I wanted to know if I should plant these seeds in the ground or start them in little pots. Any info. on taking care of these would be appreciated. I have been buying these serano chilis at the grocery store, and I think it's time to grow my own. As for the lavender, I had seen some beautiful plants on our trip and want to see if they will grow here.

Does this mean you're a Chili Head, Patsy, looking for the next buzz? ;) :p :D

While trying to find some info on growing Serrano chilies, that's how they refer to hot chili pepper lovers. I used that "tongue out" smilie to represent the heat!!

Okay, after all that goofing around, here are a couple of links with some info on Serrano chilies. It sounds like you could plant them from either seeds or plants.

As far as lavender goes, I'm unsure if it can be grown in Hawaii or not??????

Are serano chilis the hottest chilis there are? I love eatting them so I guess I am a chili head.

Thanks for the links Snowwark.

Good morning, Chili Head! :p ;)

Now don't quote me on this, but from what I've read, these are the hottest chilies around. I think I'll pass on the taste test...yikes!!

Red Savina Habanero AKA Scotch Bonnet

~Hottest known chile (350-500,000 Scoville Units of pure heat). If you've just eaten one, you won't be wondering what kind of chili it was.~

You might enjoy reading the following website, Patsy. It includes an explanation of the Scoville Scale for measuring the "heat".

I've planted lavender in pots to start. I put it in the ground when I need the pot is overflowing. It's a very nice container plant and a good companion to roses. It should grow very well in your climate. I love it for sachets, mmm good.

My sister grew habaneros last year! HOT HOT HOT!!!

I even sent some to some chili heads!

Thanks Deb. I will start my seeds in pots. I had actually gone to Lowe's and had gotten two Lavender Munstead plants, so hopefully I will start to see flowers by the ending of the year or next year. The plant itself is very fragarant.
