Hi!

My friends and I have decided to go to our first pin event at WDW. We are planning on going to the one in September. I am looking for planning advice. I am hoping to stay somewhere on the boardwalk so that we are close to Epcot. How many activities do you think they will have? Will it take up the whole time or will we have time to park hop? What can I expect?

Thanks!
Melissa

Let's see - I was there last August. Activities? Pin trading, pin trading and more pin trading. I remember running around the World Showcase a couple of times (in the HEAT!) doing the pin pursuit. And the only "hopping" I did was over to the Contemporary for the Friday night pin meet and then on Saturday over to the Swan (or was it the Dolphin) for the Laurie/Jeff pin meet.

Oh and there were the lines - but we won't go there. They did have a demonstration on how pins are made. Although I never actually sat through the whole demonstration I probably heard bits and pieces of it at least ten (if not more) times.

Did I mention we did a lot of pin trading?

Would I do it again - ABSOLUTELY!

Actually I ended up doing more park hopping than most. I went in, put my paper in and then left when I found that the trading area was not accessible in my wheelchair and there were no interpreters for any of the talks. Very fustrating for me. Most people though seems to spend a lot of time there at EPCOT. Yes I did the pin pursuit which was fun but also fustrating at times due to the many people that would step right in front of my chair when I was in line.

Melissa, money, money & more money! We (five adults & two teenagers) were only there for the last two days of the four day EPCOT event. Two days was long enough :). We waited in line after line after line. And Lisa, I have to agree ... the event was not set up well for anyone using a wheelchair or ECV. I used an ECV. My friends stood in line & I told them I would watch for them to get to the front. Way too much zigging & zagging for an ECV. Whoever planned the line que did not try it with people & wheelchairs & ECVS.

If you are doing one of these you had better be prepared for the entire visit to be spent on pins! I had such a bad time that I have not traded pins since then. Sorry to be so negative, but what bothered me most were the "sharks" and rude people I was in line with. I do not go to Disney to spend all day cooped up with people who are trying to take advantage of others!

Went to enjoy pin trading and meet everyone from online. Everyone was upset that I didn't see the parks, but the weather was horrible hot so I decided to do just what I came for. I did see Epcot on the Monday after the pin event...so I did some things. Everyone I talked to that tried to see the parks and do the pin event.......weren't to happy. The weather made ya cranky and it was hard to get back to do what you had to for the pin event. I think it was a great event and if you don't try to do everything.....you can have a good time. I had 4 days of fantastic pin trading and meeting my online friends. I am going again in Sept. and will have a good time again.

I JUST CALLED CRO AND CHANGED MY RESERVATIONS SO I WILL BE THERE FOR THE BIG PIN EVENT.

I AM SO EXCITED, AND LOOK SO FORWARD TO MEETING MAD STRAWBERRY. SHE WAS ONE OF MY FIRST TRADES AND HAS SET THE PACE FOR MY PIN TRADING AND COLLECTING - SHE PROBABLY DOES NOT KNOW THAT.

I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING AND TRADING WITH EVERYONE IN SEPTEMBER.
