Servers On The "wonder"

We returned home today from our fantastic trip aboard the Disney Wonder--the only complaint I have is that 3 nights are NOT long enough! Our servers helped make our trip enjoyable. Our head server was Igor from Croatia and Kecha from Thailand was our assistant server. They were both very friendly and were great with the kids. Igor has been onboard for 5 years and Kecha is in the first couple of months of his 2nd 6 month contract. My mom & stepdad have cruised on other lines before and they said that our servers on DCL were far better than any they have had before.

Just came back from a Wonder cruise. We had Laszlo, but he is now teamed up with Magdalena as his assistant. He told us he is there through January on this tour, and plans to probably do a couple more, perhaps. I give him exceptionally high marks. If you get him on a cruise in the near future, make sure to wish him a happy birthday - he turned a year older on 11/6.

We had Agnes from Romania on our 9-12-04 cruise. We just loved her and on our last night she intorduced us to her husband, he was too cute. They made a great couple. Here she is with my DD4.

Gede and Thabang was our server. They were wonderful! Gede is from Bali and Thabang I think is from South Africa. Gede loves to show us tricks and the kids and I enjoyed them.

I ordered creme brulee one night...yummy! Then the following night, I wanted creme brulee again, but it was not on the menu and he said that they are not making them...but...after I got my cheesecake...VOILA...get got me creme brulee!!

I didn't know what I wanted from the menu, so I asked him to just surprise me. Well he got me this delicious Salmon I think...then a few minutes later, he got me corn on a cob which I specifically asked and then there was this steak on with the corn. He said since I didn't know what I wanted he got me two dishes!

Thabang got my kids whip cream and lots of cherries on top. I told her the kids like them, so that's what they got! HOOORAAAY for Gede and Thabang for the excellent service!! :cheer2:

We were on the 12/5 Wonder and our head server was pretty good, but his assistant (who told us this was his first and last tour on the Wonder and was leaving in 1 month) seemed to be having a hard time. In fact, John, the head server ended up doing most of the assistant's duties, as I could tell. Don't get me wrong, they were both perfectly nice and cordial, but nothing special, I guess. (Another case of having expectations built up, maybe?!)

That's why, when we went to Palo's the last night and had Dragan (Croatia), we had the best meal experience!! He was wonderful and made the meal all that more special. Wish he could have "traveled" with us the whole cruise!!

We had Boulah(sp?) and Matt(New Zealand). Both were attentive, kind, funny and wonderful.
Bhoulah was our head server on the 11/14 Wonder ... our assist server was Robert and our server was Juan but he was injured after the first night, so Robert & Bhoulah covered for him.

Last year our server was Romy and assist was Hristina ... both were fantastic.

Our Palo all time fav is Hristo.

Our server was Anita- she was lovely! Our assistant server was Erol from Bulgaria- we thought he was great too. He seemed to really enjoy his job. He said to us, "Can you believe this ship? I never could have imagined such a place before I came to work here. I always liked Mickey Mouse as a boy." I thought that was cute.

We had gede and thabang "bangbang" on 12/5 wonder. They were wonderful. You couldn't ask for better! Gede had a couple magic tricks every night. Thabang was so sweet and knew acactly what you wanted before you ordered it. My kids fell in love with them. My daughter would beg for "bangbang" to pick her up. My daughter wouldn't eat and they would spoon feed her. My daughter wanted to sit on my lap while I ate and they would take her for walks with them. I don't know were they went but they had a blast! We tried to get them to come back to Chicago!

We also had Agnes from Romania. She was very knowlegable about the menu and very sweet. Her assistant was from Mexico, but I can't remember his name. He was preoccupied as he was leaving that Sunday to go home and visit his family. Agnes was very busy trying to cover for him the last morning so he could pack.

We had Roland from the Phillipenes and Issac from Brazil. They were just precious! We found out about Roland's Child and Issac's wedding plans. They felt like family before we were gone. Truly wonderful service!!!

Wow. We were so disappointed in our servers when we were on the Magic over Halloween. The head waiter was very ineffecient, we were constantly the last ones out of the restaurant each night. That was especially irritating, since our 5 yr old DD was up way past her bedtime (we had late seating). They were terrible about refilling drinks and checking to make sure everything was ok. The formal night was in Lumiere and they even forgot my DD's dinner! They served all 6 adults at the table, then it was about 20 minutes before they brought our daughter's meal. I was steamed! The host was no help, making excuses and jokes about everything. We dreaded going to dinner. We allowed DD to eat with the kids club most nights, and a couple of times we went to topsiders. I was very disappointed. :sad2:

We were just on the 12-19-04 Wonder 4 night cruise. We had Pearl from Trinidad and Dorianne from Hungary. On the very first night I ordered a well done steak. And I stressed how important it was that it has no pink in the middle (honestly, it makes me gag!) and my husband and daughter both stressed that my steak must have no pink in it or I won't eat it. Well, let me tell you, it wasn't pink....it was blood red! I was so grossed out! You can tell before cutting into it that it was not well done. Our server and assistant server then disappeared for almost an hour. So, there I was...stuck with my gross dinner and no one to complain to. When Pearl came back, she asked why I didn't eat the steak, she even had enough nerve to ask me why I didn't tell anyone! Well, hello! There was no one there! They also never refilled our drinks. And I mean never! If you requested a refill it took at least 20 minutes to get it! They also forgot to bring ketchup for my daughter's french fries and dressing for my salad. On the fourth night I figured that with the fiasco of the first night it would be okay to order a steak again and this time it would be done right. And again I stressed how important it was that there was no pink. This time it came out even more rare than the first one! I understand that some chefs do not like cooking a steak well done, but if that is the request of the customer and they aren't the one eating it, then the request of the customer should be done. They constantly called my daughter by the wrong name (after being corrected several times). And when it came to her detailing the menu or giving us advice about the next days activiites, you couldn't hear her! And should a dinner take 2 hours? We had the 8:30 seating and we were never out of there before 10:30! The service was so lousy that I honestly don't think that I will be cruising with Disney again. I will be writing a letter to the cruiseline!
