September 3, 2005 --- Who is going?

Lisa, I'm not having packing issues as I haven't done any yet, this is going to be a busy week, just trying to get thru today so tomorrow I can get moving on our vacation.

ITDJBW....

We're virtually in the same boat (pardon the pun) as we've just barely started packing. Tomorrow is going to be a big packing day I imagine.

So our answers to the questions posed : (I'll get the spouses' later on):

#1 I would board the Magic in Europe - say Day 1 Istanbul... cruise the agean sea - stop day 2 Mykonos and near Athens day 3, press on the Venice day 4, ROme (civie) day 5, then pause somewhere on the french riviera day 6, hit Barcelona day 7... then I'd want to stop in Morocco day 8 just so we could say the sailing hit another continent.... then press on to the UK day 9 (Dover for a day train to London to catch a play - hold the ship til 11PM and host a midnite buffett in all the dining venues!).. then press on to NYC with warp speed in 3 days... then hit castaway caye and dock somewhere near by like Miami on the 14th day.

#2 The first time we were sailing away on the Magic 2 years ago - they had the embarkation party going - the ship was moving - and as we were on the upper deck we were carrying Julianna (age 2.5) and she saw Mickey Mouse dancing on the center stage and she started screaming and waving her arms wildly and jumping up and down with tremendous energy! My wife and I paused and just smiled at each other and I thouht this was simply WONDERFUL! / My 2nd favorite moment on DCL was when we were riding the mid ship elevator up to the uper deck to wait for a character photo opp and enroute MICKEY got in to ride with us. Our 2.5 year old daughter again got excited and then abruptly paused to stare in wonder with a HUGE SMILE as she reached out gently to touch Micky's ears!

#3 I think I'd like to be honorary captain and offical sidekick of the Magic's captain... that way I could ride the Magic for a year and NOT have too many serious responsibilities! Of course - as honorary captain I would get the Walt suite for my family for the year! :teeth:

#4 And as for pet - we have a 105 pound Samoyed named SUGAR - he steals lots of sweet things. Digs into my spouses' purses and shoulder totes looking just for candy rather then cookies. And most psychotic thing he's done - in the first few days we had him - overnite he knocked over a baby gate and went rolling around in the fireplace. Imagine - a 100+ pound white dog covered with dirth ashes. What could have possessed him? :earseek:

Our answers...

If you were able to Choose where the Magic would sail (with your family + 100 guests - all free) for say 14 days ... where would you send it.
(Me) I agree with Mary, Hawaii would be great!
(DH - Steve) Southern Caribbean

2) What's been your most memorable past experience(s) or moment(s) on a DCL cruise?
(Me)Barefoot catamaran snorkling trip in St. Thomas - it was wonderful
(DH) same answer as my DW.

3) If you could have any "job" for 1 year in the world - and be free to return to your present responsibilites afterwars if you wanted them... what job would you want?
(Me)A hotel/beach critic... you know, the hotels PAY you to come critique their hotel and beach (I don't even know if it exists, but I would love to start a business like that1). And I totally would not be coming back to my present responsibilities :)
(DH) Fiction Novel writer

4) Do you have any pets? What are they and what do you recollect was the most psychotic thing your pet has ever done?
Yes, dog, cat, fish, hamster. Dog :dog2: chewed up our son's $300 mouthguard (and this was just two weeks ago! Ahhhh!)

1) Hawaii

2) This is my first DCL cruise, so the most memorable experiences on previous cruises were:

a) Watching glaciers fall into the bay in Alaska

b) Shortly after 9/11, watching a very talented fellow cruise passenger "take over" a karaoke show and turn well known tunes into patriotic verses--and getting EVERYONE on their feet to sing along. It was unique, amazing, and I think good for everyone considering the time.

c) Cruising out of NYC to Bermuda

3) I'm very lucky since that is the job I have now :) ...when we meet, I'll tell you what I do (or you can PM me and I will tell you).

4) We adopted a Lhasa Apso puppy (Tucker), with a crippled leg and bad heart many years ago. When he travels with us, he loves to jump onto the area in a car that is just above and behind the back seat, and squish his face to the rear window as best he can to see the car behind him. He kept doing this until one day he jumped up from the seat, expecting to find an area to land on, and then had an unexpected surprise. We heard a "thump".

It was his first ride in our minivan and he jumped from the 2nd row...we couldn't stop laughing (and, yes, he was fine).

I love doing these types of questions.

1. I would like to cruise in Europe like captain. Actually, after looking at his itinerary(sp?) I think I would like to go on exactly the same cruise that he has prepared.

2. (1)We have only been on one DCL cruise, and I would think my most memorable moment was getting out early to Castaway Cay with my DH and watching the kids play in the sand. My DS 8 says it is his favorite place in the world.

(2)One of my most memorable moments at Disney World was when we took the boys to the Halloween Party at the MK in 2001. Brady was a baby and dressed as Bumblebee Pooh. Then we go to see Pooh and to our surprise he is in a bumblebee suit as well. Pooh made such a big deal out of it and we ended up with a wonderful picture of Brady staring intently at him.

(3) One of my other favorite moments at Disney World was when Tyler was about 3. I remember riding Dumbo first thing in the morning with him. While in the air, he just started smiling and stretched out his arms and tilted his head back like he was flying. Just the pure happiness on his face was priceless.

3. As far as the job goes, I think I would like to be a travel/hotel/beach critic or reporter similar to clonefans

4. We have two dogs. Chandler is our almost 10year old Yorkie, and Sydney is our 5 month old Yorkie. Psychotic behavior of our dogs is the norm so it is hard to really pick one thing. Chandler likes to go absolutely nuts anytime anyone exits our house or even picks up their keys like they might. Sydney likes to jump off our king size bed and land on Chandler head while he is innocently sitting on the floor.

Mary, I think it is hilarious that you jumped into the pool fully clothed. You sound like the life of the party. :cheer2: (I tried to find an alcoholic smiley but couldn't find one)

Tucker99, look for a PM from me because now I am dying to know what you do for a living.

We will be sailing away in one week!

I thought I would have left 90 minutes ago - my spouse is still getting ready. We're NOW anbout to go and I just had to chime in.... the area of observation still has to develope further - it's a 36 hour watch thing - then it has to pick a path that crosses our embarkation on exactly the day we're scheduled. HIGHLY UNLIKELY for saturday in Port Canaveral. This would be two years in a row for the exact same date and place to make landfall.... the odds are absolutely incredible by my book... so I step forward towards the aircraft door fearless with no expectation of embarkation disruption! LOL!

If we get embarkation moved a 2nd year (this year) I will also jump into the same pool fully clothed at the conclusion of our DIS embarkation party or at the treasure hunt - with loudest chanting contingent determining when they get me to jump in! pirate: ... and just for good measure I'll drag in MARY too... since she's had a little practice she can give me some pointers on how to extricate myself from the pool with a minimum of fuss!

Looks like my spouse is still getting ready - I better go see if she is actually ready or not. LOL! :earboy2:

.... WOW ... my spouse is actually ready to go - now I gotta git going.... :earseek:

IMHO I wouldn't think it impact our embarkation. It seems too far out for 7 days.

Should we have recieved some type of customs forms? I remember last year when we sailed, I had to fill out last minute forms or something at Port Everglades on a long table. It wasn't part of the document booklet we recieved. Does anyone know?

Wendy

I bet thats what is was! I knew I had filled something out! I guess you only get that when you sail to Nassau huh? :rotfl: Thanks!

Lisa:

You should have gotten them in your docs. They have to be filled out for CC.

Wendy

Mary...Prayers and Pixie dust, you will feel better.

I ask for the same for my nephew Kyle. My sister had to take him to the Dr. this AM with a fever. They went to Dr. and have medicine!!

No news here in Jax from the storm. The tropics look good, and no one seems to be forcasting anything developing as of now. And you know that if there was even the slightest lillte ripple they would be playing it up on the news. I guess after last year they are justified, but it sure gets old!!

Packing issues, not really since nothing has actually gone 'in" the suitcases yet. However I am in laundry hell!! I really hate doing laundry and think disposible clothes would be a great idea. :goodvibes

T shirt are all dyed. And I only have 2 fingers that are permanantly purple!! Not too bad I guess. I can't wait til the AM when I can cut off the rubber bands and see how they came out!

