September 29, 2007 - Magic

There seems to be quite a bit of us doing Coral World on our own. Maybe we should meet up and all go together. Just a thought.

I am sorry that there was no brunch open, I hope that everyone can get what they wanted when they get on the ship. Just remember now that you are taking this one you will be Castaway Club members for the next one that I know you all will be taking :thumbsup2 !!

Ouch! So sorry to hear about your injury, JDBlair. :worried: Hope you're feeling better soon!

SueRS, Thank you so much for keeping the first post updated! I've added the signature graphic. :) I realized I did not initially add our family names. Would it be a huge deal to add those?

DH - John
13 yo DS - Eric
11 yo DD - Kristen
5 yo DD - Anna Kate

Thanks!

I have a 13 year old son, too. His name is Jacob. I'm excited to see another 13 year old boy on here! Did you book Wild Side for yours??

So, last night, around 5, I slid down our last 2 stairs carrying down laundry.

A sprain can and usually does hurt worse than a break.

A week and a half before my cousin and I went on our March cruise, I stubbed my right, big toe. It hurt so badly I thought I had broken it again. (Broke it 3 years ago.)

I hobbled the entire cruise and, not thinking, took closed toe shoes for dinner that I couldn't wear and had to wear my sandals the whole time!

It ended up getting very infected and I had to be on antibiotics. Of course I lost the nail and it's growing back but it was very hard to be on it for the week of the cruise.

Feel better soon!

JD Blair: So sorry your sprained your ankle. You have 75 days to heal!

Pauline: Glad you were able to get Palo Dinner on Pirate Nihgt. We are also doing Coral World on our own and I am a bit newrvous about the cab aswell but it's worth it to go to Coki Beach.

To Everyone that missed out on brunch: The same thing happenend to us last year. I stayed up for our reservation window to open and brunch and high tea were already sold out. It seems to be a routine problem. :sad2:

Around 9:30, we decide we're going to ER because I'm crying my eyes out and I have a really high threshold for pain. The tirage nurse is convinced it's broken, my ER nurse is convinced it's broken but the X-Rays prove them wrong!! It's sprained!!!
Ouch ! So sorry to hear this JD ! Hope you're feeling better soon.

As for the Wild Side....my son loved it when he did it in 2004. I'm trying to get my dd's interested now.

Not yet, but very seriously considering it. I'm still trying to find out if they eat with the group during the tour. That would help a lot with what we have planned. I've read nothing but good things about the Wild Side though and I think the price is very fair. Maybe he'll see Jacob there. :wave2:

For those of you thinking of doing Coki Beach, anyone else considering SNUBA? I'd sent an e-mail off to Tammy at VISNUBA asking if it'd be best for DH and I to split up and take one of the older kids each during the 10 and 12 AM tours or for one parent to just take them both on the early tour while one stayed with our 5 year old. Here is a portion of her response -

At this time, I would have to recommend one adult going with the two older children and the other spending the time with the 5 year old. The reason is that we book one dive first and then the other. If I get someone for the other dive time, I could let you know so you could divide up and go in two separate dives.

Ideally we'd both like to do it, but I'll let DH and the two older kids do it if they end up not having two tours that day. Just wondering if there are potentially enough of our 9/29 Magic cruisers who may sign up for this.

I think it's really cool that we may see so many of you there. Sharing taxis sounds like a good idea. :)

Coki Beach: yes!! i'm up for sharing a taxi van! there's safety in numbers as they say. i'll ask my DH if he'd like to do snuba instead of snorkeling. it looks cool.

St. Martin: is the butterfly farm tour ok?? from you non-virgins who have done this? we were thinking of going to orient beach or dawn afterwards.. which would u recommend?

Veronica: were you able to book a brunch at palo when you got boarded the ship last time since u weren't able to do it online?

I didn't even try to book the brunch once we got on board. This will be my first time at brunch. From what I have read, getting the brunch onboard should not be difficult assuming you book it immediately after boarding. I forget exactly where you book onboard, maybe Rockin' Bar D???

I can't decide on a beach for St. Martin either. I just read that a new Westin opened on Dawn Beach and it is a lot more crowded than it used to be. :sad1:

I would like to hear about the Butterfly Farm as well if anyone has any experience. Is it inland or near the beach?

No brunch for us either and it was what I really wanted! :sad2: I will race you all to the booking. Did take dinner on the 5th night early, my sister has it for later that same night, as the only nights open were 1, 5 and 6 at 12:05am. And that was a fluke because I was at work and did not think I could get on the DCL site and was testing it when my reservation came up no birthdate or not paid. :confused3 Thankfully I was linked with my parents so I did everything through their reservation.:woohoo:

Is there a way to check to see if you are linked for dining because my sister's reservation did not come up as linked  and we made it together and asked to be seated together for dinner.

We have the Butterfly Farm in St. Martin and Tramway at St. Thomas because it seems to be $3 cheaper for adults and $1 cheaper for kids than the actual price. We are going to do Coral World on our own and then some serious shopping. At CC, sister's (pooh667) family and I are going parasailing :yay: then the stingray adventure.
Not sure about mom and dad. :confused3

JDBlair, sprains can be worse than breaks and take longer to heal, be sure to take it easy for a while.

For those of you bringing stuff for the goodie bags, are you going to put it in the stuff you carry on to the ship? Because I don't know if we will have our regular luggage before 3 pm or is DCL super fast?

Found this on another thread...thought it would be fun to see what this crazy group of DISers likes.....????
:rotfl: :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :lmao: :goodvibes :cool1:  :dance3: :yay:

Coke refill station--what are your mix-ins?
-------------------------------------------

I know you can bring your own alcohol on-board and there is the Deck 9 drink refill station. So I've been pondering these important questions:

What alcohol do you bring?
What drinks do you mix?

I am a ice tea with bacardi le'mon.... girl...:cutie:

I like Kahluah and Diet Coke but the Kahluah is so sugary it does me in. I have discovered that if I put about 1/4 cup of coffee in the coke the flavor is much the same without the calories.

So--put me down for COFFEE FLAVORED DIET COKE

So, last night, around 5, I slid down our last 2 stairs carrying down laundry. No worries. Didn't feel any pain. Got up and did laundry, made dinner, finished laundry, folded laundry - I was all over. Then I sit down to get ready to do this whole booking thing and notice my foot is starting to hurt. The more I sit, the more pain. I go shower so DH can wrap my foot. By then, the pain is just insane! I mean, it was the worst pain I have ever felt and I gave birth to 2 children. Around 9:30, we decide we're going to ER because I'm crying my eyes out and I have a really high threshold for pain. The tirage nurse is convinced it's broken, my ER nurse is convinced it's broken but the X-Rays prove them wrong!! It's sprained!!! But a bad sprain, I'm in this splint thing and have to stay off my foot for 2 days. DH was sweet and brought his computer so we logged on while waiting in the ER room. Here is what I got:
Dinner on the last night...grrr!!!
And The Wild Side Teen excrusion for my son.

No brunch!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: So, we're staying near the port the day before the cruise, I'm going to haul butt to get there and change things out. I don't want dinner the last night, I wanted it formal night. And I want a brunch.

Ohh no! I was wondering where you were last night or should I say this morning. :faint: Hope you get the feeling better! :flower3:

Just think at least it was the night before reservations and not the night before the cruise :scared1:

I think we decided to do the bags at the 2nd meet so we could have a chance to get everything together.

ATTENTION ALL BRUNCH FANATICS!!!!!! :dance3:

Okay you guys, we need to make a pact - apparently there will be LOTS of us all racing up to make a brunch reservation so I say the first one there makes one for ALL of us!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1
What do you say?! We'll just take over Palo!!!! :cool1:

Seriously, that is the one thing I wanted to reserve and was bummed not to be able to. I did book a spa treatment that I really wanted though! :thumbsup2

JDBlair, so sorry about the sprain! Those are killer! I did that a couple years ago carrying laundry down stairs too! :sad1: Feel better!

Sounds good to me...Is it possible to book larger groups? :confused3 I thought I saw something about a private room there last night when I was booking.

I thought I saw something about a private room there last night when I was booking.

I found a thread about the Palo private room and the consensus was it was great for dinner but it gets warm in there for brunch plus it is more inconvenient because you are getting up to get your food at brunch instead of being served.

But I bet we could get a group table as easily as booking separate tables when we get there! Sounds like fun!

Sounds good to me...what would you do just tell them you need a table for xx people?

Jac,
So sorry to hear about your boo boo  ...and to add insult to injury...NO PALO...for you...I feel your pain....well maybe not your foot but i sure feel it when it comes to lack of a PALO brunch.

Zane_Anthony,
I hear you about not really even wanting to do PALO, I have a ressie but who knows if I'll keep it..:confused3

Groovychc,
We are also doing Coral World on our own, we are doing the Sea Treck but we would be in for sharing a ride, let me know if anything happens with it :)

SORRY ABOUT YOUR FOOT!! I hope it is better soon.

I am trying to stay caught up on 8 threads. Hardly ever read any others. On one of them--this one maybe?--someone said she wanted Palo the last night as a romantic ending for a lovely week. I though that sounded sweet. But, if you don't want Friday night, then you don't want Friday night.

I am here to tell you all that you are not competing with me for Palo. I have not booked Palo and will not book Palo. We ate there once and it was too fuffy for my tastes. The waiter hovered. I said I did not want the chocolate souffle or any dessert and he brought one anyway, cut it open on my plate and then was surprised I did not eat it. He was almost indignant, after all, he had gone to all the trouble! I reminded him that I did not want or ask for it.
DH tipped well, but I would not have.

 Give me the diningrooms any day!

Goody bag stuff to the 2nd meet sounds good to me! We (mom, dad, sis, bil and me) would be in for a group brunch table. Niece and nephew would just have to hang out at the lab for a few hours.
