September 3, 2005 --- Who is going?

DisneyFanForever... I just got my shipment from Oriental Trading Company. I have 48 eye patches. I think I'll have a few extra! How many do you need? And for anyone else, first ones to ask at the meet and greet on Saturday will get them free of charge! I also have about 3 dozen tattoos to share.

I'm taking tomorrow off for a mental health day. I think I'll hit Party City with the kids to help me pick out a pirate costume. What the heck!

I've got the nametags ready to print. I've noticed a few new members. I'll PM you to get your info.

I should warn my boss that I'm going to be totally useless at work the next 2 weeks!

Hope you get your docs soon Captain!

Frank

:cheer2: Thanks everyone for all your cool info and help. I'm feeling much more relaxed about the whole thing

Captain - The Magic sails on Saturday from LA. Sorry if I made you think it was today. I totally understand not wanting to explain to a little one why she's not on the ship as it sails.

OK 5 things about my DH (who isn't here to defend himself)!

1. The love of his life (besides me of course) is Street Rods and racing. He loves anything that he can make go faster!

2. We've know each other since I was in 6th grade - I don't want to say how long ago that was!! He was a friend of my older brother and used to hang out at our house alot. It was NOT love at first sight. I was Bob's yucky little sister princess:

3. He worked for a long time keeping big government secrets - I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you - sort of thing. They were mostly about airplanes. Now he works as a computer tech for a company called ADP.

4. He is definately the extroverted one in the family. He keeps me and everyone around him laughing :rotfl:

5. He has an amazing collection of Hawaiin Shirts. He loves them. The louder the better - but tasteful - no naked ladies or anything. In fact I can just about guarantee that he will be wearing one when we board the ship.

I'll throw in an extra one: He's not a huge Disney fan, but he loves me and his kids so he is REALLY excited about this cruise! Having been on the ship for a tour really helped convince him how nice it would be. :love2:

I have a reminder on my calendar to call the concierge first thing Monday morning. I was going to ask her what movies will be playing. I'll also confirm the dining and show schedules.

This is what I've gathered from Eastern Navigators from last spring:

Saturday - Rotational Dining (Casual), "Welcome Aboard Variety Show"
Sunday - Rotational Dining (Semi-Formal), "The Golden Mickeys"
Monday - Rotational Dining (Casual), "Twice Charmed"
Tuesday - Pirate Night, "Pirates In The Caribbean" menu in all restaurants (Tropical / Pirate Dress), no show in the main theatre, Pirate Party 9:45
Wednesday - “Around the World” menu in all restaurants (Casual), “Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer” show in the Walt Disney Theatre.
Thursday – “Captain’s Gala” menu in all restaurants (Formal), “Disney Dreams” in the Walt Theatre
Friday – “Best of” menu in all restaurants (Casual), “Farewell Variety Show” in the Walt Theatre.

Character breakfasts on sea days.

I’ve also put a word doc together with the latest menus I could find. PM me with your e-mail address if you’d like a copy.

Do you think I'm ready???

Frank

Pooter - and what's wrong with Hawaiin shirts? I have quite a collection as well. I love to wear them to work. Reminds me of vacations! I really like to find matching ones for my DSs. I'm actually planning on hitting the Tommy Bahama store at the outlet mall before we sail. But please don't tell my wife! :rolleyes1

You cannot rent jet skis at CC just to skim around the water. There is a "Personal Watercraft Eco Tour" excursion for $95 per person or $180 (I think) for a double (driver and passenger). This is an organized jet ski (wave runner) tour that is guided single-file on the route (two CMs, one at the front of the group and one at the back). They definitely move the group across the water (full throttle is best, provides the smoothest ride - no joke). The group is taken out about 2 miles to a sandbar where the CMs give a little "Eco" presentation, and then the group is brought back in. I've heard that there have been some deviations from the route on some of the excursions, but what I've described is what happened on the excursion I took in July. Neither did they allow us any "personal play time" on the wave runners. It was a totally controlled and totally safe environment.

I'm scheduled to do it again this cruise, 'cuz it was fun! The tour heads out past the ship and there are some good photo ops for pictures of the Magic docked. Strongly recommend a water or sports camera (disposable?) as anything you take with you on the wave runner will most likely get very wet from the spray. I got totally soaked and it was a real challenge trying to keep my sunglasses clear so I could see where I was going!

Hope this helps.

Do you know how many kids we have that are part of our DISer group? And ages?

All with kids
Since we adults are getting together, should we do something for the kids? Maybe a pirate "treasure hunt"? Or????? Or is it a bad idea? Or maybe we'll all be too busy? Opinions?

5 things about me:

1. I love being a Mom to Kiana 10 and Kevie 4

2. I will be celebrating my 13th wedding anniversary on Sept 5 without hubby. (too many holidays already for him this year) I'm bringing my cousin Sheena instead.

3. I have OCD when it comes to travelling. I've always got something in the works and trips planned. I travel with my "BOOK" which hubby makes fun of. I just think I'm VERY well organized.

4. I was born in Germany and lived in Canada since I was 4. My Dad was in the military so we've lived in many different Provinces.

5. It gets pretty cold in Edmonton in the winter. On our first cruise in March 2003, we got home to the airport and the car would not start because the temp. was -42Cel. with the wind chill. So cold our snow squeaks.