I have to check back for the questions, but I LOVE Nora Roberts!! I think one of my favorite triolgies are the "Born In" ones. This reminds me that I must go to the book store and get a couple of good books for the cruise.

I cannot believe that it is finally almost here!! My kids and DH are going to drive me crazy this week. OK, crazier I guess would be more accurate!! DH came home today with a bag and refused to let anyone see its contents! I have a feeling it may be a bit pirate: . I guess I'll have to wait and see. I will just pretend he is not mine if it is too outrageous!!

We are thinking and praying for everyone who will soon be departing their homes and traveling this way. Be careful and safe. See you all very soon.

No all I got were the document books, the Magic book and what you can buy pamphlets.

Suzanne,

We have yet another thing in common. Nora Roberts is my favorite, and I love Born In Ice. Grayson was so nice and romantic. I need to go get a book for the trip. Any of you Nora Roberts fans have suggestions for me?

We don't have any packing issues as of yet since we haven't packed anything. We celebrated my birthday early today at my parent's house and my mom included with my presents all of the little things I need for the trip. Stuff like Tylenol, suntan lotion, new sunglasses, and other types of things I was getting ready to have to go buy in small sizes. Yeah Mom! :cool1:

One week from today and I will be relaxing on the open seas. If by some chance we don't embark in Port Canaveral, I will be cheering the captain and Mary on as they jump into the pool fully clothed. :cheer2:

Here are my answers....

1. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? - I'd love to visit the islands in the s caribbean, Ireland, Scotland and England...maybe Norway too.

2. If you had a million dollars, what would you do? - invest the money, use part to pay off our bills, take some photography classes, and travel (while taking pictures)... I'd love to open a hot dog stand on the beach (or something like that).

3. What is your all time favorite movie? I don't really have an all-time favorite movie. There are a number of movies that I could watch repeatedly, but no one favorite movie.

4. What is your favorite TV Show? No favorite TV show, but I love watching Veronica Mars, Lost, House, Medium, Gilmore Girls, and miss BtVS and Angel. Love to watch Food TV and think the Barefoot Contessa and Paula Deen are amazing.

5. What type of books do you like to read? I'll read just about anything...romance, suspense, mysteries and usually have several books going at once.

I'm off to read some more posts....

What would you choose if:

:flower: 1) If you were able to Choose where the Magic would sail (with your family + 100 guests - all free) for say 14 days ... where would you send it. Anguilla, Aruba, Bonaire, etc....just sail south and stay in the sunshine.

 2) What's been your most memorable past experience(s) or moment(s) on a DCL cruise?
(1) The first time I heard the horn play "When you wish upon a Star" and (2) being on the Magic for 10 days (with my hubby and our friends...who are on the repo cruise right now...we had a blast!!)

:groom: 3) If you could have any "job" for 1 year in the world - and be free to return to your present responsibilites afterwards if you wanted them... what job would you want? That Samantha Brown chick on the Travel Channel seems to have a pretty sweet job...reviewing various restaurants, spas, and travel destinations...I'd sign up for that job.

;) 4) Do you have any pets? What are they and what do you recollect was the most psychotic thing your pet has ever done? We have two ferrets who are super cute. They do psychotic things every day! They are both very smart and definitely have a way of making their wishes known. For example, we make sure they use their litter box before they come out to play...well Daisy didn't go, so I told her she'd have to stay until she went to the bathroom...she backed her little heinie up and stared straight at me, while she squatted and used the bathroom....directly in front of and outside of the litter box.

Books -- I love to read Nora Roberts, Janet Evanovich, Diane Mott Davidson, Sophie Kinsella, JK Rowling, Carly Phillips, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Heather Graham, Madeline Hunter, Clive Cussler, and just about anything else I can get my hands on. I have a stack of books to take on the Ship and I've been able to hold off reading the new HP book, so that's on the list to read. The pool, a frothy drink and a good book.... who knew that heaven looked alot like the adult pool on the Magic?!?

I'm off to read more posts...
