I always hate posts like these, but now here I am asking. :confused3

September = chance of bad weather
October = chance of high crowds due to Food & Wine Fest

Is this right?

Thank you!

The first weekend of Oct. hasn't been bad for us. We usually go either the last weekend of September (this year!) or the first in October. Weekends do have bad crowds for F&W. We went Halloween week a few years ago, and we hit quite chilly weather and lots of rain.

September = way too hot!

October= cooler weather mid-month to end of month. Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween party AND F&W festival.

I go September every year (including this year). Crowds are fairly light and the weather is great as long as you don't mind the heat.

We went the last week of october last year and crowds were not that bad even with the F&W.

September has free dining. That's enough reason to go in October.

Yep - September = free dining - gotta compete for restaurant reservations if you want them.

I went the last week of October as well last year. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We felt the crowds were light compared to other times.

In 2008, we found that "niche" week which was after free dining but b/4 FW really got going in Oct. FW was operating but since it was late Sept the FW crowds were very manageable. The only drawback was that it was very warm and humid, but hey...there are always tradeoffs.

We enjoy the weekend/week of Labor Day. Sure, its HOT and ADR's can be a pain with free dining BUT we enjoy the low crowds. We were just there in May and had rain every day. We have enjoyed our September trips a lot.

We went the 3rd week of September the first year and were overwhelmed with love bugs. We were told that it was the last week of the bugs and it was still awful. We've gone in Octover ever since.

I hated those bugs!!

We have gone Labor day week, mid September and the last week of Sept/ beginning of October. The last was my fave by far, because food and wine hadn't started and free dining was over.

Unfortunately, this year they overlap with free dining going until 10/3 and the food and wine starting 9/25. I think I would choose the cooler weather and food & wine rather than the bugs and free dining. But you might have a harder time to get a dvc ressie for October if you have not made anything yet, whereas we have never had a problem getting exactly what we want in September. Plus September's points chart is better.

I do not have to decide this year as we are going in Nov/Dec....
