Seriously - 10am c'mon!

My MIL made an ADR for EVERYONE in our party (9 adults and 2 kids) for Chef Mickeys at 10am on one day of our trip.
I like to go to the parks at rope drop and stay till after fireworks, so this messes up my whole plan.
Not going is not an option. Our trip is only for 6 days and I am figuring that we wont be getting to a park until 12 or 1. its a waste of a day to me, but I can't really do anything about it.
Any suggestions on what park to visit that day (8/31) or what else to do

I just checked and Chef Mickeys has 7:45 availability for 11 people. Just go change it. :thumbsup2

You could always show up for rope drop watch the show, head over to cm, look around resort, eat and enjoy your extending families company and then head back to MK with afternoon FP+ till park closes.

Wow! I really wasn't expecting all the negative reactions!. I AM going to the breakfast with my group, that's why I said not going wasn't an option. I am not being selfish or ungrateful. If it were just me, yes I would habe made earlier reservations, but Its what they want, so I am doing it.
I was just looking for suggestions as to what to do with the restof that day. Thank you to those who have given them. I have some good ideas.

so why not ask her to make it for earlier or for dinner?

i'd go to MK since its RIGHT THERE.

or if you have any relax days which i highly recommend at least one then see if it can be changed to that.

not going technically IS an option but i can understand that you don't want to make waves but i'd say a compromise on day or time could help.

and if you're gonna say that it can't be changed because there's no ADR's left i'm willing to bet thats not true.

I would do MK. That is what I love about FP+. Make your first one for 11:30 or 12 and stay until close with a QS for dinner. You are going in a relativer slower period, if you stay until close, you'll have low crowds near close. Think of it as a reverse rope drop. Spring break , holidays, summer breaks, rope drop makes more sense.

And For me 10 am is the perfect time for brunch. cM is more than breakfast. MIL was probably thinking practical. 1. Getting a large group to meet at 7:30 am?!?! 2. For that price and volume of food, it's bkfast and luncg( brunch)

We always sleep in, swim and hit MK around 3:30. Just when people are leaving after the parade and we do alot.

Unless you are the rope drop, running from ride to ride with you head off type to have all rides done by noon type, then you need to change your plans for a day. Try it, it's relaxing!!!

I do appreciate that you only have 6 days there, but just because you like to RD and stay all day surely doesn't mean that everyone has to fall in line with what you want. It's one day, try not to stress about it. Your MIL may not have realised what the timing meant, and just thought "Oh, wouldn't it be lovely for everyone to eat together".

Realistically, it's not going to ruin the holiday, is it?

We actually always do a late breakfast ADR at Chef Mickeys since it is not inside a theme park. Ours is usually 11am though which I like so we use it as brunch and then just eat dinner. We always do it on our Magic Kingdom day because we can still rope drop Magic Kingdom and then a 5 minute monorail ride to the Contemporary and we are there. Then another quick monorail back to the magic kingdom. So we still rope drop magic kingdom and end the evening there. i found this wastes the least amount of time.

Have you checked to see if MK has early entry that day? Assuming you are staying somewhere onsite.

You can get a lot done in an hour on an early entry day. Even if it is just a 9am opening, go to the MK, do what you like and head back out about 9:45am. Walk over to the Contemp. It's ten minutes tops if you walk slow! You will work up a little appetite for the buffet at CM's. I often stay at Bay Lake and always walk unless I have to go into the Contemp before I go to MK.

Doing MK works the breakfast into your day best. Schedule your fastpasses for after the breakfast, not before. You should be able to get at least 3-4 things done in that first hour.

Whatever you do have a great time with your family!

If it were me I'd skip CM or make it a non park day. However, if I had paid for a park ticket that day I would not do CM at 10:00am, the tickets just cost way too much anymore. It will take up all your morning. Can you talk her into the Crystal Palace inside the MK? It would still take up park time, but at least you won't lost transportation time.

I'm a rope drop person - and yep - 10 am at CM would drive me nuts, too. But - like others have said - just do rope drop at MK, do breakfast. If you have a hopper - you can go wherever afterwards. If not - back to MK. Large family group stuff always involves compromises. Honestly - I'd say MIL is being smart:

1) It's not in a park so its not dictating what park someone goes to that day if they don't have a hopper.
2) It's a mid-morning time - forcing both early and later risers to compromise - but because its in the middle - nobody can complain too much.
3) CM is good for "everyone" in terms of food - it's not the best food at WDW - but everyone can find something to eat there.
4) It's a character meal - which is great for family fun and photo ops.
5) If folks don't have a car - it's not too tough of a spot to get to compared to some locations.

I'm headed on a family trip soon, and there are lots of things planned at times I would never chose on my own - but remembering that its about family time and having more people happy than just me is key to success. And well, family did compromise a bit for me, too. I may feel like I am doing more compromising than I want - but I'm sure others feel the same!

Gotta love family!

No, the problem with a compromise like this is that EVERYBODY will complain. No one is happy.

I can't even imagine 10 a.m. breakfast. That's nearly lunch time.

Personally, I'd go with the big group trip philosophy of "not everybody has to do everything". Then decide whether to make it a non-park day and go, or decline the invitation.

You obviously don't have kids who wake up at 6am no matter where they are. I would make 7am breakfast ADRs every day of my trip if I could.
Not anymore. I have two teens that would prefer to sleep until noon if I let them.

Come join us at Epcot that day! :grouphug:

Seriously, I would just do as others have posted on Epcot. There are so few FP+ there and WS opens at 11. Take the morning to sleep in, relax at the pool, hit your CM ADR then take the monorail to EPCOT. Stay cool midday in FW buildings then find a good dinner ADR in WS. :thumbsup2
