Who has the better monte cristo sandwich? Café New Orleans or Blue Bayou?
This is a "must have" while we are there! Thanks!

"Better" is subjective. For some people, the ambience of BB makes the monte cristo taste better. Who doesn't want to eat inside POTC? But for others, the lower cost at CO makes the sandwich much tastier. We like both, always end up sharing (that sandwich is so filling!), and where we order it depends on our mood and our wallet. As the pp said, both restaurants share a kitchen, so there really isn't going to be a huge difference between the two. By the way, there is also a 3 cheese version which is quite fun, too.

We just returned from a trip last week. We always look forward to eating at the Blue Bayou Room...particularly for their Monte Cristo sandwiches. However....this might have been my last time eating there. They have made some modifications that really disappointed us. First off, they do not include soup or salad with the meal as they used to. Also, the sandwich is much smaller than it used to be. We were told by our server that they have also lowered the price of the sandwiches to reflect this change; however, the sandwiches were still $29 (can't recall what the price used to be)/ No side dish with the sandwiches.....I think my husband and I were stunned when they sat the plates down in front of us. Sooo....we decided to eat the M.C.'s at Cafe Orleans later in our trip, and the cost was $8 less, but they were the same size as the Blue Bayou one used to be. Still no soup or salad, but for that price, I wouldn't expect it.

I love this. It's so true that something can "taste" better based on overall experience.

It reminds me of when my kids were young and they thought anything I served them tasted better than if someone else served it to them. Even when it was the exact same thing. "Mom's is better!"

Make sure you split the Monte Crisco. It is a complete gut bomb and will ruin your afternoon if you try to eat the whole thing at lunch.

We eat regular fare at BB and then my wife gets the MC at Cafe Orleans. Have enjoyed both for many years.

The sandwich is much smaller now at BB....you will likely not want to split it with anyone. But I do agree the one at Cafe Orleans is large enough to split.

I don't feel like either place was better. However, I love Cafe Orleans' patio and sitting next to the promenade and the Rivers of America. Unless it's 90+ degrees, that would be my choice.
