Serene September WISH 2025

DD’s BF is arriving from the UK in 11 days which means I have to begin preparing for a house guest. In the summer, certain rooms in the house are neglected because we’re outside a lot, so I have a lot of cleaning and decluttering to do. DD can’t help me this weekend because she’s a maid of honor in her friend’s wedding. Thankfully the weather is beautiful which will be wonderful for this wedding on the beach.

School is still very challenging, but finally the superintendent visited the kindergarten classes and saw firsthand what we are dealing with…he was kicked in the leg by one child and scratched by another😂. He demanded that my 2nd meeting for my student be moved from the end of October to next week. So that is progress. In the meantime, all kindergarten teachers across the district are suffering just like I am because of inappropriate special education placements and having no paraprofessionals to assist us with our challenging 2020 babies and their unique needs including diaper changing. Apparently all of that time at home was not used for toilet training and school readiness. Instead we have too many maladjusted children to handle. My classroom is more like a daycare center than a kindergarten classroom.

No aides in today's kindergarten classrooms is just ridiculous, @Summer2018. You have my sympathy.
Currently, there's a mass exodus from my district to the affluent suburbs because of these conditions. So far, we have lost 17 teachers just from my school to wealthier districts where there are smaller class sizes, multiple paraprofessionals, appropriate SPED placements, tremendous support, and much higher pay. The only teachers that will be left will be veteran teachers who are planning to retire within the next 10 years. It's too risky for us to lose tenure and start all over again. :sad1: :sad2::sad:

OMG... I did my usual of not signing in over the weekend and forgot to post Sat/Sun, so sorry everyone.

Motivation this week... well, there's the quick trip today and tomorrow which is a test case for me on how to manage more work travel coming up. Honestly the most challenging part is having to go out to group dinners after people-ing all day.

The other motivation is to go with the eclipse energy... the old you is dead and a new fated path is opening up. I'm really feeling it.

The forcing party concept is much like the body doubling life-hack used in the neurodivergent community, where you have a designated partner and scheduled times to do stuff together.

Woohoo... back in the office. It was a good trip and woohoo that it was short.

Woohoo... the sun is now coming up when we are midchannel on the way into the city and it is beautiful.

DH and meet in college. We had Economic class together. I don't know when either is knew that we would be together the rest of our lives. I did tell my sister the day of our first date that I was going to marry him.

I am about 1.5 week since my surgery and nothing seems to be going good. The hysterectomy part of the surgery went great but when they gave me this blue dye to check my bladder, it didn't come back out. They were just getting clear fluid. They did the dye a second time and the same happened so they called in the urologist and he tried. Still the same. He decided to add stents in the tube that goes from your kidneys to your bladder as a precaution.

I ended up having to stay the night in the hospital and almost a second day but talked my OBGYN to discharge me with the instructions to give her updates each day. I was in a ton of pain and really nauseous and the hospital wasn't doing anything to maintain pain meds. Just was giving them as I asked. When my doctor came to visit she said she did some research and it is very rare but some people absorb the dye quicker and she thinks I was one of them. So nothing was wrong and I didn't need the stents but they were staying in for a week.

I found out that the horrible pain I was in was because of the stents. I have to go on Friday to the surgery center to have them removed (they have to sedate/put me to sleep to do it). Pain has been getting worse and found out I now have a UTI. I think this has been festering for about a week but I thought it was just pain from the stents or surgery itself. Sleeping has been horrible as it has been more comfortable to sit cris cross then to lay down. I am hoping that after Friday things will start to get better

2 day after surgery work called me (very unusual for them to contact anyone on PTO). One of my coworkers that I work with really closely passed away Tuesday night unexpectedly. She was only like 30-35 and has a 5 year old that just started kindergarten. I have been handling it really well. I am thinking because of surgery and haven't had to focus on it yet. It will when I am back at work. I feel so bad as I am not there for my employees (most of them worked under her for awhile before things were switched around last fall). Work has been great and are setting up group counseling. One specific to our team and one for the rest of the company. I love my company for being so much into helping their employees. Since I can't make it into the office right now they even offered to set up a one one counseling for me.

Hugs, @piglet1979

The virtual forcing party worked - I did manage to clean my dishwasher filter yesterday. 🫧

(Today... the fish tank. 🐠)

Grateful that I went to a build day Tuesday with Habitat for Humanity. I met some other nice volunteers, we mostly did cleanup and hauling stuff around, but it felt really good.
