September 29, 2007 - Magic

The reason that niece and nephew have white and black are because their feet are too big for the kid sizes, so they had to get the smallest adult size available. I love Mickey but wish the adult ones came in more vareties also. I bought mine from Shoebuy.com, there is usually a coupon at MSN.com that can be used.

I wanted to get DS a pair of Crocs (not necessarily Disney) but he refuses. Apparently, they make fun of kids at his school who wear crocs. :confused3 Thanks for telling me about Shoebuy.com and MSN! I did find a coupon for 10% off and a cute pair of Disney crocs for me for about $34 - thanks to you. Now I will have to decide if I should buy them!

Do you sign for purchases with your KTTW cards? My DD is 3 and I was thinking of giving her purchase priviledge with her KTTW card when she shops for her souvenirs (with me of course).. she can sign her name..uuumm ok she can write her name (not cursive for signature though).. but will this be a problem????

Hi everyone. I was at Michael's today getting the autograph mat (50% off sale) and I bought some "Magnetic Frame" basically, it's just an 8x10 magnet and it's got a plastic pocket in front of it where you can insert your art work.. (look for it in the art and frame dept) I thought I'd use it for my door sign instead of the magnet sheets that you directly print from your computer.. at leats this one I can reuse over and over again without having to buy more magnet paper. It was only $1.99! Needless to say, I'll be returning the magnetic sheets to Staples ($13.99).

JD: I can't wait to see them... my DD loves cinderella too!

princess: They are super cute. We were first talking about the Mary Janes but then my Mom found the Cinderella ones and there was no question - we had to have those!!! Hopefully they arrive in time.

It is...our cabin number is 2614.

thanks so much!!!

Oh my gosh!! You're going to be 4 rooms down from us. We're in Room 2606!

For non-virgin cruisers/repeat cruisers:
Do the CM's wear pins to trade? And do they have a special pin for the disney cruise lines?

Thanks.

Gr00vyChc:hippie:

I am a DCL Virgin (and proud of it!!! :cool1: ) but with all the reading I have done on this board this is what I know- there are CM's that wear pins and they have special DCL pins they can hand out. I've read about the special pins in a couple of TR's - where people have mentioned a CM going in to a drawer and pulling one out for the person. I also understand there's some pin book that you can flip through and exchange. Kind of like a "take one - leave one" thing. I don't get the pin trading thing though. DS has a couple of pins and they mean something to him. I can't imagine trading them. When we went to Disneyland last March, my cousin bought a lanyard and then spent a lot of money filling it up with pins and she kept all her pins. I guess you'd have to know a lot about pins to make sure you were trading fairly. But me if I bought a pin, I would want to keep it. :snooty:

Oh! Just looked it up in my Passporter (page 161) "You can buy all sorts of enamel, cloisonne-style pins on the cruise (there are about 500 unique cruise pins) to trade with others....Check your Personal Navitagor for trading sessions. The shopping supplement distributed daily highlights the featured pin for the day)."

Hope that helps!! :hippie:

Awwww, thanks! I am so looking forward to this cruise. My parents will be with me and it is their first cruise and my second. My first was on the Wonder for 4 nights in '04. I can't wait for all that a 7 night has to offer. I have even booked a couple of spa treatments (I am a spa virgin). I had such a wonderful time on my last one that I can't wait to come back. I am in my early 20's, but a Disney girl at heart!

I met a few CMs on my '04 cruise on the Wonder, anyone recognize the names and if they are still with Disney? I know only first names might not help too much, but if you know anything it would be great. I am just curious. They were so nice!

Michael and Zac from South Africa

JD: cool.. thanks for the info. I don't have a passporter ***eeeek gasp**** :) but i'm glad that they do have some sort of pin trading going on. In Disneyland, I think it's every 1st sunday of the month, they come out with a special pin that you can buy. Also, when you buy the pin trading set, it includes a lanyard and maybe about 6 pins (all the same) and of course you're gonna want to trade all but 1 of them. My DD keeps all of the ones that she trades also. We're looking for a kim possible one.. but it's almost impossible.. hahahahha really.. not kidding.

