September 29, 2007 - Magic

As for the MNSSHP quickie meet......do u all want to meet early, rather than later ? We're getting in the park around 4:30 pm (before the party actually starts). Anyone else going to be there early ? We'll need to pick a meeting place. Main Street is usually busy, but whatever everyone else is good with, I'll be there. We'll just make it a quick H&B as Pauline said since we'll see eachother on the ship.

I'm getting waaaaayyyy excited now !

I think that is a great idea. I don't know our schedule. Did all the planning 6 months ago. :rotfl: I will let you know when I can.

I am having a hard time concentrating on my work.

Hi everyone! I'm new to disboard, so please be kind! (actually I'm new to all boards, don't ask me where I have been, under a rock or something!) I'm sailing on the Magic on 9/29 and found your thread, but it's so hard getting through 153 pages! I would love to meet to be part of a "group" onboard! Is there a condensed version? I'm traveling with my DH (I had to ask my sister what in the world these abbrevations meant!) who is 38, myself, 31, and my DS 3 & 5.

:welcome: You've joined a great group!! There are lots of us sailing with children your kids ages!! It's going to be a great cruise.

Okay, all of you going to WDW are making me jealous!! :p And I'm not a DVC member and probably won't become one. :sad2: So, here's my contribution to the "rest of us" :rolleyes1 Who is staying at the Country Inn and Suites Friday night before the cruise??

:welcome: TheDawnPatrol and Harper :welcome:

Jac - We are at CI&S. :wave2: I hope we get there at a decent hour, my oldest DD wants to hit Ron Jon's and I'd like to go over to Grills or Rusty's for dinner.

:wave2: Welcome to our little group HARPER! Yay!! More playmates for our little ones! Read Suer's 1st post (1st page) and you'll find a list of our names and kids ages :grouphug:

MNSSHP: Yes, I think we'll be there the whole day. Would you all like to meet around 5pm before everyone heads out for dinner and trick or treating? I haven't been to MK for over a decade............ is it the same layout as DL? if so, we can meet in the middle and meet at somewhere outside Cinderella's Castle???? We can leave each other our cell#'s so we can text or call each other. My DD has decided to wear her Snow White costume.. she'll get to wear it again on the cruise.

Wow! So many of you are DVC members... soooo jealous. I'm having a hard time convincing my DH to buy another timeshare :scared:

We have dinner ADRs at LTT for 4:20pm for the MNSSHP. Would 5:15p work for everyone? Otherwise we shall have to meet you all on the Magic the next day. Trying get as much time in and still save park days for my parents, the rest of us have APs but they have only hoppers. Dad loves DVC but not the parks, go figure:confused3 .

Cindy's Castle sounds great. I am not sure if WDW is the same as DL. We'll be wearing either our Haunted Mansion shirts (black) or our Pirates of the Caribbean shirts. My 14 yo dd will be wearing a black shirt with Jack Skellingtons all over it.

LAWalz.....we're happy to wait for you to finish your dinner. I don't think you'll be done by 5:15 though ? At least 5:30 pm I'd say. It's funny.....last Oct we did LTT before the Halloween party on Oct 5 and our ADR's were for 4:20 pm too !

As more people respond, we'll firm up a time.

Hi Pauline....
"ADR's" are advanced dining reservations
"LTT" is the Liberty Tree Tavern restaurant in the MK
The abbreviations can get out of hand sometimes....:rotfl:

Grammy......
Some people dress up in full costumes (adults and kids), some just wear halloween tees. Lots of kids dressed up---you'll see lots of little princesses etc.....
One year my girls were Snow White and Peter Pan and my son was a karate kid. Then another year, my one dd was a hippie and the other was Woody.
Last year, we just wore our Haunted Mansion tees. This year we'll probably do the same or our Pirate tees and hats.
Around 7-8 pm, the MK will seem quite busy/crowded. The CM's do a good job of getting the non-MNSSHP crowds out of the park. You'll receive a wrist band if you have paid for the party. But until the regular guests exit the parks, it can seem crowded. By 9-10 am, it gets much better. Last year, the CM's wouldn't even let lingering park guests hang in the gift shops. I saw many people politely being asked to leave the store if they did not have a wrist band. At a certain time, the CM's bring out special limited merchandise available only to party guests---such as special party t-shirts and such. I know we were walking over to Liberty Square around 9 pm last Oct and there were CM's checking wrist bands and turning people around and toward the exit if they did not have one.

MARIA: Are the rides still open until 9 or 10pm? I think we'll just get there at around 4pm then... I think 5 hours at the park for a 3 yr old is enough time.. we usually go to DL for a couple of hours.

