The flatbread does sound good - except for the arugula; not a fan. I wish that your cupcake had tasted as good as the description, I was ready to jump through the screen to get at it! ;)

I've never been a fan of arugula either, just too bitter for me. Plus I've always thought lettuce on pizza was a liitle weird. I think the cupcake may have been day old or so, I don't know how often they restock their baked goods, it would've been really good if the cake had been moister. And I wish Disney would use something other then sickingly sweet icing on their cupcakes, I loved it when I was little, now it's just too sweet for me.

After my meal at Contempo, I thought about heading back to the Magic Kingdom, since the monorail was still down, and that would be easiest, but I had planned on stopping at all the monorail resorts today, and I didn't want to change my plans. So I went to the bus stop, and hopped on a bus to the Polynesian.

As soon as I got there I went and had a seat in the lounge. A server never came over. At first I thought it was because there was only one, and he was just busy the first few minutes, but as drinks were served to all the tables around me, and glasses were cleared, it was clear I wasn't being paid any attention to, so I walked up to the bar, and just sat there.

I ordered the wild orchid.

It was a mix of mango rum, citrus liquor, and pineapple juice.

I thought it was quite tasty, a little sweeter then most other drinks I had, but good.

On another note, I flipped through two of Tambu's bar menus, and it looks like a lot of the cocktails are gone from the pages, I didn't see any of the drinks that are usually in there, but I did see someone drinking a lapu lapu, and backscratchers at the bar, so they are still being made.

Why did you not tell me about this drink sooner? Oh man now I have a stong desire to get in the car and drive to the Poly for cocktails tonight :goodvibes

So after my drink at the Polynesian, I walked, (and I never knew I could walk,) to the Grand Floridian to my next stop - Mizner's Lounge.

Even though I'd had dinner, I knew I wanted to order the gatuea of crab from Citricos, which had always been on Mizner's menu before. Flipping to the back of the menu where the food offerings are listed, I was so disappointed when I saw no Citrico's menu items listed. I asked the waitress if it would be possible to get it anyway, and she said that was absolutly no problem. Needless to say I was very happy, and she got a nice little tip above the 18% that was included with Tables in Wonderland.

If you've read my past reviews, you might remember that I've had this twice before. It's odd for me to order anything more then once since I like to mix things up and try something new everytime I eat at a restaurant, so something has to be pretty outstanding for me to order it again, let alone a third time.

This was just as good as I remembered it. It gets my vote for best appetizer anywhere on Disney property, and is one of the best things I have eaten in my entire life, and I have eaten a lot of really good food.

It's a very creamy crab cake, for lack of a better description, and is also slightly cheesy. It's topped with a fennel sauce that is yummy as well, and goes very well with it.

Needless to say, it gets an;

For my drink I had the fusion lemonade.

It was a mix of citrus vodka, pomegrante liquor, passionfruit liquor, and lemonade.

It was all right, I had liked my drink at the Polynesian much better though. It seemed a little too tart, and could've used something to make it a little sweeter. Plus there seemed to be a lot of ice in it, and as the ice melted, I got that yucky Florida water aftertaste in my mouth.

Coming up next is the Wishes dessert party, and I have a lot to say about that. That review should be up sometime later today.

I'm loving your reviews. We are staying at the GF next month. The crab sounds wonderful. What other appetizers were on the menu?

I don't even know where to start with this. I guess the easiest way to start would be to pick up with me leaving the Grand Floridian, and taking the boat over to the Magic Kingdom. Which is when two things happened, 1) the boat driver announced that the Magic Kingdom would be open until 10:00, even though the times guide and everything else said 9:00, so an extra hour in the park, which really helped since it allowed me to fit in the rest of my must-dos, and let me spend my last day at Epcot, which I totally lucked out with getting into Sweet Sundays from. But now I am getting way ahead of myself.

I have four things that I am going to be reviewing in this review, the service, the food, the view, and the other guests. I know the way other guests act is not Disney's fault, but I encountered more rude people this evening then I did during the rest of the trip combined, that it really put a damper on the evening.

I checked in for the dessert party at 7:30, which was a half hour before it started. It seemed like they were taking a few walkups, but for the most part it was sold out. I was walked to my table by a CM, who was very plesant, and I ended up with a great table, right in the front, and right next to the beverages.

I have to say the service here was very good, everyone was very nice, and they were only outdone by the servers at Party for the Senses later in the week. So there were no problems with the service, that part was lovely.

The view was wonderful. I had a direct view of Cinderella Castle from my table, and could even see Spectro. No, it wasn't a perfect view of the parade, but it was decent, and I could see most of it. And Tinker Bell does fly directly over your head.

