I think we're taking a towncar.. the reviews on the shuttle say that it's too much hassle. I'm not too sure.. has anyone taken the DCL shuttle to MCO and found it ok??
I checked on the towncar and for 1 way port to mco is only $100!

We are considering taking the Cruise line bus this time. We are flying in Friday night and may get a hotel at the airport then the Cruise bus (shuttle) in the morning. We took it from Port Orleans (Then Dixie Landings) when we did a Land and Sea package in 1999. The bus has plush DCL logo upholstered seats, air conditioned and a video about the ship can be played on the way over. Our driver asked if we wanted that video or a movie and the kids on board voted for the movie so we watches 101 Dalmations (I think). We got door to door service with no traffic to hassle.

Our other option is to rent a car, drive to the port, stay at the Radisson or other hotel there and take their hotel shuttle (a little 9 passenger van as I recall) to the port in the morning. We have done that also.

Other times we have driven a rental car to the rental company in Port Canaveral and they have used their shuttle to take us to the port.

I'm sure everyone got the PM about the DIS Podcast. So, I just subscribed to it via my ITUNES. It's now uploading to my IPOD so I can listen to it at work tomorrow. I'm addicted to the DIS!
:disrocks:
I felt the need to confess my obsession!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

You're nuts! I wasn't going to DARE go there. Actually, I've been swamped between work, Fallon, and my murder mystery planning that I haven't had much time to obsess about the cruise! This past weekend Erik asked, "is everything OK? You haven't mentioned the cruise in almost a week." :rotfl:

Video? What video? What did I miss?
Can someone post the link again?

2-3 pages ago Wagnut posted a link from his DCL trip on the Wonder from January of this year. You can use the link he posted or go to youtube.com and do a search on Disney Cruise Line. Looks like he had a great time!

Looks liek the goody bags will be really nice between my sister and I, we picked up glow stick necklaces and a pirate skull gummy for each bag.

Only 42 more days until I start vacation!

Welcome, Grammy!
Well, you're off to a good start. You found the DIS, picked our date to cruise and you chose Disney. The rest is just gravy! :hippie:

:welcome: to our group grammy !

So nice of you to take your grandkids on the cruise. The first page of this thread has alot of our plans for meets and all.

Welcome Grammy! :welcome: You've come to the right place! You are amongst friends! Several of us have cruised before and several of us are learning as we go. If you have any questions this is a good place to start!

Check out the first page of this thread. We are having a couple of DIS meets once onboard to put faces with names and to get to know each other a little better. There are lots of kids in our group so your's will have plenty of little playmates too.

Have you cruised before? I have a couple of times but never on the Magic Eastern itinerary. There are some veterans here on our thread and they have been so helpful to me. If planning any excursions, try to book them now, it seems that things are starting to fill up already! Well, off to work but hope to chat with you soon! :goodvibes

:welcome: Grammy. You are going to love this group! :grouphug: I have a 5 year old daughter who will love to meet your granddaughter!! :flower3: Can't wait to meet y'all on board.

Welcome grammy! If you have any questions ask away! This will be DCL cruise #12 for me and DH. Our daughter and our two granddaughters ages 3 and 5 will be with us. It will be the first time we are traveling with grandchildren so it will be a completely different experience for us. You will LOVE DCL!

Quick update on all of us. Everyone has been sick except me. (DGD's, Shannon, Mike and DH) Hopefully this means that everyone will stay healthy on the cruise. Shannon has also started as grooming manager at a new Petco store. Seems like she is always working. And her computer is broken so she hasn't been able to keep up or post. It's driving her crazy!

We had terrible storms here last week. So many people had flooded basements. I never saw so much rain at once. We really needed rain but not so much at one time! So glad that we did not flood!

Deweysgirl, did you hear from your friends in Parma? Did they have any water damage?

We all are in bad need of a vacation. Can't wait!:goodvibes

Welcome Grammy1 :flower3: Everyone here has been very helpful.. just ask your questions and they'll be answered in a second! :thumbsup2

I don't know about you all.. but all I can THINK about is our cruise! What luggages do I take, what clothes to pack, what to wear for formal night, I'm about to start packing.. I'm just stopping myself.. :rotfl2:
BTW, they have halloween costumes available on the disney store online for those of you buying new princess dresses for their princesses.

Is anyone else shipping a box to the port??? When are you going to ship it?

FYI:
We're taking the town car from the port to MCO through http://www.fltours.com/ it's cheaper than Happy Limo and booster seats, tolls, are included in the quoted price.

Gr00vyChc :hippie:

Gr00vyChc, we are going to use FLTours also from BWV to port and back to BWV and then ME back and forth from the airport. It was a lot cheaper than DCL transfers for 7 people and we will get to the port earlier. So I can get my Palo brunch reservation!:goodvibes

you guys are great, i tell everyone at work how great this site is,we are flying in friday staying at port orleans then taking the bus over, i wanted simple since it is just me and the two grandkids. I have not been on a cruise in 16 years and it was only once. I was thinking about just taking a taxi to the beach at st thomas, I did spend a week their a few years ago it is beautiful.:dance3:

Sounds like terrific plans !
We're actually staying at Port Orleans the day we get off of the ship. The night before we're staying at POP. Too bad it's not the other way around or we could meet up for a quick "hello" in wdw. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is 9/28 so we're aiming to do that the night before the cruise.

As for your plans.....a taxi to a beach sounds great. With little ones, I think you're a bit limited in what you can do. So many of the excursions involve alot of activity. I'm assuming you have early dinner seating since you have the grandkids with you ?

:welcome: Grammy ! You picked a great group to join :thumbsup2

I have a question for those of you that have taken DCL transpo from the port to WDW before. I am trying to decide between DCL and a towncar. Is the DCL transfer like ME regarding luggage? Do I have to take it everywhere I go or do I take it to a "special" place at the port and it Magically arrives later in my room at AKV?

Welcome Grammy!! :wizard:

The DCL transfer back to WDW requires you take your luggage with you. Once you get to your resort, they can hold your luggage until your room is ready. Since we were using a package last year, we had to check in at the resort to get our tickets so it wasn't all that big of a deal.

Grammy, we're getting in on Thursday and spending both Thursday and Friday nights at Port Orleans French Quarter. Are you going to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Friday? If so, we'll be there! Just look for Prince Charming and three princesses- one a lot bigger and not quite so adorable as the 7 and 5 year old princesses on his arm! ;)

Maybe we'll see you around the pool?!

I FINALLY got to the store today, look around, and decide little bouncey balls will be a cute idea for the gift bags! Then I get on here, double check on the 1st page, and it looks like there are already 2!?!

If I get a chance to go back to the store and return/exchange them I will, otherwise there'll have to be 3 little bouncey balls in the goody bags I guess because what am I going to do with 48 bouncey balls? :confused3

We will be flying in on Thursday and going to the MNSSHP on Friday, too! We are staying at the BWV for the first time. Haven't decided if we are dressing up or wearing Halloween t-shirts.
