder if DCL will fed-ex the souvenirs home for me? That may be a question for the cruise board.

Ditto!!! Welcome Ruth!!

Thank you. Afraid i'm a bit of a interloper as not sailing til the 28th of July( 11 night med) but picked up lots of good tips here so thought i'd subscribe. hope thats ok!:goodvibes

For those of you spending some time in Barcelona before the cruise, here is a thread to check out that has some photos!

Cruise is getting closer ...!!! Has anyone got their Cruise Info Package yet???

Hi; We got a package a ew weeks back. It provides a quick summary of the trip.

Anyone coming from the West Coast? San Francsico?

Hi; I have been away too long from these boards... Are you from the East Bay... you mentioned Walnut Creek :)

We will be flying from SFO to BCN via ATL using Delta. It leave SFO at 6AM or 8AM to catch the connecting to BCN. I would suspect there is a connection London from ATL.

We will be spending a two full days in Barcelona before the cruise. Planning to relax on the ship after boarding. Thanks for some of the information.

We hava an apartment/suite across sagrada-familia.

Has anyone done the math to figure out when we can call and reserve the excursions through Disney? I am a Castaway Club member and can book 90 days out which according to my calculations is Easter Sunday!! Do you think the phones will be manned then???? If anyone has looked into this and can validate/dispute my calculation please let me know. I like to call as soon as they open to ensure that I get my first choices. Last time some of the excursions were booked 5 minutes after the day started (I called right at 9 and was lucky but other's weren't).

I am getting excited and am really in a planning frenzy. They are teasing me at work saying that I am already packed -- not quite yet!!!:lmao: :rotfl2:

Do they have Sunday hours now? I do not remember the last having to call them. Online booking should be open...

Hi everyone - I've been visiting the cruise critic med. boards, since those folks have been cruising and touring the med. area for years - to try to pick up some info on hiring private drivers/tours while in Naples ( Pompeii / Amalfi coast) Florence and Rome - they have quite a wealth of information and recommendations.

We are a family of 4 - DH, DS 18 & DS 12 and myself from NJ, and would be interested in sharing the ride and the cost of a private and more personal tour with 4 other fellow cruisers at these locations. I think this will be a more informative and personal way to see Italy, than on a DCL bus packed with people.

Is anyone interested in touring with us, or would like more info? Please reply here, or email me at shercara@aol.com.

Thanks!
Sherri

Yes, we are from Walnut Creek! You? Our daughter is 10 yrs old. We are going to London first, getting into BCN early on the 7th. Staying in BCN after the cruise for 2 days.

Our 90 day Castaway Club date to book excursions is also listed as 8 April 2007 (Easter) on our DCL paperwork. I have been trying to find out if I can also book my MIL's excursions that day since she will have our ds9 in her room (he's a cc member) or if we can even book his excursions with us. Our Dreams Unlimited travel agent can't get a straight answer from DCL and told us to just try on 4/8/07 to book them. One agent said we can book them, another said DS is not an adult and therefore not entitled to CC benefits ?! I'm sure we will be able to book online and via phones. I know WDW is open Easter Sunday, as we went 3 years ago and it was packed.

Wow -- that doesn't seem fair that they wouldn't allow you to book the entire family even with one non-CC member -- kind of defeats the "family friendly" aspect! I figure they probably would be open on Easter Sunday. I haven't received any information yet so I wasn't sure of my date calculation. I guess I will be up bright and early (I had intended on going to the early mass but will have to go later!:rolleyes1 ) in order to ensure I get them. I will also ask my TA and let you know what she says.
