Seven Dwarfs Mine Train okay for those who usually skip roller coasters?

Sorry if this was asked before; I couldn't find anything using the search function. Anyway, my mom and I aren't exactly roller coaster people but are still interested in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train since we are fans of the movie that inspired it and of course Snow White's [Scary] Adventures is long gone. How rough is the ride? How high on the "thrill scale" (again, keeping mind that in our case the higher the "thrill factor" the less interested we are in a ride)? Should we just admire it from afar and hope to maybe catch Snow White wherever she meets guests/the Dwarfs during MNSSHP?

I'm exactly like you! Used to ride some of the 'tamer' coasters, but with neck issues can no longer ride them. We rode 7DMT twice last visit and loved it. As others have said, cannot believe how smooth it is, but to me, even though it's not a thrill ride, satisfies me completely as a coaster!

I will suggest (as was suggested to me) to ride in the front as much as possible - the end is not as smooth. Enjoy!

It is tame even compared to most kiddie coasters. At least as far as how much you get whipped around goes.

What about people with pretty severe motion sickness?

I actually get more motion sick on 7DMT than I typically do on Barnstormer or BTMRR. The drop is a bit much for me but not terrible, the rest of the ride is fine except the very end when it comes to a stop rather quickly. Once it stops I feel pretty queasy but it doesn't last long as the ride is over at this point. But for the record I take a Bonine every day in Disney so I can do any of these rides and still felt some nausea.

That said, I still went on it at least 8 or 9 times on our last Disney trip. So while it bugged my stomach it wasn't enough to deter me from riding and enjoying it.

It is smooth, but it is still a roller coaster.

My mom went on it and she is in her 60s and I have never seen her go on any type of roller coaster or thrill ride in her life! She went on because my DD begged her too. She was fine, but she wouldn't go on it again...

Like others have said, it is a kiddie/family coaster. It's not even close to the intensity of rides like BTMRR or Space Mountain. Very smooth, and a notch below the Barnstormer in intensity. We got our 70yo parents to ride 7DMT on last trip, and they haven't ridden a roller coaster in 20+ years, they both enjoyed it.

The 7DMT is no more "thrilling" then a drive on a hilly road. If you can do that you can do 7DMT.

I love roller coasters, so this feedback is from my best friend. She went on because her 7 year old begged her to go. She said she cried a little, hated it and they didn't make her go on any other 'questionable' rides after that. She thought she's be ok based on the comments she saw on the DISBoard.

And, she bagged on Soarin after the experience on SDMT - was afraid to do anything. But then she regretted the Soarin choice as she walked through to leave before it started. So if you do it and don't enjoy it, don't let it sour the rest of your trip!

I don't like thrill rides (even mild thrill rides) and I get a little motion sick. I was fine on 7DMT and prefer it over Thunder Mtn (which I got a little motion sick on). As a comparison, if you've ever been on the Cars ride in DL, I got a bit motion sick on that too. 7DMT I was fine and it's also short.

It's fast .. but not like most thrill rides .. no tight turns .. no huge stomach turning drops ... nothing to really throw you out of whack. It is really smooth.

My three year old was tall enough (barely) to go on it and enjoyed it.

I too found the Barnstormer a much "rougher" coaster (especially for a little one).

I'm probably more of a pansy than all these nice folks, but this was totally not my experience of 7DMT. It was absolutely less scary than "adult" coasters, but I got pretty sick and discombobulated, and had to take a few laps on dark rides before I perked back up. I definitely wouldn't ride it again.

That said, definitely don't let a bad experience of 7DMT deter you from Soarin'--I almost did, I was super nervous, and I'm so glad I didn't! It was a highlight of the trop.
