Hello All - apologies for jumping into your thread - but I've read about 20 pages and couldn't find what I was looking for. I am taking my hubby and two teens to AKL end of June for a week. We have standard concierge level. I was wondering if there was a particular request that I should make (other then needing bunk beds for my boy/girl teens) to be able to 1. see the giraffes and 2. not be too far from the elevator/club lounge.

So excited to be going - I've wanted to stay at the AKL since it opened and FINALLY was able to do it for my dd's Sweet 16!!!

Please feel free to also share any of your favorite ideas, tips or suggestions

At least thru the misspelling you figured out what I was trying to say. Half the time my phone auto corrects to the wrong thing, then some times it will not correct at all...

I hate when my phone does that!!!! Some of the words it "thinks" I meant are bizarre! And I knew exactly what you meant.

What changes are you wondering about? My first visit was less than 2 years ago so I'm not sure how it would have changed. Any specifics you want to know are the same? That might be easier to pinpoint.

We stayed Club Level in December. There were some changes in the lounge (don't remember when that happened). The children's section is now behind the CMs desks. They now have a pod coffee machine.

We had great service in the lounge. The food was good and plentiful.

It's 9 months till our next trip to AKL and we're trying to decide whether to stick with our standard of AKL-Kidani or try to get rooms in Jambo House.

We stayed in Jambo pre-DVC, just regular savanna view and concierge/club level back around 2003-2005, then skipped around for a while after joining DVC in 2004. Our stays from then have been OKW, Saratoga, VWL, AKL-Kidani in random order, mostly sticking with Saratoga or Kidani.

The kids (13,11, 9 at our next trip) have decided they only want to stay at AKL these days, but they want me to ask if there are any reasons for picking Jambo over Kidani. We'll be doing 15 nights next trip, so we might decide to split it up into a couple different bits and try both.

Any suggestions from the pros? We've done 14 days at Jambo and 22 days at Kidani in the past few years, but have never stayed as DVC at Jambo. Are the rooms significantly smaller? Do you think we might be able to swing value rooms at the 7 month mark?

I can't help too much except that I'll always choose Jambo House over Kidani only because I'm in love with the place. The DVC deluxe studio is definitely bigger than the regular hotel room, but I have no idea about the one bedrooms and up. I like the pool better at Jambo House because of all the lush greenery, but Kidani has that cool kids area. I also love Jambo House's lobby, I think it is gorgeous. I think there's an equal amount of kids activities at each place. Kidani actually has some animals that Jambo House doesn't so that's a plus.

Ann - I am jealous that you are close enough to go to Napa. We have been to Paso Robles and the Central Coast area but did not have enough time to get up to Sonoma/Napa. It is on our bucket list and I would love to take both our daughters for a Ladies' Trip.

It is so beautiful there. If you can arrange a visit in October, that is our favorite time to visit. They are harvesting and there is this wonderful aroma of grapes being pressed in the air. We have a trip planned there in a couple of weeks. It isn't harvest season...but Napa is good just about anytime.

We haven't been in a three years. Any suggestions from all the wine lovers out there????

It is actually better still. Our vacation starts in 10 days, but my ticker is for the cruise. We are staying with friends in Seal Beach, California for 3 nights first.

Not only is tomorrow the day I can do the single digit dance, but my 7 months window for our WDW vacation opens, too. I am hoping to move the 4 four nights to Beach Club Villas.

They had changed the lounge set-up before our last visit in October of 2010. I like the new layout, it makes it less noisy from the TV and childrens shows. Plus the area over by the food presentation has more space now. I am glad to hear the food was good and plentiful. I always wonder before a visit as Disney is continually making changes. Do they ever have chocolate covered strawberries on the evening dessert offerings? I am lusting after some ever since reading Alison's TR from her club level visit a The Grand Californian at DL.

You both are to sweet and oh so mistaken! I use to be able to quote entire conversations. When DH and I were first married he didn't like to have a "discussion" with me as I could quote exactly what he said, what I said and what anyone around had said. I could do that for years after the conversation or discussion. Yes, tennis shoes are not bad... I was at meeting all day today at the pentagon, and cell phone reception is awful,but I kinda felt awkward in my tennis shoes when everyone else has dress shoes on... But i got over it...
