September 29, 2007 - Magic

Thanks for the info re: butterfly farm!! I bored dd with all the details so far re: the trip and she stayed awake so DEFINITELY doing the butterfly farm with her (to which dh said she'll probably love it and of course he wants to go to, doesn't intend on being left behind on the boat)!

I wish I could see all your pics, it's blocked here at work! I want to definitely log on soon from home so I can see everyone. I'm really looking forward to Sept. - even more so now! :goodvibes

Jajo- this is our first Disney anything too (unless my trip with my parents to Disney World when I was 12 counts?) so I'm psyched to be going! We'll be newbies together. :dance3:

Maria, that is one of the reasons we booked this cruise! Our family group just booked a few weeks ago and we were still able to get early dining, not to mention the category we wanted. I do not think the ship will be full when we sail.

Oh darn! That just breaks my heart! :sad2: Seriously, that would be terrific! :cool1: I'd love it! :yay: More space at the pools, less people in port, more openings at the spa, it's all good!

Thanks  I thought we were from another planet or something....lol...well i am "out there" most of the time....:rotfl2: I am so excited that the boys pick the cruise...we gave them 3 choices 1. Hawaii 2. Disneyworld or 3. Disney Cruise. We gave them complete power (I just pre picked the 3 places I wanted to go, so it was win win for me) When they got both dvd's they watched and chose the cruise. The comment's for Hawaii were "the only thing there is volcano's and a beach" so they ruled that one out first. (DH and I will wait and do it for our 15th anniversy in 3 years.) We have done a lot of theme parks so i think they wanted to try something different...So here we are... going on this "magical" cruise with all of you....:yay: :yay:

I think it's great-awesome-excellent there are 2 of you going on the cruise with no previous Land or World experience. I understand DCL has Disney themes and Disney service but not in your face DISNEY like the parks are - you can escape the Mouse on the boat. (No flames!! I love in your face Disney. I'd live at the Land if they opened apartments in the park, okay?!!) But I think it's pretty cool to let your first Disney experience be the cruise. I saw the Magic in port in Nassau in 2000 and was just blown away how it shamed all the other cruise ships next to it. Even passengers from other ships were on the dock taking pictures of the Magic. I am ecstatic our cruise is with the Magic because when I saw that ship, I fell in love with her and I can't wait to go!!! I don't think either one of you will regret your first Disney experience! :grouphug:

Jajomo: This is our 1st cruise EVER! I've been a little nervous to go 'coz I get major motion sickness, but I'm hoping that there will be too many distractions for me to get seasick :scared:

We are sooooooo looking forward to our Disney cruise also!

Everyone's pictures look great! I'm going to attempt to post some but I don't know if it will work or not. My parents are going to hate me. Here goes!

:rotfl2: Wow my mom's gonna kill me for posting that pic! The first one is me and DD(Jade), Second is Ragdoll(mom) withh my DD(Savannah), Third is my dad with my DD's. I couldn't get any past cruise pics on here because I don't have a scanner.

Shannon1984 what cute girls!! It has been so warm here, although it is supposed to turn COLD tonight and all of spring break. So I am definitly ready for the cruise! It can't come soon enough. Has anyone done Coral World (I think that is what it is called) on St. Thomas on their own? I was looking and you can get coupons online and the child price is 12 and under whereas Disney is charging adult price for them. I think it sounds really neat since my DH (can't swim) and DD is afraid of the fish, it would give them a chance to see the fish of a coral reef without actually snorkling.

I will have to see how our money goes but the Sunny Liston Tour sounds neat. We don't usually do any excursion since we really have to save to go on the cruise but we did get to do the Stingray one at Castaway Cay when they were first introducing it they let you try it for free it was alot of fun. We are trying to save some more so we can do an excursion, although we seem to have just as much fun without doing one. I will have to say we do get souviners but mostly with our onboard credt.

Here's hoping everyone has a great week!

MCraft: That's a great idea. I'd love input regarding this excursion as well. So, the water is shallow enough that you don't have to snorkel? My DD is only 3, so she doesn't know how yet and I'd rather not go into deep waters either..

Someone puhleese give us info regarding that coral excursion? Thanks! :flower3:

From what I have read it is an aquarium with lots of things to do but one of them is an Undersea observatory, here is what it says on their website...

Our air conditioned Undersea Observatory takes you 100 feet offshore and 15 feet beneath the sea in the middle of a living coral reef. From the observatory's bottom level you have the unique opportunity to stay dry and watch totally non-captive fish and other marine creatures as they go about their daily activities on the reef unaware of your presence. During the twice daily feedings, watch hundreds of fish engulf our diver outside the observatory.

The website is www.coralworldvi.com They also have a coupon on their website. It looks really interesting, I am hoping someone else might have done it on their own to see if it is that hard to get to. Hope this helps

:welcome:
Hi ibela ~
As far as the Passporter review of the Butterfly Farm in St Maartin :
It got an 8/10.
you board a bus for a narrated tour to the French side of the island. After the tour, you stop at Marigot for shopping and touring. The Passporter tip is to wear bright colors and the butterflies will be more likely to land on you. Meeting time is 8 am. Most reviews were favorable and said it was a "great island tour" and should not be missed especially for kids 12 and under. It's a 3.5 to 4 hour tour and cost is $34/adult and $28 for kids (ages 3-9).

Hope this helps !

Thanks for the info! That is one thing that my DD 9 really wants to do so I think I'll try to do that with her.

I haven't had a chance to post in awhile but I'm reading along and catching up. A BIG :welcome: to all that have come on board! I loved looking at everyone's pictures, I will try to post a couple too.

BTW-Grumpy Gramps, loved your picture with your beautiful wife and the tux is absolutely awesome!

Shannon-even though Mom wasn't too thrilled, it was nice to put her face with the name again. Oh, I guess I should send my apologies to you guys on the Ohio State loss last night. We just had to call our friends today in Parma to rub it in a little...chomp, chomp! Lol!

:woohoo:

I also was planning on going here. I believe this is the aquarium on Coki beach. My DD's love the aquarium at the zoo. I also just set up a saltwater tank at my house and am interested in going here to learn more. I think I am planning on just taking a cab here, if anyone else plans on going let me know. I also have to be very, very careful on how much I spend. Does anyone know how much it costs for admission to this aquarium?

Hhhhmm.. if it's an aquarium.. I think we'll skip it. We go to SeaWorold (San Diego) ALL that time.. so it's probably the same experience.. tide pools, shark encounter, etc...

So, I think we'll do the Sunny Liston tour so that we can see parts of the island.

Maria: Are you planning to do parasailing too or just your DH? I told my DH to go by himself since he really wants to.

Starting my walking/jogging/running routine this week! :woohoo: I HAVE to get into a swimsuit (that I like) by end of Sept. :wizard:

Nighty night y'all!

Thanks for the info Mia - I already "told" dd we're going to the butterfly farm. It was her reward for staying up as I told her about all the details of the trip planned so far. It seems like they only spend ~30 min at the place itself so dh wants to go on our own so we can spend more time there if we want. Deweysgirl - see ya there!!

I love all the family pics!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had one to post but the last time we took one all together was 7 months ago when dd was 4 months old (and that's the one we brought in for a special project at her daycare, oopsie). I'll see if I can figure out how to link a couple of pics from my yahoo photos page . . . I think I can.

Oh phooey....I can't see your pics ibela :sad1:
Maybe it's just my computer ?

No Mia it isn't your computer...the links don't seem to be valid. Ibela, can you see the pictures when you view the DIS? If so, I'd guess the pictures are in your private
area on Yahoo...So only you can see them...:confused3

Darn it!! I couldn't see them either but 1/2 the time I see x's so figured it was just MY computer. I'll try again when I'm at home. Would you believe I WORK in technology and can't get my pics posted here? :headache:

Hi GrOOvy,
This is kind of weird because I posted my reply yesterday yet I don't see it here this morning ?
So here it is again......
I think it's just going to be my dh---I think this excursion would sort of freak me out a little ? And I'm not really a chicken---ride all the big roller coasters at WDW, UNiversal, and other parks. My one dd is saying there is "no way" she's going and the one dd is thinking she might like to ride tandem with my husband. I'll be planted firmly on the ground though ;)
ps: if this is a duplicate, I apologize. But I don't see my first post anywhere.