I can't wait until the cruise. We leave in the evening on the 28th and are staying at BCV until the cruise. Anyone ever stay there? Any insider tips that I could add to my "BOOK" would be appreciated!!

Wendy

Lisa: PM me at janziegler@aol.com and I will send you the "List".

Things about my DH:

1. He is very outgoing and loves to talk, talk, talk.

2. He loves food; he can still remember certain meals when he was in the Navy 35 years ago stationed in Sicily.

3. He loves to fish. He is booked on the bottom fishing excursion at CC.

4. He loves all things Disney -- especially the Magic and Wonder. His attitude is that the ship doesn't have to go anywhere, just get the food ready, open the bar, and turn on the music.

5. Most of all, he loves his family. His grandchildren are the light of his life.

Yes, keeping the kids busy is a great idea! Treasure hunt would be fun! I also have an idea that I found on a party website, It seems like an easy ice breaker. Let me know what you think...
Tape pictures of something Disney ::MickeyMo (characters, cruise ship, Castaway Cay, etc) to each childs back. Then they may ask each other Yes/No questions about what they are (but no one can tell them directly, nor can they ask anything but Yes/No questions). For example they can ask "Am I an animal? Am I an object? Am I green?" . At some point each kid can take a turn saying what they think they are. We could give them small treats or surprises?

I think both of your ideas are great.

The Disney pictures on the back of the kids sounds fun and a good way to get them interacting.

The treasure hunt sounds lots of fun also. Maybe we could do it on a sea day when we know everyone will be onboard. Any ideas how to do it?

We're game for both ideas. Just let me know if you need me to do anything to help.

Robyn

OK....

Our local party city has sold out of kids pirate costumes (clearance or regular priced) - but they said the chain was clearancing old stock out. So tomorrow my spouse will be near another Party City and will check over there. After that we're back to fishing for ideas. I think we barely have enough time for ebay or online. I'll start nosing around there.

On the kids' things to do - I'd like to volunteer to contribute too... :grouphug: only I don't know what needs doing right now. If I think of anything I'll post the concept - perhaps I should ask my spouse or the teachers at Julianna's school. Anyways - I like the treasure hunt idea but will this be too simple for the older kids? And I imagine we should take a closer look at what our gang consists of by age and all.

OH well..... I gotta go (I'm beat and gotta get some rest).

Adios, for now.... :wave2:

Just thought I'd remind everybody that there is a "Hidden Mickeys" game that you can play free. The sheets are available at Guest Services. It's a fun way to tour the ship and is perfect for individual or team play.

Ginny

Frank mentioned the Hidden Mickeys too. We could incorporate that as well. We could ask the "older" kids to be the captains of their "pirate" team and everybody would "pilfer loot" at the end of the game. Sound ok so far?

Oh forgot to add that each "pirate" team would have at least one adult with them. If you think your kids would be interested PM me or post here. Since we are getting so close we would need to get this worked out ASAP. If participating parents would each contribute "loot", enough for all kids, we should be able to have pretty good surprises for them. Any other thoughts, yeas or nays?

Hi

I am sure my boys would be interested. They love pirates and anything that could result in prizes, candy, etc. at the end. They are age 8 and 4. Let me know if you need me to do anything.

Robyn

Excellent idea on the hidden Mickeys! (makes planning the game easy!)

Lisa - Yes, my family (all 4 of us) will participate and I'll definitely contribute some good loot pirate: ! This sounds fun! What can I do to help?

hi pooter, welcome aboard. as far as the dressing up for dinner goes, i am not bringing a jacket or ties along on this trip, it has just been too hot a summer in texas this year and that is how i deal with the heat, so i'll be in khakis for dinner. and i'll also be donning a hawaiian print most of the time as well, i'm sort of famous for that.

Pogo...you and my husband in your silly....oops I mean hawaiian shirts. ;)

I think the kids ideas are great!! Count my boys 9 & 4 in, also my niece 5. I would be happy to contribute loot and help manage. I know we have a list of kids somewhere...I will have to find it. If you could PM me with your child's t-shirt size I'd appreciate it. I'm not exactly sure what I am going to do, but heck I need another project, along with the start of school, my new job, and of course regular cruise prep.

Robyn...I LOVE the photo album idea!!!

Captain....Just to restate...Frank has some pirate stuff, patches, tatoos, earrings. I know he will share, let him know what you need. pirate:

Well, running to work (UGH...the sound of that!!) :bitelip: Take care all.

Suzanne

Well if we see any men in line with loud, I mean Hawaiian shirts, at least we'll know who you are! :rotfl: Now Curtis is a tee freak. He has tees that are 20 years old I bet. He was (is) a #3 fan (sorry Andy) and a fan of motorcycle racing, riding etc. :moped: I can't believe he actually will wear a tux on formal night! I gotta remember to get his measurements so I can rent one and have it waiting for him in our cabin. One less thing to carry!
I was hoping to accomplish getting some things done on my days off (Th and Fri) but Skye has been home sick since Tuesday with a viral infection and fever. :cold:

Wow! We've had almost a hundred posts in less than a week. Are we anxious?

Hope Skye's feeling better!
