Sequoia Lodge - Any Tips

So my girlfriends and I are staying at Sequoia Lodge for 4 nights and well I wondered if there were any recommendations or tips any of you can give me as it will be my first stay there? I previously stayed at Santa Fe and enjoyed that but we visited Sequoia and the theming really appealed to me

We will be there for Easter Week arriving 17th and leaving 21st.

Getting an early breakfast slot seems to be common advice on most trip reports

Been to Sequoia twice, love the place (my favourite of the 4 hotels we have stayed in).
As you say you will love the theming, so rustic, and the smell when you enter the hotel from the lake is so good (evokes memories to me as i type!!).

Take your swimming stuff too, the pool is quite nice, well, the whirlpool is and there are saunas and steam rooms in the changing rooms which a nice and relaxing.

Service in the bar there is very good too from my own experience, so if you want a relaxing drink after a hard day Disneying then definitely check it out (Im at DLP from Monday - yippee nearly there now - and although we are staying at Cheyenne we will surely have a nice drink in the Sequoia at some point!)..

We've stayed at the SL too .
I loved the main building and like Luke loved the aroma and they also have nice 'background noise' .

My tip is to walk to the park straight from breakfast.(If you're not having a GMF breakfast of course. )You can go out the back door which backs right onto the lake. This takes you round past either the Newport Bay or the Hotel New York with a great view of Panoramagique and the village.It's a lovely walk and ads to the excitement.

You are so right, I love the walk around the Lake to the parks, in fact I have never taken the shuttle (not having young kids, or kids at all, helps this as i appreciate it would be a bit much for them really) any time when I have been there.

Also last time we stayed there, we had on of the additional building (ie not the main building lol) and had a wonderful view of Panoramagique (or Globe as it was then) from our room

We had anearly three year old and walked every day. It's not really that far.

We walked back and for the NPB everyday with a 3 year old. On the one occasion when I'd gone down to the village at night and decided to get the shuttle back I waited almost half an hour for one, definately quicker and easier to walk it.

Cool tips thank you so much. We'll definitely walk - last time I was there I walked every day from Santa Fe to the parks so this is no big deal at all for me or my friends.

I do love that bar and will deffo be making use of it.

Oh and great tip on the swimsuits - I can't wait - one week to go

Hi Sam

• When you check in ask for a room in the main lodge - that way you are right near the Lounge and Restaurants.
• If you like Ducks (might seem an odd thing to say but my family love the birds on the lake!) take a couple of rolls from breakfast to feed to the birds.
• At the pool keep an eye on your towels - somebody took ours and you do have to pay for them. Luckily the CM let us have some more free of charge.
• Drinks at the bar can be expensive but the wine is quite good value by the bottle and reasonably good. It can save you some cash if you and a few friends share a bottle.
• Breakfast can be a bit of a scrum and you will be allocated a time. As Cyrano said an early time is better but CMs won't turn you away if you arrive outside of the allocated time.

I'd recommend asking for a high floor. The rooms can be a bit dark, and the first time we stayed there we were on the ground floor, and it was frankly quite gloomy. Given the design of the building, the windows are smaller on the lower floors (I think the stone-clad floors), and there can be less natural daylight lower down with all the trees...

I really liked Sequoia myself and I can definitely vouch for the walk to the park - I'm not a speedy walker but it made for a very pleasant stroll just after breakfast.

I had a ground floor room in one of the lodges and I don't recall finding it too dark - I preferred it to struggling up the stone steps to a room in a similar lodge when I stayed at the Santa Fe. After a hard day trudging round enjoying myself those steps were nearly the straw that broke the camel's back

I stopped here a couple of years ago and found it very nice, with a lovely pool to relax in at the end of the day.

However, I did find breakfast very busy.

But more importantly, I am heading back there tomorrow Monring until Sunday. And to say I am excited is a massive under statement....
