My family and I which consists of me (30) DH(36) DD(4) DD(2) my mom (56) and my brother (21) are planning a 10 day trip to the world in May, everything is already booked and ready to go. Including airfare! WHoo hoo!! However, I am considering splurging on the last night there. We are currently staying at ASMU for those 10 nights. But I have heard so many GREAT things about the Poly I am thing that we might spend our last night there. I found on Disney's site that all 6 of us could be in one room with a theme park view. Is it worth it??

I remember going to WDW at a very young age, we camped at Fort Wilderness as we didn't have much money growing up. Our last night there our parents surprised us with a stay for one night at the Poly. Honestly I don't remember a whole lot about it, except that I thought it was beautiful. It was a great treat after have been sleeping in a tent for a wk! It made the drive home the next day much better, I think we slept better. I say if you can afford it, go for it!

My thoughts:

You only live once baby - do it right!

That being said, depending on how often you may visit disney - you may want to wait for bigger splurges until you kids can remember. I am finding that my DD 9 has forgotten much of her first trip to wdw when she was 6.

Disclaimer: I haven't been to the Poly myself, but just a thought if you choose to do the Poly stay...

It can be quite an ordeal to get a big (or small, sometimes!) family packed up and moved, so you'll need some time to get that done. At the end of a fairly long stay, a fairly "relaxed" day might be nice for such a move - maybe not a planned park day (?). Personally, I like to schedule an "off day" (maybe water park, but not a theme park) in the middle of a trip, but that could be nice both in the middle and at the end for your group since you would have more time to relax in your Poly room.

But everyone has their own way... good luck with your choice :wizard:

Sounds great and I would also suggest it be a "non-park" day. I would recommend hanging around the resort and just enjoy it. Use the pool, the beach, the hammocks, etc. Enjoy Wishes from eithe your room or the beach there.

If I were you, I'd try and stay 2 nights. Packing and moving to another resort for only 1 night is kind of a hassle. We stayed in the POFQ and then moved to the Poly and your first day you really can not enjoy the resort since you are switching etc. The Poly has such a relaxing peaceful feeling about it, you will want to enjoy your time there.
To try and keep your cost down, stay in a garden view, we did and we really liked it. My husband and I stayed at the Poly and had a lagoon view but facing the MK (which is now a MK view) and honestly, I would have been fine staying in a gardenview for the money. Just a word of caution, 4 adults and 2 children in 1 room will be cramped. When we stayed a few years ago we had 4 adults and it was a bit crowded. We were okay, for the short stay, but adding 2 children to the mix I am not sure how comfortable you will be.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I absolutely hate repacking and the thought of moving near the end of vacation, when you will be tired, with little kids seems like a huge waste of energy. I say, make reservations for one of the restaurants and go soak up the beautiful atmosphere without the hassle. Whatever you decide, have fun.

First of all we haven't done this, so this is not from our experience. This is based upon what I would/ would not do.:thumbsup2 Changing resorts could probably be an exciting addition and add an extra element to a magical vacation, but I would not do it only to sleep there with a magical view. In the circumstance you mentioned, unless you were going to spend the last day enjoying what you are paying extra for (enjoying the resort), then is it really worth it just to come back from a park and see it (your MK view) briefly before turning in for the night? If spending some time enoying the resort and it's amenities is your goal, then it may add to your trip.:cool1:
