September Decisions for MSEP & Wishes

Hi All! I haven't been on these boards in 4 years, that's when I was trying to plan an adult-only vacation to Disney (these boards helped so much!) Now I'm bringing my family that includes my DW, DS8 and DD2 for their first ever trip to Disney from September 20th through the 29th for 8 magical days!

We are hitting MNSSHP on Sept. 28th to close down our vacation with a not-so-scary-BANG... we are really looking forward to this event with it's unique parade and fireworks! But I also wanted to show the kids the MSEP and Wishes (my MK favorites!) and wanted some help deciding which was the best night of the week to attend.

We have the choice of Tuesday the 23rd or Wednesday the 24th. Tuesday is a higher-crowd day (Evening EMH that night) with 2 showings of MSEP at 8p/10p with Wishes at 9p. Wednesday is a low-crowd day with only one showing of MSEP at 8pm and Wishes at 9pm.

My original plan was to go for Wednesday night, but now I'm thinking about how difficult it may be to get a view (especially with DD2) with only one showtime, and perhaps Tuesday (with 2 showings) may be a better option. Hopefully that week will be low-crowd anyways and it won't make that much difference, but I was wondering if any of have any insight on this?

In general, I'd expect MK to add hours and events as the actual dates get closer.

That has been the case every month for years and years.


Just keep checking and re-checking.

Hmmm, didn't think about that. That would be great!

Everyone says to stay away from MK on EMH days, is this true? We are night owls and I know my DD2 wouldn't mind the extra hours at the park on that Tuesday... after multiple naps of course.

I am also interested to hear some answers as we will be in MK around these dates too! Although, I think you mean Monday the 22nd and Wednesday the 24th for MSEP/Wishes. Tuesday the 23rd is MNSSHP night (we are going that night)! They just extended the hours and added the extra MSEP Mon & one on Wed....

We're there that week as well, and I'm planning for MSEP & Wishes on Wed the 24th. I know my kids would never make it to a 10pm parade, even with an afternoon nap, but if yours will that's probably your best bet. Generally speaking, on nights with two parades/shows, the later one is less crowded as most families see the earlier one and then leave the park. You could also probably get some rides in with minimal waits during the earlier parade.

I'm going to assume you mean Monday the 22nd rather than Tuesday the 23rd and I would recommend Wednesday, based on easyWDW's explanation. ?According to Josh (the guy who writes easyWDW), Monday is going to busier due to EMH, the longer hours and the fact that a lot of people travel on the weekends and want to start their trip at MK.

Tuesday 9/23 is a MNSSHP party night. They close at 7

We'll be there those nights! 19-27! Woohoo!

We're going to take the kids to the parade on Saturday and Thursdays nights, because like you said. It'll be easier with there being a second parade. We'll also be there on Monday night kidfree!

Have you considered FP? Personally I prefer HalloWishes and the Boo to You parade during the party. From what I've read if you book FPs for MSEP, it's also a good spot to watch Wishes from.
