September Check-in - September has Arrived!

Hi! I'm planning a trip in September. Not completely committed to dates yet. Planning to be in the parks Monday-Thursday-ish. We have a family suite booked at the Carousel Inn and Suites, but I'm still looking around. The only dates I could get the family suite there were Sept. 1-5. I'm on the fence and looking for feedback.

This will be my and DH's first trip since our honeymoon in October 2005. We are super excited to bring our two year old twin girls on their first trip! So my indecision about the dates and hotel are this: I really want a separate room for the girls so we can at least sit up and read or watch tv after they go to bed. Also, they tend to sleep better when we're not right there. I know that attractions are more likely to be closed right after Labour Day. However, I also don't expect to ride everything because we have two toddlers and we will be moving at their speed. I think I would rather have lesser crowds and deal with any closures or shorter park hours. Thoughts on this?

I am so happy:rotfl:! Yesterday I booked a trip for September 13-15. My brother and I are returning for a quick trip with the great Dapper Day discounts and to use the APs we got in February for DD and our December family reunion trip. We are staying at the GCH again which was so much fun in Feb. Thanks for starting this thread Kaci!

Welcome! I've added you to the first post :goodvibes

Howdy :) I'm with you on low crowds being my highest priority. Extended hours don't mean that much to me because my kids are getting tired (read = cranky and miserable to be around) by 7ish after the amount of exertion and stimulation a day in the parks brings.

I'm not really very familiar with the hotel options that have multiple rooms, other than the Hojo kids suites that get pretty rave reviews, I will say that my kids - who are usually not great sleepers - were sacked.out. every night after a day in the park. But you know your girls' needs best! :goodvibes

Welcome!

There is HEAPS of accommodation around DLR with kids suites, so that in itself shouldn't restrict you to Carousel Inn if you'd like different dates. I suspect there will be residual crowds from the Labor Day long weekend hanging around on the Monday and possibly Tuesday, but it should quiet down considerably each day and be back to normal off season crowds by Wednesday.

Please keep in mind that at that time of year, DLR only do their night time shows on weekends (apart from World of Color, which seems to still be on every night). If you want to see the fireworks or Fantasmic! (highly recommend both), you will need to include at least one Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.

I'm totally with you on the crowds thing though. I would always prefer low crowds and shorter hours/possible refurbs. There's so much to do at DLR, you won't miss any refurbs anyway :thumbsup2

I know Carousel isn't my only option for kids suites, but we're getting close enough they're getting harder to find. Our original plan was to go in November but I didn't want to have to work around holiday weekends. Obviously that turned out well as now I'm planning for over Labour Day! At least it's one less vacation day to burn!

I'm not too worried about the nighttime show. Our girls are usually in bed between 6:30 and 7. The longest I expect to be able to stretch that is maybe being out to 7:30 but that's iffy after a busy day. They do like their sleep. That's why I'm not stressing too much about a few (or more) things being closed. DH and I know this is going to be trip run by their schedule.

A friend brought back Minnie Mouse stuffed toys when the girls were 3 months old. They have been on a shelf in their room and every now and then they would point out Minnie's shoes. Tonight at bedtime I gave them the toys and they're in love. They each had to have Minnie for their bedtime story, kissed her on the nose repeatedly and went to bed hugging her.

Hi all!! Well I have just booked our flights and we will be in Disneyland from 7 to 20 September!
I will be travelling with my DH, DD11, DD7, DD3 and my niece who is 15 all the way from Brisbane, Australia. We will be meeting up with my best friend and her girls (11, 7 and 2) who live in Washington. I had trips to Disneyland in 1995 and 1996, then we have had family trips in 2007 and 2013. We did WDW in 2011 and New York and Canada in 2009. We love the convenience of everything being so close at DLR.

Planning on all of us staying together either at Carousel Inn and Suites or Desert Inn and Suites. Any reviews on either of those would be great!

