We are moving to NC in July and decided that we needed a HUGE break after organizing the buying of a house, selling of a house, and moving cross country. :faint: So, we were toying with the idea of spending 10 days or so at OKW with bookend days at HHI (one day at each end of trip). :cloud9: We are thrilled that we can drive down to WDW instead of hauling the kids plus their stuff on a full day flight!! :cool1:

Here's my question...
Is this a busy time to book? Do you think we will have a hard time booking a 1br at OKW and studios at HHI only 3 months out??

I'm going to test the waters tomorrow with MS, but I thought I'd get some input from all of you first. We usually go to WDW in January, so September is new to us!!

Thanks!!

Hey!

We have never been in Sept., but I understand that with school just back in, WDW in general isnt crowded. So with that in mind, plus it still being hot, you shouldnt have much problem with booking.

Welcome to NC soon! I have lived here all my life and like it very much. The people are friendly, the seasons are varied and best of all, it isnt far from WDW! We live in Burlington, just off I-85-40. We are centrally located, with about a 10 hr drive to WDW. It can be easily made in a day. We usually leave 3am and pull into a DVC resort by 12:30-1:00 pm.

Good luck with the move and the ressies!

winjos - Where in NC are you moving to?

JT - What route do you take? 40 to 95? or 85 to 77 to 26 to 95?

We always go the 85-77-26-95-4 route. Sounds longer but its actually about 45 mins. shorter. We drove back the 4-95-40 route once. Never again :sad2:

I booked at 2BR at OKW about 10 days ago and it seemed they had plenty of availability. I can't comment on HHI at all, but my guess is there are probably 1 BRs available in Sept.

You shouldn't have a problem. Sept. is a nice time to go. Not too crowded. :flower:

:hourglass 19 days till we go home to OKW

September is usually pretty easy to book at WDW. I'm not sure about HHI.

We are moving to Cary, NC. We are excited!! I'm a native Californian (3rd generation!!), so moving to the east coast will be an adventure! I'm a little nervous about the humidity though.

Of course we are moving the end of July/beginning of August in order to have great stories about moving during the heat and humidity! :rotfl2:

We liked NC so much, we talked my Mom into moving with us to Cary and my DH's parents into moving to Asheville.

Thanks for the info on September!

You'll be very close to RDU and can take advantage of SW direct flights.

Your in-laws will love Asheville. Biltmore Esatate is cool. Lots of B&B's and Inns in that area....Grove Park, Richmond Hill Inn are two very nice ones.

We are going from Sept.11-23, at OKW. The first 4 nights in a one bedroom the rest in a two. Since we have to change rooms anyway, I just called. We got a BWV Boardwalk view. They also still had one bedrooms at BCV. I don't think it will be too hard to book your rooms.

We are going September 9-15. We were originally going September 2-9 but had to change plans LAST WEEK. We thought we might have a problem getting at BCV so close to the trip but we were able to get a studio for the Sun-Thurs no problem and we were put on the wait list for Fri and Sat. DVC called back later that day and said we could have the Fri and Sat nights as well (we had booked the rooms with a member discount - and we kept one of the rooms on cash to conserve points).

Anyway, should not be a problem and if you don't have a hurricane, September is a GREAT time to go!

Thanks for the replies!!

Booked studio @ HHI, 1 br @ OKW (10 glorious days), & 1br @ HHI the last two weeks of September. We are on the waitlist for a studio @ HHI our last day of vacation. We can't wait!!

We did have to give up our 1br @ BWV for the week of Dec. 4 (5 nights). Bummed that we won't get to see the decorations, but that's the glory of owning DVC - ample of opportunities in the future! ::yes::

DH needs to find a job in NC and a Dec. vacation may be hard to pull off! :earseek:

Thanks again for your help!!
