Good morning Js & Ks!

BEAUTIFUL table Kimmar! :goodvibes Must be nice to have a husband who can build/fix things. :rolleyes1

Brandi, please add me to "the list" - August 26-September 1, Dolphin. :cloud9: Thanks!

I'm still hoping to sneak in a quick weekend trip in May........ I haven't missed the Flower & Garden Festival in years....... but it's not looking good at this point. :sad1:

Hi, and Thanks!
There are 6 of us...4 adults and 2 kids in a 2 Br Savannah View at Kidani. My parents' DVC home resort is SSR and this is our first time to AKV. We plan on doing the parks and food and wine...have been to WDW ~every year since 2005...but with kids, so definitely paks:rotfl:
Just curious how much of a process it is to get to the main building fro breakfast if we don't want to cook. We don't have a car, just use Disney transportation and buy what is in the hotel store. Didn't realize there was no QS restaurant in this part of the resort! I saw a Mug station in one of the pics...is there coffee there as well???? That's is very important!:lmao: TIA!

I think there is coffee at the gift store at Kidani. Jambo is only a short walk from Kidani. If you are used to SSR, the QS is no farther from Kidani as perhaps walking from the farthest building at that resort to get to Artist Palette. The funniest comparison I've heard is that the looooooong walk people complain about between Kidani and Jambo is equivalent to the "convenient" wall from BLT to MK. If nothing else you can take a bus and some have said there is van/golf cart service between the two as well.

We are making our first DVC vacation in Dec (can you add us to the list please!). Dec 15-27! Staying at Kidani in a Savannah studio. This is actually only our 2nd WDW trip ever (yeh I bought in during our 1st trip in Feb hehe). It will be me and my then 4 yo son (turns 4 in Oct) and Nana.

So excited but had some questions about the safari meal options. I had read on here about there being a breakfast and dinner option but dinner is only if you are CL, right? Can anyone do the breakfast?

Also someone on another thread mentioned a lunch I believe with one of the (I know I will totally botch the name of these guys but I hope you can figure it out) animal wranglers????

We are looking at getting the Deluxe DP can these be used for these meals?

Where is Santa located :santa: ? Will he be in any resorts or in parks?

I can't believe I have to wait until December

Congratulations on your stay and I have added you to the list.

I know that you cannot use the DP for the meals if you elect to do the Sunrise or sunset Safari options.

There is a description of both on the first page provided by the OP.

Thank you, that was where I saw those safari meals. I had only heard of a lunch (I think it was) with the animal guy before seeing that. Good to know on the DP we can't use em for that, well not good but good to know beforehand haha.

May I ask for a bit of information and advice?
I'm staying at AKL for one night in May. I will be checking in around noon. I am currently booked in a standard room. I am hoping (but realize it may not happen) to get into a room in the early afternoon. Would it help to do online check in?
I didn't know if another room selection (like pool or savanna) would make it more or less likely to get settled. Or it may not matter at all.
I am signed up for the Wanyama Safari that day, and would love it if it was possible to be settled a bit early.
Thanks for your help! :flower3:

...are you doing CL?

Are you doing the Hawaii Cruise? I figured from the length that you were doing the Panama Canal again, but you wouldn't fly to LA for that.

Where will you reserve at DL? I know last trip you were happy you didn't make a Napa Rose reservation, but I seem to remember you liked Steakhouse 55.

Yes, we are doing the Inaugural Hawaii Cruise on the Disney Wonder. Going to Hawaii has been one of my dreams for many years, but it is just so far from the UK. This way I get a 15 night cruise and a taster of Hawaii.

We will be staying at VGC again. We loved it there last year. I am hoping for both dinner and breakfast at Steakhouse 55 this time. We loved our dinner there. I wish you could make dinner reservations online for Disneyland, too. The time difference is making this a difficult proposition.

Corinna

Yeah to all the trips that are planned.

Trying to figure out how to convince hubby to go Tokoyo Disney this year. I need a Disney fix :rotfl: I think that will be the only way to get one:laughing:

...are you doing CL?

Hi kimmar067,
Thanks for your reply. This thread has tons of information, thank you! :cool1:
No, I'm not CL. They changed the requirements I'm not sure how long ago. For the Wanyama you can be either, just staying at AKL. You still have to call the AKL IPO to book it, though.
The new info is here, and link:

"Wanyama Safari and Dinner is exclusively for Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. The Wanyama Safari and Dinner is offered in the afternoon seven days a week, subject to availability."

I wish they would do it for the sunrise one as well... $190 is too spendy for us since we paid that last year to do the Trek; I'd rather do the sunrise one that is much more reasonably priced! :flower3:

Ok we can't do that one because my son is 3....can he do the others? I was also wondering if you can't book earlier than the 180 days for these things like ADRs?

They are 2 totally different experiences. The Sunrise is at AK park -- it's the Kilimanjaro Safari ride, but much more in-depth and lots of stops for photo ops. The breakfast is served in a private room in Pizzafari. This can only be reserved if you are staying Club Level (and it almost always fills to capacity).

The Wanyama (Sunset) Safari is on the savannahs of AKL and is truly a unique experience. There is a group dinner at Jiko after the safari. Yes, it's a steep price, but I am so glad we did it. This is open to all AKL/AKV guests.

Wanyama is a small group - I believe 12 maximum and the minimum age is 8 or 9. Sunrise is considerably more people and no age limit.

Good Morning Everyone...

I brought my coughing, sneezing, water eyed, self into work today....

As long as I drink hot tea I am ok, my throat does not hurt, but then I spend half the day in the bathroom!

Oh No! I hope you feel better soon - you have had quite a week!

....no vacay to report, but my DH made me a new table:

Beautiful table!

...even though he doesn't like to go on vacay...

I feel your pain...:headache:

Can't help you with Safari info - but you will love December with all the Christmas decorations! Make sure to visit all the "Santas" in Epcot! :thumbsup2

That sounds wonderful! :cloud9:
