September 29, 2007 - Magic

Hi everyone,

It looks like I have a lot to catch up on, and not too much time to do it.

Just this morning I booked this cruise for my family and I. It'll be dh, me, and our 2 dds (8 and 5 when we depart). I was also able to get a cabin for my best friend and her family. She also has 2 dds that will be 8 and 5 when we set sail.

I'm the only DISer in the group though, and they love me but think I'm a bit overboard in my obsession. Oh well.... I don't care.

Anyway, I am a total newbie to the whole sailing thing, so tell me everything I need to know because I know nothin'. I thought I could just throw some things in a suitcase, but a quick glance around here tells me I am wrong about that. I need a door sign and what else. Do my kids need special clothes or anything? Do people dress up? Are there theme nights? See, I really have no idea what I'm doing?

I hope ya'll can show me the right way to cruise Disney style. Can't wait to get to know all of you better.

BTW, is there some sort of roster of who all is going? I didn't see one on the first post.

TIA,

Well, do to a health problem and losing some vacation, we are switching to the Wonder 3 nite leaving on 10-4, Have a great cruise
Lynn

Sounds like the health problem was overcome so that's great. A shorter vacation is definitely better than no vacation. Have a wonderful trip!

Oh you sure do have a lot of catching up to do - 84 pages worth!! Basic gist: Theme nights: pirate gear, evening wear, green pajama bingo, door sign.

Palo (upscale restaurant): Either this weekend or 7/16 you'll be able to book reservations for brunch and dinner so some get up at 3am to do so (provided you have your cruise fully paid for). Oh yeah, you can book your excursions online too.

We're a planning bunch, most of us have airfare, hotels and car rentals already paid for (oh yeah, I need to get my car . . . . )

Welcome!

Lynn, sorry the seven day cruise didn't work out. Have fun on your three day!

Welcome MiniGirl! I pretty much just throw things in a suitcase and go with the flow.:goodvibes I don't have kids to worry about though so it is much easier. I think all of us here are DIS obsessed so we understand your obsession. DCL cruises are a blast!:thumbsup2

Yay! Plane tickets!!! :cool1: I'm pretty sure I posted when I booked our tickets a couple of months ago. Come to think of it, I probably posted every single time I did something in regards to this cruise! :cutie:

They have bars in the airports, take a couple of shots of something fun and you'll be fine. It's not like it's a long flight from Ohio to Florida! :hippie:

Hey GG & JD, We all got our flight together, its all figured out now. :cool1: Ragdoll even had to come over and make sure we reserved correctly. Good thing she did cuz we probably would have screwed it up. So, Were all set up now!!!

Now the only thing I'm worried about is the plane, its a big fear of mine.:scared: But ill get over it.

Were all goin', its official, and its coming up soon!!!:woohoo:

Looking forward to meeting you all!!!

-Mike

Yes, I have 3 posts in a row but it's a significant number!

We are exactly 3 months from our cruise per our tickers today! :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :wave2: :boat: :rockband: :dancer: party: :jumping1: :drinking1 :drinking1 :jumping3: :sail: :tinker: :dumbo: :goofy: :dogdance:

I am so excited!!!

Hi all,
:yay: Just checking in..."how dare all of you keep living your lives on the DIS when i can't"...it's just not fare ...so stop it...lol. I hope to be on in full force in another week or two. Baseball is all most done, the youngest DS lost last night in playoffs, and the other is playing on Sunday, can't say i wouldn't mind a loss for his team too, I'm beat!!!! :rotfl2:
So don't forget me i'll be back...:thumbsup2

P.S No passports yet, 14 weeks and counting!:sad2:

Thanx for the encouragement JD, Its weird, I dont mind the Little planes, the small single engine ones that barrell into the side of mountains and crash all the time, I like those. The big ones scare me for some reason, but with a couple drinks before the flight, I'll be OK. :drinking1 Shannon is excited just to see me flip out on the plane, she thinks that will be "Funny". Good for her!

Anyway, welcome Minigirl, I'm new here too so we'll all figure this out. WELCOME!!!!:welcome:

Were less than 3 months away!!!

-MIke

PS> I gotta use shannons log in, Mine wont log in for some reason:badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

Um, a couple of drinks before the flight??? Our flight leaves at 7:30AM!

I think we will have to draw straws to see who gets to sit next to Mike and watch him flip out.:thumbsup2

Shannon used to come home from work on the weekends to a clean house, finished laundry and even dinner sometimes. Now that we've got Mike hooked on the DIS she will probably come home to a dozen new posts.:surfweb: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh my, this vacation is going to be a blast!:cheer2:

You're right!:thumbsup2 Dishes are still dirty, laundry isn't done, and No Dinner! But the kids too a nap!? What are you guys doing to him?

Well, 3 months to go. Now all I left to do is get Savannah potty trained. Hope it works. Anyone else having this problem?:confused3

My DD is trained. She turned 3 last October and had to be trained to move in to the next class at her day care. It was a long and frustrating process so I wish you luck! :hippie:

Wow, I Didn't figure this would be such a hot topic! Thanx for all the suggestions from Pajama Party Reception (Which I like that one, and I got $20 Ragdolls for it too), To GG offering his Pants, Which my inseams about a 34-36, so those 28's would be more like shorts, but I appreiciate the offer! I can tell already with this kind of crowd, we are all gonna have a real good time!

The whole Wedding thing might be a good idea for the next cruise, but the idea of doing that on a cruise is a good one I think. But thats mainly up to her. What do ya think hun?? Heck, were not even engaged yet!!!

Mike, Don't tell Shannon or Ragdoll, but you could do it all on one cruise!
Pop the question on Deck 10 the first night in the moonlight and then on an AT SEA day we have a wedding and reception (Dutch treat) in Promonade lounge mid afternoon--2 pm sounds nice.
Shannon can bring a lovely dress and I am SURE we can find flowers! I bet it would not be hard to get the DDs to be flower girls and Ragdoll could be Matron of Honor and your Grandma could be your witness==what an honor for them both!
Jan :earsgirl:

When we get on board, you'll have to ask my Brother about his practice ring and that whole story...Wishing Well at Disneyland :cloud9: ...big surprise party :cool1: ...surprises for everyone involved!!! That was all 15 years ago! :scared1:

Won't you PLEASE tell us now?!?!?!?
Jan :earsgirl:

On a separate note...

UNITED SUCKS! Ok, most of the Airline industry probably fits into that category. We (our 9 person, 3 family group) were booked on United flight from Los Angeles to Orlando, NonStop. We (my family of 4) just got back from a visit to Indianapolis and it prompted the question of what seats do we have for our Disney trip:confused: .

So we asked our travel agent (my Dad, one of the 9) "DAD! What seats do we have on the plane going to Disney?" He says, "Let me check." :scared1:   :faint: Only to find out that our NonStop flight has been elimiated from the schedule, we have been re-routed through Chicago, and the 9 of us are scattered throughout the plane (no need to keep 6, 8 & 9 year olds with family...the whole plane gets there doesn't it???:confused3 ). The worst part here is that they didn't notify ANYONE! You can't go from NonStop to a change of planes and not change the schedule significantly...and that plane was nearly completely reserved.

Fortunately for our trip, we have a really good travel agent :thumbsup2 and he got us re-booked on Delta for flights that are NonStop, and close to our original flight times. (Cost us an extra $1000 though.) Now if something happens to that flight, I'm not sure who in the family will go postal first...

Ok, enough of my rant...but you might want to go check your reservations... :rolleyes1

Indianapolis? Did you have a good time in MY CITY? (Listen to me--I have only lived here 2 1/2 years and I claim it as mine.)
Jan :earsgirl:

PS: glad you got the airplane situation fixed. Sorry you had to pay so much extra.

Wow JLSE, While I Appriciate your enthusiasm and well thought out Schedule and suggestions,:thumbsup2 I don't think its going to happen on THIS Cruise. I Think it would be a very good Idea to do it on A Cruise, So far, just in a weeks worth the ideas, we planed the whole thing. If we do it on a cruise, we will let everyone know which cruise it will be. On this one, we are going to have a "Pre-Engagement" Party with PJ's on at a bar!!!:cool1:

We're Still not engaged yet.

Talk to Yall Soon!!

-Mike

PS Rags, The Dishes are done AND the laundry's folded. FYI
