Under Disney Vacation Club's Home Resort priority system, members can book a reservation at their Home resort 11 months in advance of their arrival date.
However, reservations at other resorts can only be secured 7 months in advance of the arrival date.
What are your experiences booking non-Home resorts at 7 months?

Hi: It really depends on the time and the resort. The smaller resorts like BCV and VWL can be difficult to get during certain time frames- Food & Wine Festival/Christmas. Also, certain room types and booking categories like standard view or boardwalk view may be hard to get at the 7 month mark. Grand villas at BWV can be tough too. You really should buy where you love to stay and try to book your home resort as far out as your planning allows. Good luck with your decisions.

We own at OKW and have only stayed there once. We usually vacation in Sept. and usually stay in a studio or a 1 bedroom and have been able to stay at BCV, VWL and this Sept. BLT and BWV. We love Sept. in Disney!!!!

This year we planned very late and even though we own at BCV we couldn't get a 2 bd for July 30-Aug 8 so we are at the BWV and waitlisted for BCV. However since we have been on the waitlist for months now I don't believe it will happen. I have learned that the only way to get what you truly want is to book at 11 months.

We own at SSR and have stayed their once and that was because we decided four months out that we would go during President's week. Not that we don't like SSR, we do. I just want to try all the resorts. BTW we are staying at OKW again for our December trip.

We own at SSR, but often stay at other DVC resorts.
We've never had any problem getting studios at the following at 7 months:

1) AKV for Xmas week 2007 (Dec. 20-26)
2) BCV in late July (2007, 2008, 2009)
3) AKV in late July (2008, 2009)

When you change a reservation at 7 months, how does that work. For example we have a 1 bedroom reserved at SSR. We would like to try for AKV. When I call on on the day that the 7th month mark is, and they have that available, do I have to cancel my whole reservation at SSR to reserve at AKV for that night and then hope that each day I call for the next six nights will be available at AKV? Does anyone even understand what I am trying to ask?LOL

Just called at the 7 month month to change our OKW reservation in December ...booked 7 nights at BWV and 4 nights at BLT ..no problem getting availability.

tyandbash--when changing a reservation at 7 months, call at the 7 month mark of your arrival date .. you may book 7 days at that time ...if you are successful booking at another resort, cancel the 7 days at your home resort. If you are staying longer than 7 days you must call day-by-day for the 8+ days you are planning to stay ...that's the tricky part ...just don't let go of your home reservation for those nights until they have been confirmed!

Our experience has been about 75% getting what we want at the 7 month window. Our usual practice is to book at our home resort at 11 months and then call at 7 months to switch, or go on the wait list.

We usually travel during the off times so that may help.

THANK YOU!! I thought I had to book day to day for anything. We are planning to go 7 days so that is perfect!
