September Free Dining question

Okay....I'm thinking of backing up and booking the September dates. It wasn't our favorite and ADRs will pretty much be null at this point so I'd probably stick with the QSDP and not upgrade.....BUT one question.

If I book today, and put down my deposit using my Disney Visa, and then the dates do get extended....will I need to put down another deposit to move dates or will it read that it was a Disney Visa that made the original reservation.

And second question, if we book at AOA (Pop doesn't have available dates unless we add a day?????) and then move to Pop if FDing is extended.....do we pay another deposit for the second room or how does that work?

No you would not have to put down a second deposit. And no you would not have to put down a second deposit for 2 rooms at Pop - as long as there are only 2 adults on the reservation for the 2 rooms, if there is a third adult it would automatically create a second reservation number and therefor would require the second deposit.

Thanks....we've actually had to put 2 deposits when we've booked 2 rooms at POP before and never had more than 2 adults (we just have a lot of kids) so that's why I asked .....even when it's been one reservation number.

Well, the CM that booked you didn't know what they were doing. With 2 connecting rooms on one reservation number you should only have been charged one $200 reservation fee. If this happens again, get their name and ask for a supervisor. I love Disney, but the lack of training and the turnover rate they have for phone CMs is pathetic.

You can always book pop with the extra night and then call back and drop the night you don't need. As long as your check in day is within the FD promo dates, you can take off any nights you don't want/need. This would save you from having to modify your resort should FD get extended and Pop be available for the later dates you really want .

Yea, it's kind of strange that they have availability for 8 days/7 nights but not 7 days/6 nights LOL

I agree it's strange and I'm not sure why it works that way, but I have seen that happen quite often. Sometimes you will find availability when you add a night or two at the beginning and/or end of the dates you want when it doesn't show available for the shorter stay.

I ended up just booking AOA and will move to the POP if they extend free dining. The rooms available by adding a night were preferred anyway, so if nothing else we'll just try AOA this year.

I am a bit confused though.....on prices. Of course you can't price out FDing for check in on the 29th (yet)....so I had to price out the resort rooms at POP then add 19.00 per day per 'adult' and 5.00 per day per child. That ended up being 600.00 total. Is that how you figure 'FDing' for that time frame?

AOA has always been more expensive than 2 rooms at POP for us.....but for September dates it's closer than it's ever been....I'm worried I did something wrong and keep checking and rechecking.

September FDing 7d/6nights Sunday-Saturday:
POP: No availability for our dates but adding a day = 3951.04 with upgraded dining
AOA: 3929.56 with upgraded DDP
Wilderness Cabins: 3647.64

Extended FDing Rumor 7d/6 nights Sunday-Saturday:
POP: 3874.00 with upgraded DDP
AOA: 4226.20 with upgraded DDP (3626.20 and then I added 600.00)
Wilderness Cabins: 4170.60

See how big a difference the price is in October between POP and AOA.....now I'm wondering if I did something wrong when I booked/priced out September FDing.