We'll be there September 17-20, definitely Ramada Maingate!! We might switch to 24-27; but, I hope to avoid the Halloween parties (not our thing). We aren't renewing our APs, as a trip to Aulani in 2015 will replace 2 DLR trips, so this will be our last trip to DL until Spring 2016.

We went for one day last year {just DLR} in September and had a great time! It was a last minute decision and squeezed it in since we were in CA.

Now, we are going again, Sept 7-10, staying at either DLH or GC. My lo will be 3 at the end of October.

SOOOOO EXCITED!!! Just reserved room and booked flights! Going Sept 14th-17th! Staying at the Disneyland Hotel!!! First time ever to stay on site!!:cool1::cool1: Going with my BFF, we are celebrating my birthday!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

Another September birthday! What date is yours? Very jealous that you get to celebrate at the DLH!

I've booked my family (me, dh, dd15, ds14, ds13, dd10)into GCH using DVC points (through David's) from 6 -8 September. Our second trip to DLP :cool1:

I just booked our second Disneyland family trip for Sept 7-13! We are going to celebrate my son's 5th birthday (on the 10th) as well as the awesome Dapper Day event. We are staying at DLH. This will also be our first trip with our new baby, who will be 7 months. Should be interesting and of course a ton of fun!

We'll be there Sept 10-14. My DH and I are spending Sept 7-10th in San Francisco for a conference for my work and then heading to Disneyland for the first time ever(I went when I was 6 but don't remember it at all)! We're staying at the Disneyland Hotel! Can Not Wait!

Shall we do a getting to know you portion of the thread?

My name is Kaci (I lack creativity and I'm apparently not overly concerned about my anonymity on the internet  ) DH and our two kids (DS 4.5 and DD 2.5 at the time) went to DLR for the first time in 12/12. This will be our second trip and this time we're roadtripping! After a week in DLR we're heading down to San Diego for a week to check out the zoo, museums, beaches, and most importantly some really good Mexican food!

Here we are in 2012

hi Kaci, we have the same plan we will be at DLR Sept 2-6 and head down to San Diego Sept 6-9.

we have been to WDW about 8 times and DLR once in 2012. This will be our second trip to DLR with both our boys and we are really excited about cars land. We originally planned a WDW trip but decided to switch it up for the west coast.

Cant wait DH can not wait to eat at all his favorite foodie spots in San Diego and I'm ready to spend some time on the beach. With two boys (2 & 3) it wont be relaxing but it will be fun. :)

Dcraythron ~ looks like we are about the only "older" folks in the crowd so far.

DH and I (mid 50's) will be visiting in September (14~17) for our first time. We are WDW vets. We will be taking a 9-day tour of the West Coast :drive:from San Francisco to Los Angeles and I couldn't NOT visit Disneyland since we are going to be that close.

We are staying off-site (Anaheim Islander) since we'll only be there for a few days.

Can't wait to see where it all started!!! :yay:

Kaci, please add us to the list.

Hi, my name is Debbie and we, meaning my DH and I will be staying at the Best Western Stovall during the last 2 weeks of Sept. We normally always go in Sept. But, last year decided for November. It was fun either way. This is like my 9th trip to DL. My first trip was in 2007 and now I can't get enough. I will only have to go 3 months to get my Sept fix as I will be there for a week in May to celeabrate my DH's 60th birthday and our anniversary.

tinkerella...I am in that age group too!! Going to celebrate my 49th Birthday with my BFF! I love going on adult only trips....:thumbsup2

We are going Sept 18-23!

Large extended family group. There will be 12 of us staying at GCH!! Stayed there back in 2010 and loved it!

Pattyduke34 ~ it's great to see that we aren't the only adults that like to visit the Disney parks without children!!!! Hope you have a wonderful trip.

Hi everyone! My husband and I are coming September 11-13th for Dapper Day and to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary

We'll be at the Disneyland Hotel which will be our first time not only travelling without our kids, but also our first time doing Dapper Day and first time staying at a Disney hotel so I'm very excited!
