We are going to WDW the last week of September. :cool1: I have heard that it's hot and humid. So my question to all the vet's is what do you bring to make your days at the parks easier? How do you tour the parks? Go early, take a afternoon break at resort, then head back to park in the evening? What is the weather like during the early mornings and evening time? What kind of clothing to wear? Any advice all would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!

I am going the last week of September too! The plan is to wear shorts and tank tops, drink lots of water and take it slow. Thankfully all the attractions are air conditioned. I rarely take afternoon breaks from the parks, instead I'll just find a cool place to sit if I'm tired. Tommarow Land Transit Authority (TTA) is a great spot!

Here in another helpful hint: Tons of people carry around those water bottle spray fans, but I don't like carring it around. So I'll just find a nice stranger in line and ask them to spray me down. :lmao: I have never been refused!

I didn't realize that it it is so hot in September? :confused3

I use to spend summers in southern Florida. I'm guessing September is not as hot. :sunny:

Stay out of the sun durning mid day :sunny:

Drink lots of water/poweraid

Swim in sunblock

That is what we usually do too. I don't like taking the time to go back to the room. When you ar etired and hot TTA is the best ride!!!

Well we will be there and lugging around the spray bottles so if we meet you in line we'll share

Last September it was not to hot and it might have something to do with a storm or hurricane that drew the humidity away. But for me it was not as hot as july or august . Dont know what it will be like this though but the crowds
were very light. Walks on for most rides. I went after Labor Day though.

During September, there aren't many lines to deal with, so you get into the air conditioning of the attractions pretty quickly.

It's still warm in September, so pack summer clothes.

I LOVE September! :)

We were there the last week of Sept. last year - and it was very hot & humid. I said I wouldn't want to go back at that time - we liked Dec. better - but free dining has me going back. :)

We don't take breaks in the afternoon.

Like SnackyStacky said, we weren't out in the heat all that much.

We wore tank tops, shorts, and crocs the entire time - even when we were out late for EMH.

I'm going to give you the tip of all tips.

After we figured this out on our last trip we had people literally right up against our bodies trying to catch some of the breeze...

Here it goes, it's a combination of 2 things
*I'm not endorsing any of these resalers, I'm only giving you a link so you can see what they look like.

1. Misty Mate
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00018AT9I/104-5709313-9273511?v=glance&n=3760901
This does not require batteries and we would fill it with cold water from the faucet and a few ice cubes in the morning. It works on pressure so all you need to do is pump it up and it will "mist" you with water. We were worried that it would get our faces or clothing dripping wet but that didn't happen, it was very nice.

2. Small pocket sized fan
http://www.personalfans.com/Merchan...PROD&Product_Code=V-2028-48&Category_Code=HHF

Now I know that there are bigger fan/mist combinations that are often sold right in the parks... We've had those before and they don't even approach the coolness that you will receive from this combination. I'm sure you get the point but basically you turn the valve to mist you and you hold the mister between yourself and the fan, so the fan blows the cold mist on you. The misty mate has a pouch that connects to your belt if you want (at least ours does). The pocket sized fan is exactly that, it fits in your pocket.

boardmail me if you have any questions

Hi all you last week-ers! :thumbsup2 See you there!! :woohoo:

We've done it twice now, once in 2003 and once in 2006. Wear very light clothing and light colors. Pull your hair back if there is any length to it or better yet wear a hat. Don't forget the sunscreen and drink TONS of water. When it is hot like that and you are sweating you can't drink enough water.

The nights aren't much cooler than the days so really all you need are t shirts or tank tops and shorts. Like everyone else said the great thing is the lines aren't that long for rides so you aren't standing in the direct sun for long. We usually do a ride then a show and repeat that throughout the day so you get a fair amount of A/C that way. The crowd level more than makes up for the heat. Have fun.

September is hot...but it's not bad at all because there are no crowds (so now waiting on lines in the heat) AND you're pretty much guaranteed some rain just about everyday to cool things off a bit.

Don't stress about it...end of September is one of my favorite times to go! :goodvibes

We went the last week in September last year and for someone from upstate NY it was very hot and humid. My DD and I wore tank tops, shorts and sandals all day long with our hair tied back. We also used little fans with misters to keep cool. My DH likes to suffer in sneakers and socks and refuses to use a fan, I think he doesn't consider it manly. My DD was only 3 so we ended up going back to the resort every afternoon for a swim and to rest up for the evening.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm hoping that it isn't very humid. I can't take the heat (I know I shouldn't go that time of the year BUT I couldn't let the free dining slip by) Does anyone else have any other tips. I will have my 2 kids (ages 3 and 4) and my sister 13 with us. Any tips on how to keep them cool?

Thanks again. I hope to have a WONDERFUL trip b/c of the Disboards.

We've been in late September about 4 or 5 times. It is hot, but not unbearable. we've always been lucky and not had rain (except for the last time during Hurricane Jeanne);

The evening hours are somewhat limited, except for the EMH parks and Epcot at 9, so we never took afternoon breaks, instead what we did was enjoy the morning, eat a leisurely lunch, usually a character meal in A/c; then enjoyed the A/c shows in the afternoon. we saved our pool trips for the evening.

We each carried water bottles, and I took a washcloth in a ziploc which we got wet at the water fountain, or bathroom, and draped it over the back of our neck to cool us down.

We love September! It is our month of choice for Disney World. Sure it's hot, but it's Florida. I've been during 4th of July week before, and that was PAINFULLY HOT. But living in MI, we haven't gotten our "Summer Skin" by 4th of July. But by the time September rolls around we are used to hot weather, so it doesn't feel quite so bad. Drink a lot of water, and try to stay out of the sun as much as you can, save the wet rides for the heat of the afternoon.

I was just going to ask how old your kids are. We went last Sept with our two little ones and will be going back AGAIN this Sept. Can't beat free dining! We're in similar boats as our two at this trip will be just 4 and almost 3.

If you're a cumpulsive planner as I am, the best word of warning I will give you is to be prepared for your kids to be wiped out by the weather. I thought the best time for us all would be the mornings. My kids are early risers and they usually have the most energy in the mornings. So, imagine my surprise when we arrived at the parks at opening, all set to get the top 5 - 10 things done on the list during this 'energetic' time - and by the time we rented the stroller I looked down and both of them looked ready for a nap - LOL!

So, for this year's plans - -I'm writing in a lot of (if it's really hot - go to one of the water sprinklers (Donald's boat, etc.) for a couple hours. I'm playing it more by ear (at least as much as is possible for me). And just keep offering lots and lots of water.

We stayed at POP last year and this year it's ASMo - so no frig in the room. What worked well for us was bringing bottled water for us and throwing a few bottles in the diaper bag. Plus we brought a sports water bottle. Whenever we passed a snack bar with no line - we would ask to have the water bottle filled with ice and just pour our warm water into it. It worked great and saved having to buy 10 bottles a day!

Have a ball!

We'll be there too the last week of Sept. Maybe it will be more crowded with all of us going. LOL 150 more days!!!! :cool1:

love september. went last year and no lines, even with the free dining. going back this september and hoping for the same.

Well be there from the 4th to the 14th of September. Last year we went a week later (Gotta get one more trip on those season passes). Granted, I'm FROM Florida...an actual Native Florida Girl. I just don't remember it being unbearable last year. We went in 2002 at the end of May and it was HORRID. The heat was totally unbearable. I'm hoping most of the humidity will be gone by September, but you definately don't have to worry about being cool at night. It's definately shorts of capri pants weather.