The other guests, well, they leave something to be determined. I really hate people who have entitled attitudes, or who just have no respect for other guests.

First of all, a party seated near me had a small child. I get that this is Disney, and there are children everywhere. And I like kids, I really do, but when they are climbing all over the chairs at my table, parents really need to control a little better.

Also, a lady up at the buffet was complaining that the plates were too small. It's a buffet, who cares how big the plates are, you can come up for seconds.

There was also people putting their dirty dishes on my table, since they didn't have room on their table for them. How, I wonder did they manage to fit their plates on the table when there was food on them I wonder, if they couldn't possibly fit after they had finished eating. Let alone the fact that I really don't like looking at other's plates of scraps of uneaten food while I'm trying to eat.

The rudest guests however, were two that took over my table completely. I had finished eating, and had gone to stand at the balcony for a minute. I just can't sit still for that long, and I wanted to get a couple pictures of the castle anyway. While I was up, and mind you I was probably only about ten feet away from my table, which had a little "reserved for disneyfav4ever's party" slip taped to it. A couple came up, ripped off the slip, and decided to sit there.

When I went back over to the table, and luckily I had grabbed my bag when I went up to the balcony, since I had my back to the table, they said this was their table, and they were here first. Um, no, it's my table. I don't want to sound greedy or selfish, but it was my table. Luckily a CM came over before anything else happened, and told the people that this was a reserved spot for party guests and they had to leave. So they had just snuck into the area, and had hoped not to get caught. Yup, definatly not their table.

The buffet was kind of unorganized. There were plates on both ends, and people would go down the buffet both ways, so there was no clear line.

Some buffets pictures for you;

Anyway, the food, for the most part, was fine. I can't complain about it, but I'm not raving about it either. It was all just really eh, except for a couple of items that I really did enjoy, though nothing earned the critic's rating.

On my first plate I had a raspberry tart, fruit tart, chocolate-peanut butter tart, a mango shooter, chocolate mousse, and a chocolate-covered strawberry.

The raspberry tart and mango shooter were both too tart, but not horrible, so both get an Emile.

On this plate I had tiramisu, cheesecake, a banana cream pie tart, pistachio creme brulee, and a doughnut. Luckily the food on this plate was slightly better then the food on my first plate.

The banana cream pie was all right, the filling was kind of runny, and the pastry was yucky, but it was edible, so it gets an Emile.

I also had a couple glass fulls of the blackberry iced tea which was very tasty and refreshing.

I'm completely gob-smacked that people thought they could just crash a party, remove your reserved tag and claim it was their table. What is WRONG with some folks?? :sad2: :sad2: It boggles the mind. The desserts look delicious but, we know, that can be deceiving.

My pic of the Black Forest Cupcake.

Loved your cupcake review because, ever since we had a rave review and recipe request for it on the Disney Recipe Exchange, I had looked forward to trying it. It looked great but the taste - not so much! As my sister said, you DON"T need a recipe for this. Just use a chocolate cake mix, put cherry pie filling inside the cupcake and glob marshmallow creme icing on top. WAY too sweet. I think we share similar tastes disneyfav and look forward to reading more.
BTW, I always request this, but if anyone picked up any recipe printouts or cards from the Food and Wine events, please share them on the Recipe exchange  :worship:

I have the cookbook, I'll try and post some tomorrow.

I forget what all was on the bar menu, but since I was able to get the crab from Citricos, I'd assume the rest of the appetizers from there would be available, which includes tuna carpaccio, goat cheese truffle salad, shrimp and pasta dish, and a cheese plate.

Great reviews, disneyfav! I hate that your dessert party was ruined by such inconsiderate people. Every year that I go to Disney, I find that the other guests attitudes are getting more and more obnoxious and rude. It makes me long for the good old days when everyone was just happy to be at Disney and treated everyone else with kindness and good cheer.

Luckily that was the only time I experianced really rude people. There seem to be a few obnoxious people every trip, but it seems one always really stands out.

I can only think of one thing that was kind of rude the next day, and that was really an afterthought on my part that it was rude, and then nothing rude the rest of the trip.

On the other hand, I had some major pixie dust sprinkled on me my last morning by another guest, but I'll save that for when I get to the end of my reviews.

What day were you at the wishes dessert party? We were there 9/29 at 8:40 pm and everything was very nice then. I hate hearing that you had a bad time there.

I was there after you. If it hadn't been for the rude people, I would have had a very nice time, as the desserts weren't horrible, but people certainly put a damper on the evening.