GRAMMY: I hope you guys can make it to the MNSSHP!

OK got information for anyone that needs it about shipping stuff to IDS - Norm and I had to go by there and decided to stop in and speak to Dave Adams who is the owner. We know him casually but know his drivers more.
Anyhow Dave took us on a tour of the warehouse and I was stunned how large it was since it didn't look that big from the outside - anyhow he explained to us how "things" worked - he holds a very tight custom licenses among a number of other licenses and if at any time customs come in to inspect, things better be on the up and up. Everything is exrayed now and they have the right to open up anything that is sent to them for inspection.
There is NOT TO BE any type of liquor, glass containers, water or anything that could cause a red flag - he does deliver only to DCL for a charge - he requires that the cartons be a type of record storage box 12x12x6 and no more than 20 lbs. Anything that should not be sent, will be taken out and custom destroys it in the back inside a bin. He says baby food must be in plastic jars and wrapped tightly and diapers are all acceptable.
Your packages are held in a holding bin with the correct ship and date of sailing - I know that they are at the ships the same time we are which is usually around 7 to 7:30AM - it was great getting the chance to see what the inside was like. His daughter works for him and he seems to have a great staff.
Anyhow just thought I would pass the info to you - the phone number is 321-799-9100.
Always
Shirley

GRAMMY: Did you see this thread in shipping boxes?? I'm planning to ship a box too (one way only). It might contain: pinata, some room decorations, sunblock, beach toys, stuff for the goodie bags... etc. I'm thinking of sending it a week and a half earlier.

I'm arriving at WDW on Friday the 28th in the morning... May do something low key... Have ADR at Ohana at 9 PM but may instead go to Texas de Brazil in I-Drive...

Wow I have missed so much! First a big Welcome to Harper!!

Pauline and anyone else with small kids going to MNSSHP,

We did the Halloween Party last year and the Christmas party two years ago, You guys will have so much fun!

As for what to do when, here are my thoughts assuming you want to leave somewhat early:

4:30: Arrive and head to Fantasy Land/Toon Town - Ride attractions and try to eat early if you are relying on counter service as many places close early on party nights. We kind of got burned by that last year.

7:00: Walk through the trail behind Toon Town, the Indy Cars and comes out around Space Mountain. There are a few treat stations here.

7:30: Find a spot for the early parade in Frontier Land. This is the least crowded spot to watch the parade and you don't have to line up as early.

8:00 (double check time) Watch Parade

8:40 Walk to the bench right in front of Crystal Palace and find a place right in front of the fence. This is a great view of the castle for Hallowishes.

9:00: Watch Wishes

9:30: Visit more treat stations

10:00 leave

Have a great time!

Thanks, vpalmer!:thumbsup2

One cruise tip I remembered and want to tell you guys:

If you need something, and can wait, there is a KMart on St Thomas. It is straight up the street in front of where we'll dock, on the right and rather small. It's hard to see the sign because it too is small but trust me, it's there.

Welcome to our newbie!! We are making 50 goody bags, I am hoping that will be enough there are a lot of kiddies and I haven't taken a count in awhile.

I plan to go to the DVC meet on Sunday so I will see a lot of you there.

We arrive around noon on Friday and plan to hang out at SSR and get some food before heading to the MK around 4:00 for MNSSHP. I dont mind a quick meet there just let me know when and where. We are wearing some mickey head t-shirts that I made. I actually got the idea from these boards. I was going to do costumes but I want us to be comfortable. We plan to get in as many rides as we can before all the fun kicks off.

Thanks for the tips Veronica!
I think arrival time of 4pm at MK is good. We plan to leave soon after the fireworks.

I hope to have something to add to the goodie bag. I will look around to see what I can find!

So there are a ton of posts regarding car seats for the kiddos. Do any of you have advice on car seats? I'm so torn about the whole thing. I don't really want to go on the excursions from disney. I was hoping to save some money and just take a taxi, since I was thinking that we would only go to the beach. I have also read that we can leave the kids onboard and go into the ports ourselves, so I was planning on going to the beach with the kids in the morning and then getting back on board and then taking a taxi with just me and my DH to shop for a little while.

Here in the states we would NEVER go without car seats, so why when we are on vacation?? We are taking the Mickey express bus for all of our transportation and for some reason I was ok with my kids not having car seats on a bus, but in port I'm still very torn!

Have any of you taken taxis while at St. Martin and at St. Thomas? Do they have seat belts? I was thinking about getting on of those boosters w/o backs for both my boys, but my younger is not quite the weight for one of those (40lbs) HELP!!! any advice is great!
