Yes grammy1, being a grandparent is the best!:thumbsup2

Jan, SEARCH AND RESCUE, now that's funny!:rotfl: I do love Downtown Disney. Shopping there isn't really shopping, it's part of Disney fun! And speaking of DD, could I ever go for one of those 1800 Margarita's at the Margarita Bar. Best I ever had!

As for formal night, I don't do formal. A simple dess will have to do. As for shoes, I wear tennis shoes and pack one pair of sandals and a pair of water shoes.

Welcome back Grumpy Gramps! Shannon couldn't remember if she pm'd you about door signs.:confused3

Oh I forgot water shoes, so that will be a total of four extra pair of shoes!

Got our ME tags yesterday, too! Thought it was a little early!

Has anybody used a wheelchair on a cruise? My mom has had stamina and balance issues since having open heart surgery for an anuerysm (and many complications since) last year and my sister and father are worried that it will be too much for her to walk on the ship and at the ports.

Jac - I am most like Minnie Mouse ::MinnieMo

Sue - I think MiniGirl (Eva) was going to bring chocolate pirate coins. Eva, can you confirm?

Lori - I haven't used a wheelchair on the cruise but I have used a stroller and it was no trouble at all getting around.

39 Days Folks!!! WEE-HOO!!! (But, who's counting?!?!):rolleyes1

(But, who's counting?!?!):rolleyes1

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I can't believe it is getting so close!

I can't wait to see everyone dressed up in their formal wear! Sounds very nice. The last cruise we were on (Norwegian) nobody dressed up like that, or maybe I just didn't notice. But anyway, this cruise seems a lot more formal. I don't think we will be as dressed up as all of you - we are doing Universal after the cruise, and I am a notoriously light packer. However, after reading what you all are wearing, I can see that ties will be required for the guys at least. DD & I were already planning on wearing dresses.

Anyway, I have a question - does anyone know when we will find out what our stateroom numbers are? We are all on a guaranteed status and I was just wondering when we will know what rooms we are staying in! Thanks for any info!

Melissa, you should be finding out your room number any day now. If I were you I would start to check my reservation online everyday.

worried about weight gain,I looked at the menus, who can resist all that great food and can you say DESSERTS,I know its only a week ,but I have been trying to lose weight and so far I have lost over 50,how much can I dread, gaining back does anyone know a average weight gain on a week long cruise? Another question can you buy bottled soda in port and bring on the ship, I would like to keep some in my room.

Hi grammy,
There is alot of food....that's for sure. We are active on the cruises---this is why we (personally) would be bummed if a storm/hurricane made it impossible to dock at the ports. We schedule very active excursions---love swimming and snorkeling. Plan to do some biking on CC. Days at sea are a little tougher. But you can do laps around the decks......deck 4 is really good for walking/jogging.

Yes, you can bring soda on boards. We put them in a rolling insulated (soft-sided) bag and it was not a problem. This was both on our 2002 and 2004 Disney cruises. I don't believe they've changed the policy since then ?

I've been lurking. :surfweb: So, we're 37 days out!! :cool1:
Around the 48 day mark, DD and I put together a chain to help us count down til the cruise. DS didn't want to help put it together but he's been wanting to take the links off each day. DD threw a fit, does not want DS to touch her chain. So, last night, DS and I put together his count down to the cruise. We printed off a picture of the Magic and then numbered 38 little Post Its and covered up the picture with the Post Its. I think it's silly to have 2 count downs, I think DD should share and take turns taking links off. But at least DS is finally showing an interest in going - enough that he wants to count down!! :cool1:

We have two countdowns and one that is just for show. We leave in 29 days. :scared1:  On the creative dis board is a graphic calendar countdown. There is a choice of Princess (DD), Fab6 (DS) and Cars (the extra). They are on each of the bedroom doors.

Can you give us the link to the thread?:) I've searched but can't come up with anything and those sound cute. Perhaps DH and I need our own countdowns, too. I could use one at work since people are starting to ask, "How many days until your cruise?" I know the answer off the top of my head! Then they say, "You're going to have so much fun." And I respond, "I know!" Duh!!

Where is the Margarita Bar? When we go to Downtown Disney we are usually shopping and on the way to Pleasure Island for drinks and shows. We have never bought drinks at DD. Let me know how to find it.

We have discovered Jose Cuerva's premade margarita's in a bottle at SAM'S CLUB. A bottle LIVES in the refrig and when it gets close to empty another moves in beside it so that there is always some cold "juice." (We have a friend who is not allowed alcohol due to past history and current medication protocol so we do not talk about drinking in front of her. When she is on the phone with me and Tom wants to know if I would like a margarita, he asks if I would like some "juice." She is none the wiser and we are not making her feel like everyone lives the good life except her.)

I have started wearing sandals on the airplane. I have to take off my shoes to go through security so my sox will be dirty from walking through the scanner. I do not like the idea of putting dirty sox in my clean sneakers, so now I wear sandals and have dirty feet the whole time. I may take only sandals, some for walking and some for dress. Sneakers are on the MAYBE list.

What a sensitive parent! Very clever of you. Each kid has his or her own count down. I LOVE IT:cool1: Sometimes there are good reasons to share and other times it is fine to have your own thing, looks like this is one of the latter!

Thank you for the compliment. :) I do love those babies of mine. I just can't get over how much rivalry there is between a 3 year old and a 13 year old. Tonight, DD took her link off but before she did - she offered to let DS do it. :sad2: Only after we make DS his own count down is she willing to share her count down. He happily declined her offer and walked over and picked his #37 Post It off his count down! :rotfl:

Do you take your kids to the oceaneer club open house to meet other kids early I read somewhere they generally make friends easier if their from the beginning, is it at 2:30 or 7:30 the first day?:dance3:

We're going to take DD to the club on the first day so she can look around and what not. But I think you should also come to our DIS Meet and Greet and your grandkids will meet other kids there, as well! We're having a meet on the first day, check the first page of this thread for the information! There are a lot of kids in our group and I know there are kids your grandkids age. :grouphug:

Thank you!! :hippie: I will have to spend some time at that site this weekend. I think it's time the kids and I start working on our door signs for the ship! Oh boy we're going to have too much fun with that one! I need to go to Home Depot and get those paint chip things to make our Mickey Heads. The door sign thing will be a good project to work on over Labor Day weekend! :cool1:
