My friend has a Dr's note that she needs her dog by her side for her anxiety. Can she bring her dog into the parks and PPH?

I looked into the FAQ and foudn the folowing information :

What items are not permitted within Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park?
A.

Items not permitted include, but are not limited to, the following:

Pets (Service Animals are permitted and must be wearing an identifying assistive-companion vest; pets may be kept at the on-site kennel—separate fees apply; space is limited)

Also regarding service animals :

While I know others who need their animals for anxiety reasons , I cannot say for sure if Disneyland views that as an actual service animal unless meeting the guidelines above. I think it may be best t contact PPH directly however.

Hopefully someone else can chime in too.

According to the DOJ, this would not be covered. Just because her doctor says she needs her dog does not mean her dog is a service dog.

"Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA."

That said, as far as service dogs, Disneyland and resort hotels comply with the laws. We travel with service dogs. We carry the dogs vaccine records and insurance paperwork. We have never had a problem.

She has a small Yorkie. I don't think I have ever seen any other kind of dogs in the park besides the ones with ears or a vest. I just don't want any problems. We only have one day in the park!

If it is not a legit service dog, you will have problems. There are several hotels in the area that accept dogs. She can also use the DL kennels. They are some of the best kennels around. This way she can have to pup when not in the park.

I can honestly say, rides are rough for pups. There are movements that if the dog is not used to, can seriously scare them. Toy Story Mania seriously freaked out a well trained service dog with the quick movement. (Our dogs sleep on it, go figure...) The dog is not allowed on any ride with a height requirement. I've seen well trained service dogs have issues on Pirates.

Unless the dog is well trained/well socialized (and a legit service dog) Disneyland will not be fun for them.
