September/October 2007 Code, Discount and Rates Watch

I agree with you, I was thinking of maybe joining AAA. I wonder what kind of discount do they offer. I just called reservations and they guy didn't know what I was talking about when I asked if their was a code attached to my name.

Here is the number on my postcard - 407-939-7822
My postcard was for room only but I was able to book a package with it.

Just call and ask if you have a discount available for your household/dates.

Here's hoping you get the discount! pixiedust:

I just called AAA today. They said for a moderate hotel for my dates (which are actually in Nov and are considered value days) they can get me about 20% off. That is confusing to me, because when I compare with their numbers on my own, I come up with the same price online (without their discount). So it really doesn't seem to be a deal for me. And then there is the $60 fee to join AAA. BUT if I were going to save %20 from what I found elsewhere and I felt like I would use the AAA books and maps, then that would be a good plan !
AAA is very handy for any travel. The discounted hotels and guide books are great.

Ok, question...we booked through AAA to get the discount...now if there was a code available would we be able to apply that?? Just not sure how that works.

Also, people are saying that they called to ask if there was a code by your name...I am assuming this only works with people who have booked vacations with Disney before?!?

I am not sure what discount you have. But if you had a pincode associated with your name, your AAA TA could apply that to your ressie. Now, if you booked with AAA with a room only discount and WDW came out with lets say a package code, you would have to pick one discount or the other.

There is no rhyme or reason to the codes. Make sure you register with WDW websites. That might help. The current 40% is a pincode that must be tied to a household. My first trip, a couple of months after I booked I got a post card, but I had been registered for several months, so who knows? Good luck!!

I am thinking of upgrading to an AP to get the discount. Does anyone know when those discounts will be available?

The AP rate for Sept come out in about June/July for Oct its about August.

But its Disney they could release them tomorrow. lol

AAA also gets you 30% off at Lenscrafters (& related eye exam, too) - a great deal if you buy your glasses there.

I priced an AAA discount, too - it was 20% off, but don't forget that the tax is 12.5% or 13%, which is not included in the room price listed online (before you go through the steps of booking), ie, a preferred room at ASMo is $94/nt in value season before taxes; AAA price is $75.20/nt. I don't know if the tax is calculated before or after the discount, but AAA will save you $131.60 on a 7 nt stay at ASMo, before taxes; obviously 20% off a moderate would be a greater savings.

I bought AAA for room discounts and surprised myself on how much I use it for other things. It is well worth it. :thumbsup2

On another note, a CM called me yesterday about my ressie. I asked her if she knew what discounts if any were coming for the Fall. She volunteered I had no discounts or pins tied to my household, but to just be patient because she felt sure something would be offered. I jokingly said, free dining or 40% off pin would be nice. She said the 40% discount has been a mess. She said they have a team currently going through the discounted ressies verifying that pin codes are tied to the households. Free dining or the 40% would give me about the same discount, so I will take either ;)

I'm also hoping for free dining. I think that the free dining came open to the public last April. Here's hoping for free diningpixiedust:

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping, but is the season pass room discount a better deal if you have the DDE?

It depends on what level resort you're staying at, how many in your party, and how much you're planning to eat. If you're staying Value, the free dining is almost always a better deal unless you're going solo. If you're staying Deluxe and are only a party of two, for example, then the AP discount could quite possibly be the better deal.

For us, as a family of 5 who likes to eat...lol and we are staying in a moderate resort I think the free dining will end up being our best bet
Yes, most definitely, LOL... it does sound like free dining would work for you! We have APs and don't really need the tickets, so we'd get one day base *IF* it's offered and we're able to do that again. I figured that with the three of us (me, DS 13, and DD 4) free dining would cost us just about the same as an AP discount at a mod, but we'll have those three one day tickets left over to use another time -- so given a choice between free dining and a typical AP discount, we'll take free dining... I sure am hoping we get the choice, LOL. :rotfl:

After all this work I've done calculating what would save us the most money, I sure hope I get the chance to put my calculations to use, LOL.

if I did my calcs right the free dining plan , which would end on Sept 29th as that is the Saturday...would require us to spend another night at Disney which is doable as I'm still able to get quotes for that date but would end up being a total wash...our 40% discount and the dining plan literally are .76 difference then. :rotfl:
The only thing that would make it worth swtiching from the 40% to free dining is if they extended it into Oct and we didnt' have to change our travel dates. Then the free dining would save us an extra $300.

If I am not mistaken if you start your vacation at the free dining time it will go to went your vacation ends even if it beyond the date of when free dining end... I hope that makes sense...:confused3

Makes sense! But they will extend it your entire stay as long as you start your trip during the promo period. Our current hotel dates extend past the 40% but it was extended for all nights because our trip started during the correct timeframe.
HTH!

Just subbing to this thread...hubby and I talking about trying for a Disney trip this fall. Hoping I can get some kind of deal to further convince him :lmao:

At that rate is it worth having the AP if not for the room rate discount. Or do you go enough times to make it pay off? Sorry I hated accounting.

Well... we went in October for 8 days and in January for 8 days. So, I've already gotten my money's worth out of the AP, plus used it for room discounts both times. September/October will be a bonus if we're able to go. I also have the DDE card, and it's more than paid for itself already. If we can't get free dining we'll use that. I figure that if we stay Value then the free dining would save us a good bit of money, even with the DDE and an AP discount. But, at a Mod it's more of a toss up. It's close dollar wise, but we'd do more TS with free dining. Then again, no DDP would allow us more flexibility. Like I said, hopefully I get a choice! ;)