Hi DCL Girl  I've read your thread about being scared of getting bad servers/service... after reading the other threads.. I am too.. I'm hoping and praying that our wait staff will be awesome.. but I probably shouldn't expect anything spectacular or else it'll be a big let down :scared:

You're welcome. And I just Google'd "Kim Possible Disney pin" and it pulled up quite a few on Ebay. So, it looks like it's possible to buy one!

Woo-hoo!!! How fun is that???

I am still getting error messages here. Is it working for others?

PIN TRADING! There are a lot of DCL pins available only on the ship. Castaway Cay pins are available only on the island. If you see it, and you want it, you better get it. Trying to get them later is hard or expensive.

I buy the pins I like and I like the pins I buy so I am not into trading. My pin lanyard is my cruise necklace. But there are castmembers who wear lanyards and do enjoy trading.

Some special cruises have special pins. We cruised over Halloween in 2002 and there was a special Halloween pin. It was released for sale and people had to stand in line to get theirs. Some people did not know about it and others stood in line over and over so the limited selection was GONE before some of the cruisers knew it was available. Some of the people who bought a lot were going to sell them on e-bay later to make money to pay for their cruise. That frustrated a LOT OF US so we wrote on our evaluation that a more fair system was needed.

When we went on the DVC MEMBER Cruise in 2005 we each got a card in our room enabling us to buy one pin of the special edition pins. It clearly stated that the limited sales would end a certain day and all the remaining pins would be sold first come, first served. That was more fair. Everyone was notified.

When we cruised in 2006 there was no special edition pin as it was not a special cruise or a special event. We bought what we wanted in the shop. But, there were pin trading nights and the guy in charge had a pin book you could look through and made trades with him. One cruise I found a pin I had wanted but not been able to find for sale anywhere so I went to the store, bought a new pin and brought it to him to trade for the one in the book.

Clear as mud? Any questions?

Whew! Got that!:flower3: My DD is only 3, so she's not a "serious" pin trader, she just gets what she thinks is "pretty" princess: .. but I will have to get a disney cruise line pin.. especially as it is our very first cruise.

OOOOOOOOOOOOh wow! We leave in 26 days for WDW!!! Where will MMNSCHP?? be? Will it be at the Magic Kingdom? 'coz we only have 1 day and we've decided to spend it there. Also, do the kids get to go trick or treating.. do they hand out candy?
Thanks in advance!

I think the color is green, but I am not sure. Anyway, CMs wearing a specific color lanyard will only trade with kids. That way the GOOD pins are not hogged by the folks who will sell them on e-bay. So if your DD likes a pin that a CM with a green lanyard has on and you have not seen it in the store for her to buy with her own Key to the World Card, you can let her trade. They do this at the parks too.

You will be hard pressed to get ONE pin from the cruise--there are so many to choose and so many old ones that people might wear and be willing to trade. Go with an open mind.

You also might want to NOT let your DD have charging privileges on her KTTW card in case it gets lost. You will probably be carrying hers as well as yours, so if she wants to shop, you can hand her yours and pretend it is hers as they look alike. Then you wink at the CM behind the counter as your DD signs the receipt.

We have friends whose son lost his KTTW card and by the time they realized it someone had racked up $300 in video game playing. (However, the other possibility is that he spent that much himself and did not want to own up to it:confused3 ) But they do get lost so better to have it non-chargeable.

Hi Groovy ~
Yes, MNSSHP is in the MK.......the kids can trick or treat. They hand out small/tiny bags, so she can bringer her own bigger one if she likes. There are CM's at different stations handing out candy. Then, at the end of the night, if they still have more (which they usually do), they'll give you a handful as you exit the park. I'll see you there on the 28th if you decide to go !!!! :wave2: We'll be there in 25 days !!!!! Can't wait !!!

JL: Thank you sooooo much for that advice on the KTTW card. I don't think I will let DD3 have one.. I didn't even think about her using mine and it would be ok for her to sign it?? She's been able to write her name for a few months now and she's so proud (I'm even more so) of it.

I'm DONE with 1 of my door signs!! I'll post it as soon as I buy a color cartridge for my printer..:cool1:
