So this is way OT for AKL, but you're all so nice here, it just never seems to stop. We knew last week that Fran needed another surgery, this time they will remove ALL the infected tissue and basically start over with only good tissue. They took a sample of a wound culture for preparation last week. Well at her dressing change yesterday, all the nurses are wearing these funny yellow gowns. I asked the first one "why?", and she told us the doctor would discuss that with us.

Turns out her culture came back with a "light case of MRSA", isn't that like being a little pregnant? Now she has to see an infectious disease doctor next week. Is this ever going to end? On so many other fronts we have a ton of great stuff going, but none of it really matters if you don't have your health!

I wish you could! Our PCP says that unless the culture was taken from deep in the wound in a surgical environment, it doesn't mean anything, but still the thought is scary. She has to have surgery late in the day due to this infection, and there are additional precautions from the hospital standpoint. I really hope this can be solved once and for all!

You guys just can't catch a break. I really hope it isn't MRSA but that would explain why it hasn't been responding to the antibiotics. Please let us know what they find out.

I am so sorry that you two have to go through this. I hope that they finally will be able to get this sorted and that she will make a speedy recovery.

Oh no!! Prayers that things work out quickly!

I guess they finish up all the "healthy" patients and then hose down the place once she's finished? :confused3

Alison - I am so sorry to hear this. You guys just can't seem to take more than a couple of steps forward can you?

Good Morning everyone!

Elin how far are you from Locust Grove? I will be there this weekend...

good morning everyone! :sunny:

It is raining here in Oregon still - spring just can NOT let summer take over! :headache: We aren't having nearly as bad a time as the south though - I hope debbie runs her course very soon!

Hopefully someone can help me with my fretting... we have rented a car in the past and enjoyed it but I am not sure it will be worth it this time. I've heard mixed reviews on the AKL busses and since we are not going during a very busy time I am guessing they will be shared between Kidani and Jambo (Oct 28-Nov 3rd). We have a lot of reservations for dinners at resorts as well, including Victoria and Alberts and Hoop de Doo, and it seems like those would both be hard to get to on the public transportation options. We also have two early morning breakfasts (8am) one at MK and another at Kona. I know we can park for free at the parks, and I'll be doing the math on whether or not to upgrade my pass and get TiW as well today, so we might have free valet as well.

I just can't decide if we should rent one or not. Its another expense on top of an already expensive trip, but it seems like there are some times it would come very much in handy... :confused3

It's been raining a lot in BC too! But sunny today :cheer2:

We always use WDW transportation. They have early resort bus pick ups for breakfast.. To get to GF or Poly is very easy, just go to MK and hop on the resort monorail or resort boat. It's also easy getting to FW. Again take the bus to MK, then there is a FW resort boat to get you there.

We do plan our dining according to what park we'll be in that day, makes life a lot easier, and never felt the need to rent a car

You should allow an hour using WDW transportation.

I was finally released from my jury duty today. In the end I was sitting as a juror for 3 weeks and 1 day. It was very interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I am now ready to go back to work and into my normal routine.

Alison - good thoughts coming yours and Fran's way that they get this taken care of once and for all!

I also just had to share with everyone the fabulous new accessory I now have....;)

Lovely isn't it? :rotfl: It's my punishment for not staying off my ankle that I sprained in the beginning of May. Hoping I only have to wear it for a month, but it may be two. I've already learned I can't drive in it or take stairs, so I keep taking it off to do both. Thankfully, I don't have to do a ton of either. And it's better than the hard cast the doc threatened to put me in!

good luck with that... I had one for 15 weeks!
Not fun, but I got good at stairs and could drive with mine. I could walk pretty fast which surprised a lot of people on the two different cruises I was on...

Make sure you wear a sock or get some "new Skin" to put on your upper lug where it rubs the skin, I got a blister and did not really notice until it got bad!
