There is a plan in the works for me to spring my second trip to WDW in September instead of October as I had originally planned. Partly because of an awesome pin code making it possible for me to see the Savanna rooms at AKL.

I've only been to WDW during May and October so far, and both were fairly toasty with lukewarm to chilly evenings (I remember wishing I brought my coat every night in October, brrr) so I really would love to know how the weather typically holds out for the World and all it brings.

That, and how are the crowd levels around the 15-30th? I don't have set dates yet, but aiming for 3-5 days during the week to avoid weekend crowds, and room costs per night.

The more information y'all can spring on me, the more I'll be able to relay to my Mom, who I'm hoping I can treat to with the trip! :cheer2:

First, I would recommend you look at easywdw.com. There is a wealth of information there about when to stay.

We went this Sept and it was hot. We were there the 20th - 28th. We ended up with a good deal of rain which cooled things off but we were still comfortable in shorts and tee shirts.

I would also consider when Food and Wine starts if you want to attend or miss those crowds.

My semi-picked out dates are September 25-30th, or 24-29th. This way we'll get two or three days of F&W. My Mom's a massive foodie- there's no way she'd forgive me if we DIDN'T get at least one day of munching around the world!

How hot, if you don't mind me asking? We don't really get crazy wicked heat in PA- maybe a heat wave for a day or two, but then it breaks. I don't mind the heat, in fact I live for it, but my mother with her heart condition needs to watch overheating, which is why I ask about it. Not that we won't plan for it, just better to know HOW hot it is going in. And how much it rains.

DH and I love going in Sept., we even got married there in Sept. We really enjoy that time of year. The weather is still hot but it doesn't seem as humid or unbearable as in July and August. Although it rains, it's usually for an hour or so in the afternoon and then the sun comes out again. As for the crowds, its a great time to go. We rarely have long waits even for the most popular rides.

We have gone the last two Septembers and imo, it's still quite hot and humid. IIRC, temps were in the high 80's for the day time temps. Not sure about the nights but I know we were out a lot at night, even late into the night, and I was never even close to being chilly. I definitely think the later you push your trip, the better for the heat. Our trips have been mid September. Also, we got almost daily rain in the afternoon or early evening.

Last September we quite rainy in the last week, but this was odd weather, it's usually a 3 o'clock rain shower, and sometimes these are so localised that one park will get it the others don't.

Temps in the mid to high 80's, humidity is high, but so many Air-conditioned spaces for relief from this.

Didn't need an outer layer at all for our whole trip, shorts and tees for two weeks...

We always go mid-September. High 80's, but with high humidity. It's sticky hot!
Mornings and evenings are much more pleasant. Pop up rain showers are common but typically don't last very long- usually only a few minutes to an hour. These cool things off nicely!

I went in Sept 2010 from the 18th-25th. The beginning of the week was really hot, in the low 90's. Then on Thursday it thunderstormed, and Friday was just miserable. The humidity was so bad that morning that I couldn't take pictures on my camera without the lens fogging up. lol. We stepped out of the hotel and within a few minutes were sweating like crazy. So, I think you still get that summer heat in September.

Crowds were pretty good. We didn't wait long for anything. We didn't hit the big rides because I had toddlers with us, but character lines, etc. weren't too bad. The most crowded I remember is when we did the MNSSHP, but I assume all of those are probably busy.

I've done three trips in September so far, and have another one planned for 2014 (feel free to check out the reports in my signautre for super detailed info!:))

Sept is a fantastic time to go!
Weather is hot, hot and humid. Expect rain for about 30 mins every second day or so. you might get none, you might get some everyday, it varies, but it's fine, people clear out of the parks, and you can throw on a poncho and go have fun! It is hot all day and into the night, be sure to have sunscreen and be drinking water, and taking advantage of that air conditioning. I personally love the heat, so it's my favorite!

Crowds are also amazing, I have noticed them pick up certain days, but rides are almost always walk ons still, and the wait times are never that bad! Things like main street area/hub get crowded during wishes, but thats about it

Try to make time to check out mickey's not so scary halloween party! It's HANDS DOWN my favorite thing about disney world, and definitely worth the cost!!

We love going in September. Definitely hot, humid, and sunny (besides the quick rain showers other people have mentioned) - I'd guess high 80's-mid 90's. I wear sundresses everyday and never need to put extra clothes on at night or anything. We've stopped packing our "just in case pants" since we've never needed them. I think the crowds are very manageable. Food & Wine gets a little crazy - and maybe we have an especially high tolerance for crowds, but I don't even think weekends are that bad. The lines move quickly and we rarely have trouble finding SOMEwhere to sit. One tip is to go the day before Food & Wine officially opens - all the vendors are open by mid-afternoon.
