September bugs

I'm in the process of planning a trip to Disney this fall for me, DH, and DS4. We were originally planning on going Oct 13-20 with my SIL and her family (it's the only week they can go) but I just checked prices and with free dining (if offered), hotel and airfare it would be about $2,200 less to go in Sept. I've been hearing about the luv bugs in September, are they really that bad? FYI, I REALLY HATE bugs, I have a phobia about them and get completely freaked out. Should I not go then because of it? Also would the heat be too much for a 4 year old? I'm also going to check mid november prices (my sister is getting married on the 3rd so I'll have to go after that). I know November weather is perfect, hopefully the prices are, I don't mind eating mostly counter service either to save $$, my son doesn't have too much patience for sit down places anyway.

If you dislike bugs that much I don't think you will like them. They are everywhere! We went in September last year and I will make it a point to probably never go again during that time. I have pics of one of my daughters napping at the pool and she is covered in them. They get splattered on the rides and then get on your clothes. Of course the don't hurt you but I found them to be a real nuisance. Maybe last year was especially bad, I don't know. As far as the heat for your 4 yr old-I don't think that it is too bad.

If you are freaked out from bugs I would for sure NOT go during that time. It is very strange, they would not be by some rides and others would have TONS all over them. Around the pool was the worst, our stroller was covered!! Once you got int he water you were fine though.

Thanks! I've decided not go to during that time. It's not worth the money saved to be covered in bugs. We're going to stick with October 13th-20th although it looks like I may need to do the 14th - 21st since the standard view room in the YC isn't available the 13-20th. My SIL will be happy we're still going during their week.
